Anyone else excited about the next patch? I see a chance for a new great place for events, shops, and community. I've been sitting around and thinking about how there could be some terrific events take place there, such as a pirate invasion that has to be pushed back. Another idea was maybe having to protect a certain house and when it was saved the EM could throw down a chest that everyone could click on and receive a dated item that told of their heroics.
My only fear is that people who just want to make a quick buck get all the spots and the people who really want to make a new community get left out. I would love to see people come together and make it a island nation to be proud of. Maybe we would see a player made library, nice little shops with free repairs and new player items. A public dye house, lockpicking house, arena, and maybe even talk Zelda into holding auctions every now and then there. I know me and my wife will be buying as many tickets as we can and if we do get lucky enough to win a spot we will do our best to make this a place of glory. If we happen to win more than 1 spot (doubtful I know) we will be giving it to someone who has the same plans as us. I feel that just because we might not all be in the same guild there would be no reason we couldn't come together and be a shining example of community pride.

I'm not counting on it to dislodge Luna as a market place, I think it will compete, but not dislodge even if half of what I suspect will be true.

What I do believe is half the plots will go to people who only buy a few tickets, meaning those on the side where it's 1 ticket per account, and 1-2 of the other plots. The rest will probably go to those willing to dump absurd amounts of gold into buying the 2k per tickets.

While it would be nice to see it become a real "community" the odds of getting enough people interested in making it such together isn't great. Many of the solidly community based players are already tied into different communities on the shard now, it's going to be hard to get them to move to Magincia.

Magincia = Fail . There is no advantage to living there over luna or the zento houses. Its just new living space. Exciting till the lottery drawing and after that.....I doubt anyone will care.

There are a few things going against your plan, some listed in previous post.

(1) X-Traders will try to capitalize on the plots. Hold them for ransom.

(2) Most people who would build a community on Magincia already have constructed player towns.

(3) Like I listed above, there is no real advantage over luna or zento. Thus, I doubt many will give up there present housing just to live on magincia. There aren't enough people to get involved. They are already spread thin with their current projects.

Its a noble idea, but I just don't see it happening.

I am not really into any of it, because I know a *humble* community probably will not happen.

I would like to see New Magincia become a fishing village myself. Nothing fancy, humble homes, providing humbler stuffs or humbler services.

Unfortunately GREED will probably rule the island, per shards.

Although I do not see it stealing any thunder from the mega malls all over Luna's on nearly every shard, for selling xsharded bs at inflated prices for myriads of overdosed item$, either.

As for public libraries, public dye tubs, many folks offer those in their homes anyhow. If anyone happens to actually NEED every available dye tub in existance, to use, I even have them all on my porch here for anyone to use too, n/nw of the Brit moongate Tram side, right in front of the last brit garden, before going down to the Brit moongate, house is owned by Queen Zen.

I still will hold out hope that more sensible minds end up winning the lotto tickets and turn New Magincia into something unique that is ...HUMBLER
like a simpler fishing village/township.

As for myself on 2 shards, I am not even gonna buy any tickets. I am perfectly happy with my 2 max secured homes HERE by downtown Brit, and quite happy with my 2 max secureds, by the pixies and on the Brit Beach *my own magincia beach front by downtown brit* [on Siege].
I am not moving on either shard.

I sorta wish CoM was still ON Magincia, having it on the coastline of Moonglow, well does that not make em 1 sigil short of sigils they used to have to try to steal ?

I was in CoM here on Chesapeake, back in the day, tryin to defend the then airy most faction compound EA made ie Maginca...seems a shame to have that history sorta lost or relocated. I still have screenshots of hordes of Shadowlords coming by land and sea to smack us all dead and take our 8 sigils we HAD on Magincia ! LOL

Ah well it now will become a new........whatever Magincia !

I wouldnt call myself sensible so if I do win I promise you a pure marble 4 story box with swamp and lava tiles. Because you know how well that would match the town and you all know how I LOVE marble.

*laughs* Well when ye think on it, white or off white marble permits the most colorful interiors allowed without clashing, with one's green or blue walls.
Bloodwood furny, even shadow furny, looks fab with WHITE MARBLE walls ! And ifn one is really creative, a 'queenly chess piece' can design an entire home to look like a black and white chessboard inside, that she belongs upon !

I bit the dust. Lotto fever got to me !

I bought some lotto tickets in the high dollar sky box seats and the low dollar cheap seats, plots areas.

After seeing the new Inn down there, and the new docks, I also got in the mood for a fishin hut, so I entered.

And I also planted seeds there as well.

But ye are correct georox, greed has contributed to ruining this UO world.

I will also hope that the winners thus new settlers, of the New Magincia, will think more along the lines of HUMBLE buildings, fishing huts, gardening huts, resettling the once lovely island to begin a new settlement, a non greedy non flashy simpler place, with it's own unique identity, competing with no one, no where, tryin to be nothing like anyone, anywhere else, unique onto itself and nothing more, nothing less.

lol dont take this wrong...cause i saw this statement, through all these post....everyone so worried that someone going to get something they are not, or that someone they think should not get a house, they dont want them to get it!!!!

but this last paragraph sounds like something a luna shop owner would say.. Make it small, no shops, just a humble village... ect.. cause we in luna dont want anyone else to have something cool.. Just saying... How about we just be happy for the folks that win, and let them do what they want to do, and not try and tell folks what they should do.. again.. just saying....

Well..honestly I didn't go to Magincia much in the years before it was destroyed by its lack of humility. Didnt really go to Magincia during the year of its occupation by the Bane.

Just looking at the populations of all the other shard npc towns and player towns, I'll let you draw your own conclusions to Magincia's future. But hey I wish ya luck regardless. If ya like to dump gold its gonna be the humble city for you!
