Why can't i cancel my Account.

The price keeps going up and i keep paying for it.
Heck, i cancelled SKY because it was rubbish and i didn't want to pay for TV i'm not even watching.

So i ask again why can i not bring myself to press the Cancel Subscription button.

haha I know the feeling. When the official word was given about no classic shard, It felt like I was killing part of my soul for each account I shut down.

If you have been playing UO for a long time, cancelling your accounts...especially your primary account...is like walking out of a bad marriage. There are so many memories and an inexplicable delusion that one day, things will get better.

I can't, and won't, advise you on what to do...but I cancelled my accounts a few months ago, all three of them...2 of which were over 13 years old...

...and it was strangely liberating.

I understand the tv thing. I recently canceled my cable because I wasn't using it.

I have eleven accounts. The oldest will shortly be 11 years old. I had closed down all but four of them but due to housing spots I wanted to have, I'm back up to six active accounts again. I'd really like to get down to three active accounts but I'm just addicted to houses and do utilize characters on all six accounts.

I didn't play much for nearly two years but I suppose now, that I've resigned myself to sticking around until they pull the plug.

There's always hope that things will get better. That and all the stories from people that posted they closed their last account, gave all their stuff away and it's goodbye to UO forever, and 6 months later their back saying how much they missed the game, they tried others and it just didn't feel right, and oh by the way can I have some of my stuff back.

I've still got three accounts open that will all run out in May. None have a house on them. Two closed accounts have houses on them that will fall at some point in the future unless something drastic happens and I open the accounts again. A guildmate took over my oldest account last summer. All my other accounts are closed. I didn't upgrade anything with the High Seas booster.

I log on and mess around with some unfinished and poorly funded crafters and miner/LJ characters for an hour or so every couple of days or maybe try to get taming gains on some of the tamers once in a blue moon. I sometimes even run around on one of my very poor and untrained characters on Siege. Poo has safely stashed rune libraries and stuff like house add-ons and dye tubs and has my blessing to use them if the guild is ever active on a particular shard again.

For a number of reasons, I don't know if I'll extend any accounts when the three currently active accounts run out in May:

• I'm never on when my guildmates are anymore, late at night.
  
• The detect hidden change made late last year with no explanation as to why it was being done effectively ruined 14 of my faction characters on seven shards because I have no desire to make those characters "red" just to use a skill. Factions also seems to me to just be a joke because of the artifacts and the kill point inflation and the elimination of the rules that really set faction characters apart and in many ways made you more reliant on your guild mates (e.g., one character per account per shard could be in factions, couldn't be healed/rezzed by nonfaction characters in Trammel, couldn't accept pets from nonfaction characters, etc.).
  
• EM events have no appeal for me. Most of my houses were guild houses shared with four other people and thus they and my characters' bank boxes never had a lot of extra storage space for purely decorative stuff. EM events also often seem to be scheduled during what is prime family time in our household. I'm also bothered by the way so many shards are overlooked for EM-run activities and how Mesanna seems to have favorite shards when it comes to doing things like manually placing NPCs or event-related spawn.
  
• Global events that anyone can participate in on any shard and at almost any time during the day have been pretty sparse in the last year or two and very poorly explained, to the point that I've just never felt compelled to get involved. I think I have maybe three characters scattered around that share maybe 300 or 400 loyalty points from the very first event in T2A, and most of those points were earned on Origin in the first week or so.
  
• The couple of bane dragons some of my tamers have are still unbonded and likely to stay that way because everything I've read about them makes it sound like they are kinda pointless as pets.
  
• The High Seas booster had no appeal for me and not worth the cost because I have only one GM fisher character and she's on a closed account. Also, many things included in the booster sound like they're buggy and I haven't heard of anything in the booster that any of my characters really "need." At this point, not knowing how much longer I'll even play or even how much longer the game will survive, I just can't justify paying for the booster for even one account.

At this point, I'm not sure what changes the UO team could make to UO that would really draw me back in again. I'm hanging on by a thread still, but only because I've still got oodles of untrained characters scattered all over the place and I've always enjoyed building up new characters and starting out from scratch on new shards. I'm just finding myself asking more and more often what's the point of even doing that.

Simple, because UO is more important than say, your left arm, you cannot function without UO, even if you are not active it still brings balance to your life
