I was sea mining tonite and each time I would get a niter deposit on my legacy ship,I would not be able to move my ship in any direction. Seems the niter deposit locks down my ship.Is this intended or a bug?

Sea Mining and Niter. (possible bug)

While the niter is still on the ship, or once you have mined the niter gone?
While the niter is on my ship,I can't move. When I "mine" the niter gone,I can move again.I get the same message as if I am running into something and being stopped.
There are just some items that don't move with a ship. Until Ore Elementals stop slipping into the water, I have no use for boat mining. Not sure who would complain about niter spawning on a boat but an AFK miner.
I am not nor ever will be an afk miner. Resource gathering is one of the few things left in UO I still enjoy. The niter deposits that I got tonite fell under the ore I had droped on the ships deck.This is why I didn't see it until I tried to move on to another spot.
I have had special footwear bounce around the rails while fishing. And few times they stop movement. Some items fished up before chest pop stop ship movement. It is simply a game mechanic and not a bug. And should be left for the same reason your fur got ruffled. My writing is left open for those that the shoe fits.
If it's falling under, sounds like a bug. I only dungeon mine, so I can't help too much. I've had niter spawn in a place in a dungeon I had to use object handles to mine, though.
You've had niter spawn in a dungeon?! I've had zero results doing that and have given up on it. Which ever-loving dungeon? Boat mining is a PitA, particularly along the edge of the server line north of Minoc. Dang backpacks keep closing.

. I do all my niter mining in Shame dungeon.I also gave my miner 120 macing skill, and I use a elemental slayer smith hammer I got one day from a spawn ;P. But I've been collecting chaga mushrooms, and been working on making a better luck suit.

Glad you stuck with itTwo short halfhour mining sessions the last two days got zilch. Today I've gotten 6 niter deposits for close to 700 saltpeter in a couple hours. Beats the tar out of sea minings 30 to 50 each.
. I usually use garg picks and kill shadow eles to help collect ingots to fill powder BODs, which breaks up the time.
