Bigger Mailbox - George, TGN, Stratics, please. Would be great!

- Hi, aye my PM box is 98% full and I have deleted many that I wish I could still read. I like to use my PM's for reference and quick linking. Is there anyway we could be allowed more PM's in our box; 'twould be great.

Altering their forum software and storage allowances is clearly a much better solution than you just pasting some of your old messages into text files and saving them if they're so important.

I drew TGN's attention to this thread. They'll see it. It'll depend on how much room we have on the server. At the moment, we're running slower than most forums, so it might be challenging to do, but we'll see.

I support your request. IF needed, as mine is generally unused ... they may assign >My unused portion/allotment< beyond ... 5?(should be sufficient for me) TO You ...

Before the last wipe I had hundreds of private messages in my inbox all the way back to 2003. It is too bad they were all lost. It would be nice if the limit was raised to at least 500.

When my pm box gets full, I download the messages I want to keep as text using the drop down box at the bottom of the list:

An option to compress and archive might help, ideally the ability to save them to your own PC so there's no space required on the Stratics servers, but that's liable to be complicated to set up. Saving as .txt is an option, but fiddly...

Edit : Edit - OK, one test later and that works on multiple messages ....think that's a good enough solution for me.

Yes it is. It only takes a little time to change globally, while its a hassle for many users to be so limited in PM box.

This limitation was something that was put in almost back at the beginning of the vBB switchover years ago and that was because the server was way way worse than it should be today.

But then the problem doesn't come so often. The larger, the less often.

To save them as text file mean you lose the readability and mobility of your messages as you save them on one computer. Plus, once you have dozens of files, it becomes really hard to find what you need.

(now I don't have to steal Fayled Dhreams' PM space.. but could ya'll perhaps show me a backdoor into his mailbox btw FD, at one time I could have PM'd you had I abused certain priveleges.. but I did not for that is not how I roll; and that is another story for another time)
