New Taxidermy Trophies

I know it is along time before the Fall. But, I want to throw this out there. With our Fall fun like Turkey Hunting. We need some new trophys that retain name and weight on them like fish. What we need is Great Harts to be able to be measured with weight and name when mounting to trophy like fish. That way we can have deer hunting competitions. of course this could be all year long. But would be great especially around the fall if it is seasonal. In fact we could have bear and duck season too. Of course I have seen no ducks in game but there is bears. I would take any kinda of trophys of this type we can get. What do you think? would you hunt for that perfect trophy if it was available? Taxidermy got a few new mountable fish but thats all its seen in years. Could we have some expansion upon the trophys we can have please?

oh ya we need special event trophys that can only be gotten during special events. like the turkey's and perhaps some of the other boss types

I think there could be a whole lot of additions to Taxidermy. Like a use for those heads of the Styngian Dragon. I'd like to be able to have that mounted on my wall.

I'd like to see the head of a Sea Serpent too. Perhaps a demon... Snow Leopard... Walrus... How about a mounted Skree? What about mounting a Boara head?

How about a Kirin?

My very first house had a chest full of (what I assumed at the time was) junk that came with it. There was some dude's head in it. I'm proud to say that I didn't trash it thinking it was worthless. But I did recall to trinsic bank without marking a rune to my new house or at least looking at a map to figure out how to walk back home.

The house eventually decayed and fell into the swamp. That was back when houses had to be manually refreshed and you could have more than 1 per account.

When SA came out Draconi or one of the devs stated that there were more creatures that could be mounted, but I haven't wandered around with my carpenter to try. I wish there was an easier way to try the SA creatures rather than stoning off carpentry temporarily to a warrior.

Could we have some expansion upon the trophys we can have please?

As I see it, there does is a problem with Trophies, though.

It is all fine and dandy that they show, at least for fish, date and size, but the real problem is also showing the name of who fished it up.

I mean, I like it, don't get me wrong, it is great that the catch shows the name of the great fisherman who was persistant enough to catch it.

BUT, this great addition also make Trophies hardly tradeable or sellable.

Who wants to show in their home a record fish caught by someone else ?

So, it is my suggestion, WHEN crafting the Trophy there should be a gump popping up that asks whether or not one wants on the trophy the whatever name the fish carries.

If one says yes, then the fisherman name is permanently embedded on the fish. If one says no, then the trophy should be created with no name on it (no "caught by XYZ") BUT retaining the ability that, by double clicking on the Trophy at a later time (or right clicking on it), a gump would pop up asking what name one wants to embed on the Trophy and a crosshair cursor to target the wanted character.

By clicking the character this particular character's name would be indicated as who caught the fish. The embedding would be permanent.

This would provide option to either embed the fisherman who caught it up or someone else and, thus, allow better trading/selling of Trophies.

The reason for the embedding to be permanent, is to avoid the same Trophies to be swapped among different characters just changing the names on them. This would greatly limit their ability to sell new Trophies.
Having the embedding permanent, instead, would allow for new Trophies to be able to sell with different names on.

NOTE. I am not in favour of leaving freedom to players to just type any text in to avoid weird texting to be put on Trophies, not to mention questionable ones.... By limiting the option to either whomever caught the fish OR to have to select a character at a later stage, this would limit the chances to have Trophies showing up with some weird text on them.......

i agree with Mjolnir that only the person who caught the fish should have name on trophy, after all they'r the one who truly got it and earned it and if they sell it so what, still should have their name on it.

I can understand, but let's look at it on a real life perspective, shall we ?

In real life trophies do not have (on average) the name of their catchers embedded on them.
Most times it just is on a gold plate beneath them and, often, they do not even carry the catcher's name.....

Buttom line is, in real life it can be actually possible for someone other than the catcher to just change the gold plate or add their name on it and make it as if they were the catchers.....

So, why not do it also in UO -as an additional option- when this would help the trading and selling of Trophies ?

Well, I see the game as more vast, it might have Vrtues but it also allows for not so virtuous activities. Bottom line is, that I do not see allowing an option to name the Trophy after someone else, besides the catcher, a problem. It would be, after all, an "option".

Those fishermen who want to stick their names on the catch, will do so when making the Trophy (the embedding IS permanent as I theorized....), those fishermen who will want to leave the option as open to then trade or sell the Trophy to someone else, will have the possibility.

Under my proposal, the fish will STILL carry the name of the fisherman who caught it with the date and weight. The option to "rename" will only be offered when turning the fish into a Trophy.

So, as I see it, it would cater all types of players this way.

These should be mounted on pikes and be placed from the upper story or balconies of the house. Not for the walls, unless your last name is Lecter or Khan.

Hmm... the new trophys should fall like the current fishing trophys he/ she whom killed it has there name on it. and if its to small it should have no name just like fish trophys currently do. and of course like fishing you should not know how big it is is or if it is mountabe till after it is dead.name changing or omiting is not a option in my book.

and by the way the largest deer from my youth was called big ned and I would not care whom shot it as long as I had big Ned on my wall as a trophy.
