Why don't we get stuff?

Sometimes you have to look at the big picture is small amounts to see our value.

I read on one forum list how hard it is to become a EM. In order to get the job you basically cant be from Siege... Or at the very minimum if you play on Siege you cant give a crap about it. I'm guessing thats why all the other EM's gave up in the past. (I'm picturing someone from Siege being the EM and paging Melissa that they're ready to run a event and then losing access just because they cared).

Next forum I went to was the shard rares list. I was wanting to see what daily rares should still spawn on siege. I was curious because you can no longer manuver the front of yur boat under the fruit baskets at Magincia dock to get any of those daily rares (the docks and building are gone now of course). So I started going thru the given rares lists, got too about 2006 and BAMM... Like a ghost town Siege hasnt recieved ANYTHING compared to what other shard have recieved. I went thru a few years and we didnt get not one item. A few years we got 5 items and prodo shards got screens and screens of stuff.

Now they give us all like 4 days notice that there's a EVENT. On alot of shards they have the same event over and over for a few days to make sure everyone has a chance at goodies. Here we all fight for a chance to just BE there, let alone getting the one piece of house decor thats handed out.

I know how some of you feel... Stop pancakes and be happy with what you get. But I believe im justified in saying that the value of my customer dollar IS NOT equal to that of prodo shards, esp the big ass ones where 1 million isnt spit in the bucket, where a small beginners house is 100 million.

Kinda funny... Its like I cant get a EM, let alone a GM too appear here. They force us away from Siege and from EA as a customer base. Thank god there back in texas answering the phones tho.

Please dont rant about Siege here. We all know and have tryed in the past to get attention from EA and its developers. Unless someone promotes Ultima Online we are dead... Everyday there is someone dissatisfied and doesnt come back, and theres nothing drawing new people in. I can hardly believe that a boating addy that puts people out in a boat alone for hours at a time is pushing for a more social/large group agenda. I believe we on Siege are the last of a dying breed that just feels it the most.

I want 2002 back... Or at least I want them to TRY to promote our game life back to what it once was.

I couldn't agree with you more. Mesanna showed up and people fell all over themselves thanking her for coming. She ignored 90% of the conversation in general chat, asked us if we wanted the event (like we were the ******** inbred offspring of "real" UO players and couldn't fathom why we would want what everyone else gets without asking), and then said we could have it the next day. The. Next. Day. Really? Now granted, she so "graciously" extended it by one day but seriously, one day? Would that EVER happen on a prodo shard? And what did everyone do? They thanked her. Well Mesanna, throwing some moldy old scraps at me after all the neglect won't earn my thanks. Sorry, I may get treated like a dog whose been beat but I won't act like one.

Just wanted to say I love how (like myself) you will spend hours of your time helping anyone who's got a voice in general chat.

PLEASE Siege newcomers or vets alike... Just hit the chat button, choose general chat and listen in or let your voice be heard...

One other thing I miss but dont want too push... One that is part of my underskin... Part of the *never safe* fun of OUR shard... One that makes me say again that some "stuff" has been taken from us... its the lack of PK's that smashed your candy filled dreams and rocked yur bunz.

Most the good ones have moved on to other shards. Those that were closest to us in the game have left to RL issues, or just never logged on to be seen again. A house falls... and when it does (even those that greedily pick up the pieces of some other persons play life) we all know its, in truth, its one less person to play with, one less name to see... that makes your heart jump when your out farming with a 1500 luck suit.

We on Siege seem to care, and we fight for what little we get.

Log on, listen in, be heard... Siege welcomes you.

Thanks, Guardian. I've got tons to learn still and talk too much sometimes, so you all will just have to tell me to shut up sometimes when I get carried away. And when we're out and about, I would sure appreciate it if people would remind me when I get to stepping on toes and crowding folks, especially with those damn bouras. Can't wait until I can trade up to something a little less massive (and smelly) and for it to become second nature to walk around stuff instead of trying to walk through it.

That was the problem though. For every 15 minutes of fun people got.. took an hour of planning for me. So when an event ran 3-4 hours, I usually spent a week setting it all up. Disappointing when only 5-6 people would show for that.

the problem with seige EM events is we ALWAYS have the group of people that just come to kill everyone. It's just not gonna work well for an event unless you take that out of the equation.

sure i dont mind the killing and such at all times but this is the real reason it will never work well on seige.

handing out a event reward item also is best handled by a statue that you click. before at many events a single guy would be up in front always getting the rare (feyre anyone).
if you want to make it rare then have it as a 1% chance you get the item when u click statue.

I know lots of people that hated these events because they do everything they can and dont ever get any prize. even last night there were a few telling me they killed several virtue bane and got nothing and they were disappointed. is it so hard to have the reward come off the imbias statue?

anyhow i am guess much other shard events are run in safe from pk areas and dont run into the grieving problem seige has.

so seige has our own player run events and they work out great

Siege just requires an out of the box approach to events to deal with that problem... and the community needs to decide what that is... its not for the EM to guess at...

I agree, but taking them out of the equation would be the event-doer's job. That's how particular people have fun - yes - by spoiling other's fun. That's a huge reason I loved siege at one time. Ruining KSS fight night was a blast. Tons of loot, tons of fun!

If 2 or 3 people can just come in and kill 10+ people, then you're not even trying to fight back. Play dirty! Have some dismount archer stealthers hidden (dual client) and attack the raiders with pets!

I think it's this mindset that sets a lot of events to the back burner, especially for player run events. Unless the event is designed around being attacked as part of the fun, events on other Fel shards or Siege are far and few between. Sometimes an event is just an event and coming in to ruin the fun as part of your fun may be fine, but the end result is just fewer opportunities to do it.

On LS, they used to have Fight Nights in the mage pit in Fel. Every Thursday night, everyone was welcome to come and watch or join players duel in the pit. The unwritten rule was pvp in the pit only and to my surprise the first night going, not one person so much as pinched my butt! I learned a lot from what gear I needed to what macros worked best by watching. Then after the duels were over it was a huge free for all with everyone attacking everyone else. You knew it was coming so either leave before the last two were done or see how fast you could hit your recall button. The fact that everyone who came to those nights made it enjoyable by keeping to a set of standards for those few hours made it the most fun ever.

No. Everyone knew the rules when they started a character here. If you want to leave, fine. Start a new toon on another shard. It's that easy.
Awesome, that's what's great about UO over all the other MMORPGs out there: it's SO broad. Now, if Siege isn't for you, enjoy another shard.

I will agree with you in principle, however, why do you think Siege doesn't have an EM? When the asshats come out just to ruin events, it prevents us from getting any love. Is it really that hard to come together for a couple hours a month or two and actually act like an adult instead of a 13 year old kid for the advancement of the shard? At some point the "big picture" needs to be taken into account and you (collectively, not you specifically) need to ask yourself, "If I keep killing everyone at the event, will we have more events?" and a reasonable person will see that 2+2=4 and know why we DON'T have EM events here.
