Of course feel free to flame away but I can't be the only one feeling this, but this has to be the worst producer/dev team ever. (playing since 1999 by the way)

P.S. Cal if you plan to move Formosa back to the US please ball up and post something on UO Heard, don't feel like paying for 300ms ping, thanks big guy.

Googling the IP's show them to still be in the same geographic location with west-coast shards being outside of LA and the east-coast shards in Virginia.

It appears they moved the Oceania shard without saying anything to anyone. That's pretty ****ed up.

Don't know.. when they worked so long on the new client with no updates and then presented the client ... which is still in beta or was that the one before ....

They messed uo quite often, but nothing beats the mess AOS brought...

Well, there is always the example of thier work called High Seas.

Pirate ships tend to be invulnerable.

Cannon supplies require saltpeter which the Devs have nearly completely strangled off, even despite the claims of a few of how many thousands of saltpeter they can get an hour with extreme ease.

Shoot, they added all those Alchemists that sold saltpeter so players could have plenty for making cannon supples, apparently realized, "OMG! They're actually going to be able to enjoy fighting ship to ship with cannons like we advertised! Get rid of the Alchemists and give them some imeffective method to get saltpeter that we'll rave about but will make sure most can't enjoy the ship to ship fighting of the 'great awesome, <other PR bull> of High Seas!'

The process of making the cannon supplies using just game provided software tends to be slow, tedious, and a ridiculous amount of work. It's rarely sold even in Luna on Chessie.

Fish now weigh 10 stone so you have to drag a pack animal around to unload your backpack into every few minutes. Do this on shore and the pack animal will throw itself into the jaws of the first monster it can.

I'm getting ticked just thinking about High Seas, I'll let others list off more faults.

EDIT:

And then there is the new Britannia ship with it's price guarenteed to be out of the reach of 99% of the Players. Can you say 'wasted Dev Time' Cal?

Disagree. Every team has some bad crap that happens. They introduced lots of stuff over the years, endured heavy lay-offs and still managed to bring in new stuff. Considering their lack of staff and resources they are still managing. But saying since 1999 is a huge overstatement. Sometimes they just have to make descisions that are necesary for the future of this game regardless. Although I wish they'd decide to stick with just one client already so they can focus on just one.

@Tanivar, you need to do better than that.. there are those of us that didn't get HS and are unaffected by most of what you listed.

If this thread was about the worst Publish ever, I'd have to simply agree.
Isn't the price of a new (other than UO) game about double the cost of the booster? which is pretty much guaranteed to function correctly, or money back? At 1/2 the cost, I'd of expected much better performance than what people received

Worst Dev team? hmmm, worst mouthpiece representing UO? Definitely
Layoffs? If I remember, Cal said they were "more than good" for people
remember Chrissay?? constant communication between Dev's and us users,
now compare that to what we have now. What does that make Cal, and his statement?
OP... I agree 100%

I give them a bit more credit--and not just to be a fan boi. I genuinely think that there is a lot of passion/talent on the dev team, but I think that their efforts/ideas have been significantly hampered by EA. EA's decision to cut 80 Mythic jobs, coupled with obvious increasing demands for profitability, has left the Mythic team understaffed, under-resourced, and exhausted.

Hang in there, Mythic. Remember that even though we disagree with you sometimes, we're all here because we love this game.

This. EA isn't exactly giving them much to work with.

Agreed. I don't think the dev team is really bad. Plus the original complaint here might have nothing to do with the dev team at all, might not even be up to the producer....Although would have been nice for the OC players to know their server would be located half way around the world. Give them time to plan a hostile take over of a shard that might actually be close to them. How Cal, or ANYONE could have thought moving the server across the planet would not cause pings to multiply by 10 or more, even on the best hardware and internet connection, is beyond me. Just look at the hosts they are using for travel to the servers, even native players are having a hard time. Let alone people across the world......hmm, this started out with wanting to give them praise, but I guess current events are preventing that.

Question...

If EA can't properly supply the resources for the team then why don't they just sell mythic back to the original people that sold UO to EA in the first place? Just assuming that EA wasn't the original owners, or were they? Or theres always strike lol, after all it's the people that make this game, and if EA can't supply the talented people that the game requires then sell it back to those that could or those that will.

Mythic never owned the game. EA has always owned UO, and has owned Origin systems (The original company for Ultima) since 1992. I doubt they would ever sell the property, it makes them more money than a sale would.
