Yes, it is Miss Cleo.Is it so ridiculous? you can't speak in game when dead, why can you speak in general and bypass that? and then some
New? What is your definition of new? Party chat was added in April, 2000.well the whole chat thing is a fairly new invention...
What is the negative side to being able to talk in chat dead?well the whole chat thing is a fairly new invention, ok i'll fold on the party chat, you can talk in party. I may even fold on the guild chat under pressure, but being able to speak in general chat? that's stupid
Well, in that case, why not be able to speak freely when dead anyway? What is the negative side to being able to talk in chat dead?
Well in game speech is IC really so it makes sense it would be OoooOoo unless you have SS, As UO is a Roleplaying game.Well, in that case, why not be able to speak freely when dead anyway?
I like consistency,
Also, i personally nor most of my guild are connected to general chat, however messages from my secretary are often relayed to me that someone has broadcasted in general chat that we've raided them at a champ, or just general rage chat upon death.
This idea has potential. Ninjitsu+animal lore adds bonus to what each form gives you.Perhaps would even add a couple of forms at 80/80 and 100/100 skill levels......or use animal form w/o animal lore.....
I cant think of any time I have seen someone rage because you raided them in global Merv. Infact... It has been Shadow Lords raiding this week, none of CoM. Handy thing though that Merv, when someones calling you out as a challenge (which I am unsure why people do, but eh, its always 2.0 guild when they do) you cant see them to come to them.Well, in that case, why not be able to speak freely when dead anyway?

4. Iv done 2 champs in the whole of my 10 year UO life so epic fail for you againFrom what you've posted.
1: You're a failed pychologist
2: You die a lot and like to rage in chat after death and will do anything to protect your right to trash talk when in a rage.
3. All of the above
Yep, I mean come on how do you know what you're transforming into if you know nothing about the creature you're attempting to transform into sheesh! This idea has potential. Ninjitsu+animal lore adds bonus to what each form gives you.Perhaps would even add a couple of forms at 80/80 and 100/100 skill levels.
Bottom line is this is just a whine and they don't want it going out that they are raiding a spawn to PK everyone and take thier scrolls.Well, in that case, why not be able to speak freely when dead anyway?

...sooo, an alchemist can't use their own potion to it's potential? Think that idea needs a bit of re-thinking or it needs expanding. Even so, I think taste id would make a lot more sense than item id.or use potions with ease w/o item id skill,
I propose you should not be able to speak in general, guild, alliance, nor party chat when dead unless you have the spirit speak skill.
The benefits are:
To add extra grief to those who have been killed, to increase their rage, yet have it contained within themselves.
How dare they try to cut off my long distance telephone conversation with my UO friend just because my character died. :gun:I propose you should not be able to speak in general, guild, alliance, nor party chat when dead unless you have the spirit speak skill.
From a game point of view, I agree with you.
When a Ghost, noone should be able to comunicate with the Ghost unless a Ghost themselves or they have Spirit Speak.
This is, I think, what would make sense from the game point of view.
Problem is, applications other than UO like chat programs, speak utilities and so forth which make it pointless to "fix" this issue within the game unless they are also addressed when playing ultima Online.
It would be necessary, as I see it, to first make it not possible to use any application utility when running the Ultima Online Client otherwise any restriction to speak to ghosts in the game can be resolved using other ways outside of the game.
This speaks volumes to me:

I find your motives for wanting this change to be somewhat questionable.
You know what dipswitch...read the sticky on community development. Nuff said.Yet another stupid idea from mervyn. A dime a dozen.
Suppose we should also consent to EA giving them access to block all third party chat applications once our characters die in game?
Goes both ways, if people couldn't have conversations with the dead in general chat then there would be much less griefing, rage logging, ect done in general chat. This speaks volumes to me:

I suggest a ghost should require spirit speak to speak (like it always has been) and suddenly you've leaped to this?Yet another stupid idea from mervyn. A dime a dozen.

The only issue I could see with this is with someone asking for player help dead in a dungeon. Unless there was a workaround disabling a players ability to ask for help would defeat the purpose of general chat.I suggest a ghost should require spirit speak to speak (like it always has been) and suddenly you've leaped to this?
Name another "stupid idea" i've had, all i ever post about is bugs, which eventually do get fixed.
Greetings from GM Mr. GM:if ghost - help chat?
Your request:
OoOoO OooO, o oOoO oO Oooo oO ooOoOo. OoOo o OOooOoo oOoo!
OK you need both, item taste ID AND alchemy! muhahaha...sooo, an alchemist can't use their own potion to it's potential? Think that idea needs a bit of re-thinking or it needs expanding. Even so, I think taste id would make a lot more sense than item id.

Nah nah nah. Just alchy and taste id. Item id to use the magic weapons. LolOK you need both, item taste ID AND alchemy! muhahaha
I don't think I would want my characters to know what an explosion potion would taste like....sooo, an alchemist can't use their own potion to it's potential? It's only logical that this is implemented in the next publish! These are serious matters!Nah nah nah. Just alchy and taste id. Item id to use the magic weapons. Lol
