would you like to have a larger play window even it it doesn't have zoom just you see more area around you?
This... x 10...and some...If you want a larger play window play the EC.
We like having good, if old-style, graphics over the low quality EC graphics. The CC also still edges out the EC as a User Interface. Why so many are sticking with it.This... x 10...and some...
stop requesting "features" for an obsolete client. Go crazy, leave the previous millennium behind and join 2011.
Rofl This is so untrue... you have it backwardsThe CC also still edges out the EC as a User Interface. Why so many are sticking with it.
.
Agreed/...
Keep the CC supported in terms of keeping it running.
Save the ENHANCEMENTS for the ENHANCED client.
As for the artwork/graphics, let's see what's in the works for the graphics update as stated last HoC and HOPE that they make the difference they need to make.
If UO decided to leave the previous millennium behind, I can promise that they would lose my subscriptions. Forever. And I'm sure I'm not alone in that regard.This... x 10...and some...

I'm pretty much in the same boat.....I'd love to see the 2d play window increased, I still use 2d on an older machine and even that uses a larger res than 800x600!
I use EC almost entirely for the UI though so it wouldn't make me use 2d more.
How big is your display? The fullscreen resolution of the EC only goes up to 2560x1418, which means that what you can see only goes up to 2560x1418.I'd like it big enough to see where spells that hit me from off screen are coming from, or What is targeting me, which means an additional half screen, rather than just the underline 'bar' which I can't target.
does the EC do this?
+1000If a bigger screen size were important to me, I'd just go EC.
It isn't and I won't.
Until I can see my Hildebrandt dragons in all their glory, and in their proper colours, CC will do me just fine.

Though I think if everyone who's machine is able to run the EC would dedicate themselves to training from scratch 1 new character completely in the EC, it would win over tons of folks.
The reason I say this? I did it, finding out how to make macro's for training a character and then seeing how those could convert over to play made a huge difference.
For example, I have most my combative spells set to "Target Current", and healing/buff spells to "Target Self" or "Target Cursor". I never have to target a monster/player more than once... I don't have to look through half a dozen slayer weaps/books in a characters pack... I have a hotkey to swap out each and every one.
When I get rezed I'm re-equipped quicker than any UO Assist macro, for my Sampire that carries a few pieces of LRC gear for casting Vampric embrace I have a hotkey to gear him to his LRC pieces then another to swap them for standard gear. I have buttons on the hotbar for my ethies, I have them for runebooks, no searching! I never lose count of bandages, arrows etc I never have to pull a hotbar for any creature/player the Client does it for me.
When I'm filling Bulk Order Deeds, the grid view packs make combining items with Bods faster, when crafting I don't have to look through things one by one shifting stuff to find that "Keeper" item. When I ware out a tool I just click on my hotbar to use the next one, and I always know how many tools I have available for those long crafting runs, no stopping to tinker a few for me.
I don't have a single "Cluttered" chest in my house, everything is laid out nice and neat for me to view. Thanks to the UI I'm using I know what an item will unravel to just by mousing over, no more collecting tons of items hoping 1-2 will unravel to Relics, I loot with just a right click on an item. When I go shopping and someone has a 30 bajillion scrolls stuffed in a tiny bag, I don't worry I can see each and every one.
The benefits of the EC far out weigh it's negatives, and I understand for some folks using it simply isn't an option. For the rest, try it, really try it give it a week of attention. It will grow on ya, make you wonder after a while why you didn't try it earlier.
As long as the EC is still considered beta, I won't spend a second of my time on it.If you want a larger play window play the EC.
What he said.If you want a larger play window play the EC.
Thanks Woodsman, currently, I'm 1440x900 on a 19" W.S. w/ a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M series card (laptop w/ Intel Celeron M upc)How big is your display? The fullscreen resolution of the EC only goes up to 2560x1418
I have a 42" plasma, but its native vga =1024x768, pooMy monitor is a 42" HDTV.
A ton of reasons actually, but the primary complaint is the targeting system. Also, PvP was not tested in EC beta, and they flat out said they weren't going to support PvP testing. I would love to be able to insta-switch suits on the fly tho.Can you explain why the EC isn't good for PvP?
EC is not PvP friendly. Those who tend to do more Trammel based events are good with EC, and I do see the benefit in it. Those of us who do primarily PvP and/or Fel based events simply can not use EC. I'm sure there are those out there who PvP with EC, but I have never known anyone to do so.
That is just plain and simply not true.I'm glad it works for you. Most PvPers won't use it tho, especially those who have tried it.
Calm down, studly. Just telling you my experience from years of PvPing, knowing many PvPer's across multiple shards, and reading stratics forums. As I said, there are likely some who use it, as evidenced by you and Nexus' admissions of such, but it's more the exception than the rule. That is just plain and simply not true.
1. You cannot speak for the majority of PvPer - how would you know what they think?!
2. I know quite a few who either tried the EC and by that I mean playing it for a few days not only half an hour) and then stuck to it or openly admit it is a good client but they were to lazy get used to it (which is totally within their rights to do so). many others just pancake and wont even try.
No it doesn't, but for some of us it actually fits our style of game play better so in our case it's EC > CC. It's another of those completely subjective subjects that varies from individual to individual.Calm down, studly. Regardless, the point was mostly for those who think 2d should go away and force everyone to play EC. They won't do it cause they know they'd lose a large percentage of the PvP community that way. EC != CC for PvP.
I do not care wether CC sticks around or goes the way of the dodo. If people want to play it old school - let them.Regardless, the point was mostly for those who think 2d should go away and force everyone to play EC.
You're whinyI do not care wether CC sticks around or goes the way of the dodo. If people want to play it old school - let them.
Just don"t try and make the devs put too much energy in it. Theres a reason they did a new client and not upgrade the old one. I cannot start to imagine how it must be to work with 13 year old code that has seen more devs than your average ho customers....
Unfortunately this isn't a good business decision. Good companies shouldn't ignore one sector of their customer base for new business. After all, the new customers will eventually become old customer and some day a new decision that will affect them will happen some day. Companies should work to keep all customers first, pick up new later. But then again, we are talking about EA.I would like to see EA take the short term hit in subs against the bigger picture advantages that developing and supporting one client would offer. Stop allowing these people to dictate serious design decisions and just put it on the table, sack up, and defend your position.
As to this comment, I just want to say that the EC does not work on all new computers. My computers have Athalon processors and the EC runs real sluggish. I have tried 4 different computers with Athalon processors and they all have modern architectures and the EC runs poorly. I wish that it did run better because I am itching to try out Pinco's tools. As time marches on so must the machines that people play on, eventually your 90's era computer will be obsolete for all but Dosbox. You people have already killed one awesome client, I would surely hope the devs don't back down again.
It happens all the time so it must not be to terrible, it's natural that customers will drop off and be replaced with just about any product. I mean if you look back to UO's history there are points where decisions were made that cost them a portion of subscribers.Unfortunately this isn't a good business decision. I cannot speak for every new computer but it runs smooth on both of my computers, one of which is only a few months old running an I9 with Windows 7.As to this comment, I just want to say that the EC does not work on all new computers. Yes, this does happen all the time. This doesn't make it the best thing to do. After all, you can't make a customer out of a non-customer if they have no interest in your product. It happens all the time so it must not be to terrible, it's natural that customers will drop off and be replaced with just about any product. This! Is one of the biggest reasons I wont switch... when the ground textures and this are fixed I'll consider it also id really like the character art fixed darker lines to distinguish where one object starts and another ends...If a bigger screen size were important to me, I'd just go EC.
