I recently came in to possession of a blaze cu, I have let it bond and wanted to start working its skills. A friend of mine in game told me if he had one he would never take it out of the stables for fear of losing it. Is this really something I should be concerned with. I have played off and on sense uo has came out, and have yet to lose a pet to a bug. But you never know I would like some others input about it.

I have a really nice motorbike in RL. It looks the shiz is a great fun ride but I keep it in a shed cause I have heard I might drop it, or get hit by a car, or blow the engine when taking it above 10,900 revs, or even might get hit by lightening.... So i keep my bike in my shed, I never use it and nobody gets to see my awesome bike.

:)

I think that demonstrates a point... At some point you may very well lose it. If it worries you theres no point you having it. Sell it or use it. Dont let it collect dust in a stable.

I will post some when I get home I just riped that one from my facebook :)

And on the bag issue EL oh EL,... My wife when she use to play would say the same exact thing. I would log in to find all my chests in my house properly organised and the same with my characters. I think my just throw it in there attitude caused her to quit :p

Train it, hunt with it, and have fun with it. I have never lost a pet to the "mysterious pet poofing bugs". Just use good, solid tamer practices, such as:
Keeping it fed, Stabling it when not in use, Not relying on the "Auto-Stable", and not using it after the "server is going down shortly message".

Nice indeed! :)

I have never lost a pet either. A story I can tell you though is about how I nearly lost a pet, but only cause of my own stupid acts.

Twas Thanksgiving 2010. I was out hunting with a couple friends, trying to kill one of them big turkeys, so we had something to roast over the fire that evening.
We found one of them huge monsters somewhere north of the Moonglow cemetary and all 3 of us were amazed by its size.
It being a Turkey though we didn't think it would cause us much trouble at all.
With my Discording skill, my one friend's trained Greater Dragon and my other's superb magery skills it shouldn't be too much trouble to take one down.

I started discording this great beast and it's strength was reduced on the first try.
My friends started attacking it with the Greater Dragon and with spells and I joined with the occasional spell very soon.

Being the discoer of the group I wasn't expecting to be hit at all, so I didn't see a problem in riding my Dread Warhorse.
A problem with my black horse was that I had to use a talisman to properly control its actions.
Still, no problem since I was wearing the talisman.

Soon after we started hitting this Giant Turkey one of my friends was drawn towards it by some odd force and got hit... once, twice... This nearly took him down and the two of us could barely keep him alive with a spell or two.
After having invised him, the Turkey did not try to attack him again.
Close... but no cigar!
We kept hitting...
Soon after I was sucked towards the creature and it hit me. No idea how often it hit me, but I was dead quickly!

Oh noes!!!! The Turkey started hitting my beautiful Dread Warhorse!
Quickly one of my friends revived me.
Seeing that my horse was dying I wanted to call it towards me and ride it out of there... out of the range of the Giant Turkey's sharp beak.

Never did I think about the talisman... I lost it somewhere when I was killed by the Turkey.
I yelled at my horse and yelled... All it did was Whinny. What happened next I did not expect... The horse broke loose from my control!
My heart pounded... I just lost control of my beautiful horse and it was still being pounded by the Turkey! I was sure the horse was going to die soon.
How did this all happen?!

Then I remembererd the talisman... How stupid!
I saw the talisman in my backpack and put it on. Quickly I ran towards the horse started to tame it... The soothing words I used soon calmed it down and not long before it was going to die, the horse let me on his back.
I rode it out of there as fast as possible, out of the range of the Giant Turkey!

How lucky was I !!!!
Not because of some odd bug did I almost loose not only a cherished, but also a very expensive horse.

So don't let this happen to you! ;)

For that very reason, I would never play a tamer using jewels to control pets. I would forget and lose a pet. Real skill ftw ^^

Wow you got lucky to retame your dread. No problem with jewels you just gotta remember to equip yourself. Something like this should rarely or never happen; The EC has a 1-button equip everything functionality. I think UO assist does as well if you're in the CC.
