MAJOR Dreadhorn Mistake..

So...I needed something to do yesterday, so I ran around collecting 2 of all of the Dread Horn keys with my Necro/Macer. I run around in wraith mode, so not a Sampire...but close to the same, and not really relevant I guess...

Anyway, so I get the keys (a pain as always), then I go in..I drop the first Dread Horn in about 15-20 minutes...no prob, collect my loot and I still have 40 minutes of luck statue left...I go all the way back down...get the bottle (honor self) go to the island...then Honor Dread Horn...or so I thought...I cast Enemy of One, Curse Wep, and away I go...

And then I notice the Perfectin System is NOT running on the left...Uh Oh...I must not have gotten close enough to Dread when I honored him and did not notice...crap! So, instead of a 15-20 minute killing, it takes about 40 minutes and I nearly died 3 or 4 times...

Feint-Curse Wep-EO1-Consec Wep...non-stop but still only hitting for 35-76 Dmg per swing...thank goodness for Feint and Curse Wep or I woud have died...

Anyway, after all the work to kill Dread w/o honor, I did not even get any good loot as my luck ran out about 5 minutes prior...LOL...

Learn from my mistakes...ALWAYS ensure you honor properly before you attatck...

Had something similar happen to me, hopped on the island only to find a dreadhorn that was at 80% health or so. The bad thing was, i was on a gargoyle whammy with macing. Did create the char just some days before this happened, didnt have a feint weapon in pack and just wanted to see how he fares. Did not go to well but learned my lesson and got more practice since then.

Btw just curious about your damage numbers, you use tessen or nunchaku ? Did always think nunchaku could work very well with wraith and curse weapon because of the low stamina reqiurement, but didnt find the time to try this yet.

How could you get on the island if someone else had started a DH and not finished?

I was using "Wind's Edge". I love the 50 SSI since Dread is ALWAYS beating down your stamina. I have tried using a few different Tessen, and some work for differnt things (espeically if your fighting something with high Energy resists and you don't feel like casting Consec. Wep all day), but I normally use wind's edge.

I have been contemplating getting a Leafblade of Ease made with UBWS so I could use Shield/Wep, but haven't quite decided to do so yet. I wonder if anyone else has tried this...

But Yes, Wraith form/Bush works great. I RARELY die, and often end up between Irk, Guille, Spite, and a spider all at once...you must ensure you honor all targets, and when facing more than one rotate between feint (between targets), and Momentum strike.

I can leech 50-80 HP per hit that way and with Wind's Edge being a 2s wep, with 50 SSI, you are ALWAYS swinging. Ensure you have 45 hci/dci and try to get to 100 DI.

I am in a 70/70/70/70/70 100 DI, 60 SSSI, 25 HPI, 45 HCI, 60 DCI, 100 LRC suit. I don't have a lot of LMC or MR, but in Wraith form you leech Mana every hit, AND Wind's edge has 25% ML as well, so low mana cost/MR not an issue (unless you die of course)...

I acutally have 85/75/70/70/76; that way when I cast protetion in human mode and still be @ 70/70/70/70/70, and when still in Wraith Mode still be at all 70s. (Wraith Mode give you -5 Fire, and -5 Eneg.

Would also like to know how it did happen. Was at statue, used keys and found a damaged dreadhorn. That was some months ago, the only other thing i remember is that there was another player in twisted weald at this time and dreadhorn was near him when i came onto the island. But he was at the shore, not at the island.
Dreadhorn could have been damaged from a self bless, but i doubt it. Think it was a bit more damage than that, but i could be wrong.

Found the same on my gargoyle wammy. Tessen, 35 ssi, 50 hci , protection and bushido/ parry on char is rather bullet proof. Nothing except para or mana drain can disrupt your curse weapon and you always swing at cap even with 0 stam. And without needing stam leech, there is even room for hld and hla on the weapon.
Was also my preferred setup against ancient hellhounds and turkeys, but this time with stam leech because of the -50 ssi they do.

You can get on the island after server up regardless if someone has summoned or dropped keys just prior to server downtime.

I've walked into two Paroxysmus before and 2 Dreadhorn. They may have changed that two won't spawn anymore without telling anyone. Maybe the first cancels out so a new one won't spawn. I doubt it but that would explain it otherwise it's quite an oddity.

Thanks, I see you have no skill points on items. Does this mean that you have all 720 skill points real ? You have 6x 120s ?

Or what is your skills assortment ?

Sorry, I did not respond earlier..I was tied up.

I am as follows:

120 SS
120 Mace
120 Tact
120 Bush
120 Anat
80 Chiv
40 Necro

I have 120 STR, 105 DEX, & 30 INT for stats..

Basically, the template is simple...honor everything...if it's tough start attack with feint...then lightning strike until it's dead...

If you are fighting a nasy such as Dread, or named Changlings to get keys or other things then ensure you keep curse wep lit up as it will LEECH tons of Life. This must be done in Wraith mode so you are constnatly leeching Mana as well...as long as you honor first you will really never run out of mana...this works great on Miasma as well as you will leech right thru Curse or poison, so no need to heal.

The 80 Chiv allows for basically all Chiv spells including noble Sac, and the 40 necro is plenty for Wraith Form (will fizzle a bit), and Curse Wep (never fizzle if Protection is on).

Always remeber to cast Prot when you die (which won't be often). Alos, if fighting a champ spawn, or doom, etc...don't plan on fighitg bosses without dieing if you did not get to honor first..and then be ready for Feint/lightning strike/lightning strike/conesc wep/feint/curse wep/LS/LS/Feint etc....
