New to this Sampire thing, have classic warrior PvM but want more.
After Items: STR 121 - DEX 132 - INT 31
Skills: Anat - Real: 112 Cap: 115
Chiv - Real: 41 Cap: 100
Focus - GM: 100
Heal - Real: 110 Cap: 120
Parry - GM: 100
Swords - Real: 105 Cap:105
Tactics - GM: 100
According to a template I was reading about by Zalan:
Got the start on 120 Swords and 120 Parry. Says I need atleast 99 Necromancy but will do GM 100 and 50 Bushido but it doesn't say what chiv skill level I should zero in on. I'm not a potion drinker (not very multi-tasker) if you know what I mean, I'm not expecting anyone to tell me a template but head me in the right direction according to your level of playing would help a lot. Also what combat skills ie: Swords, fencing, macing would be better to use?

I would say around 60 so you have a decent success rate of casting Enemy of One

In general sampire templates will look like this:

120 weapon
120 bush
100 tac
100 anat**
100 heal**
99 necro
Rest Chiv (70ish?)

** These 2 skills can be swapped around depending what you are fighting, common things you might put here would be anat, heal, parry, resist (for undead necro casters), and SS

You are going to want to dump focus- not needed, you will leech from your weapons or pop divine aura in chiv to refresh. Your weaps will have hit mana leech, hit stamina leech, either super or single slayer, and then depending on other things it might have di/hit area/SSI in the last 2 slots.

If you can't afford the 120's, go for 115's, or whatever you can afford.

Swords has the heavier hitters, but you will need accompanying equipment to swing at cap. It has the 1 handed radiant scimitar for whirlwinding and pot chugging. Fencing has the leafblade but I find the damage lacking in the weapons for pvm (some sword weaps do almost twice as much overall) but there are tons of fencing fans and you don't need all that sta/dex gear on a fencer, making it cheap for a beginner. Macing has some really good stuff too.

Use soulstones and "storage" character for your alternate skills if you swap anat/resist/heal/parry around.

There is also a recent trend of people making Garg Throwers, most are doing whammy but I run mine in sampire mode occasionally and its very fun. I figured as a ranged thrower a lot of the things you need as a weapon based sampire can be avoided.. (like no need to feint if you are 10 tiles away)..(unless the monster summons or you can't kite it around)

My sampire is "higher end," so i use swords. But that generally requires ssi also on gear as JD said.

If i was starting from scratch, id probably go macing. But since you already are doing swords, Dashio is relatively fast, might only need 20 ssi on it, and has feint and double hit. Ornate is probably out of the question unless you have ssi gear. Id use Double axe, and for easy spawn probably a radiant.

Major thing is your stam, you are a warrior so probably know, but its even more important for a sampire, as you have to hit to heal, and need stam to swing. So i wouldnt have less than 150 stam (few points higher never hurts) Higher end sampire usually has over 180 stam, unless you rely on pots.

One question for JD; is the 100 anat 100 tact you mentioned just for ease of swapping out skills? or is there some other reason that im missing. I use 120 tact 80 anat for the slightly higher damage. But i never switch out skills, I just use apples and boxes and stuff when needed.

I think the only real requirement for a sampire is:

120 weapon
120 bushido
99 necro
(50-70) chiv
(90-120) tactics

Everything else is whatever you want it to be.

On Great Lakes, which is my primary shard, I use swords, 120 tact/anat and 100 LJ for massive AI spamming. I use heartwood to get HCI to free up mod slots elsewhere, max LMC, stats, etc.

On all other shards I make a macing sampire with 100 tact/anat and healing, and I throw in 60 parry. My suit is pretty mediocre with faction artifacts everywhere except for gorget, arms, and jewelry.

I've noticed only one difference when playing them. They both have the same survivability, and can kill the same mobs. Just my lumberjack sampire on GL does it about 66% quicker due to the massive damage output.

Any sampire will work, its just a matter of what your resources are and how you want to play.

Thanks a bunch for you guys taking the time to give me some heads up pointers :thumbup: As stated I'm a NOOB to this sampire character :mf_prop: I was under the impression that Parry was needed to defend off attacks without a shield, and only 60 needed for Bushido from Zalan's template, I'm assuming Anat goes with Healing (with Bandies I'm again assuming) :stretcher: but others that I've talked to about this type of toon, I don't think said anything about Tactics :confused: If the Sammie uses Necro for casting spells why wouldn't it need a high INT/Mana along with Meditation for casting the spells? lol and what are these "apples & boxes" smoot was talking about ? When it comes to weapons do I want to zero in on only 100% physical damage by using iron or elemental damage by using colored ore ? and Again Thanks and be patient cuz I don't move on till I understand things.

Because you will only use one necromancy spell one time. Vampiric Embrace. That will stay with you until you die.

I'm done. This has all been covered under about 100 threads on this forum. Use the search function.

well technically he is right, we see a lot of the same question over and over, and for old timers like him i can see how it could be annoying to see that people aren't at least using a search before asking. he has been insanely helpful to me, you just have to approach people the right way, do a little research, and not show up empty handed. constructively, maybe there something missing from the FAQ that would be helpful to answer some of these questions?

but anyway to answer the other question, i'm recommending 100's for people unfamiliar because it keeps things simple and also its easy to stone things around. but my current template i'm running:

120 weap
100 tac (gm bonus)
85 anat (enough to res)
100 healing (enhanced bandies, and maybe even want to pump it to 110 one day)
70 chiv

This is my "core". These skills do not change and they are locked. And then from there I can go with different configurations (I am on a 705 skill pt account):

* Stone on 120 weap, resist, or parry
* Stone on 99 necro for vamp form + 21 focus/sw
* Stone on 100 hiding for PVP action + 21 focus/sw
* Stone on 100 ninja + 21 focus/sw
* Stone off bush, Stone on 100 hiding, 95.1 stealth, and rest ninja/focus for stealth dude

(etc)

But I like building around a "core" which doesn't change, and then you can customize your character from there depending what your purpose is....
