Fighting Bane Chosen Guards with an Archer : hardly any damage ?

I am trying to build Loyalty on my Archer, it sure is no beefed up archer but neither a total junk one...

He has 120 Archery and 115 Tactics as well as Chivalry.
Always casts Enemy of One and Consecrate Weapon against Guards.

I have tried several different bows, demon slayers.
I do have SSI and DI

Hardly any damage is done and the Guard heals back more than I can do damage.

I seem to miss a lot and the few hits which land are for like 30-40 points.

I have been using a demon bow witht he same archer which used to do like 150-200 to the Dark Father who is also Demon Slayer so I am not understanding why to these Guards I do hardly any damage.

Is there a way that I can better my damage at these Guards ?

Also, while shooting I of course move around and they keep bouncing back to their spawn point. It is annoying. Also, I keep getting teleported to them and hit badly.

Is there a way to avoid it ?

Standing 1 tile away from them will prevent you from teleporting to them, successfully doing that while moving around is pretty much impossible.

Comparing apples and oranges, only thing I can tell you is to get disco.

WTFLOLOL 1 tile away so I dont get bounced back to their spawn point? LOL I am an archer and I have 10 tile range LOLOLOLOLOLOLROFLLOLOL why would I be given a 10 tile range if the game wants me to fight within 1 tile away from the guard? DEVs please answer this issue officially if this archer getting bounced back to the monster is intended because it just doesnt make sense why I spent all the time and energy and trained up my super archer and now I cant use my range that I spent hundreds thousands of hours to trained for. And unlike them melee losers who get to train to 120 for free I had to PAY for arrows and bolts when I skill up. UNFAIR... CHANGE THIS NONSENSE PLEASE!!!

WHY? WHY CANT I COMPARE APPLES TO ORANGES? THEY ARE BOTH FRUITS YOU FFS. Besides I can do 300+ damage to DFs 6 years ago and now as my archer got more experienced I can only hit the guards for 20 with EoO AND using a slayer weapon? THIS IS NOT APPLES TO ORANGES EVEN IF THEY ARE TECHNICALLY COMPARABLE SINCE THEY ARE BOTH FRUITS!!!11one1!eleven1 See DF used to be the super boss and I can hit for 300 and the guards i the new super boss now too so they are both fruits OK!!! Therefore I can compare them. So DEVs please listen and please change this bull**** non-sense... why I was able to hit DF for 300+ and now I can only do 20 to the guards??? AND I WHIFF SOMETIMES??? ROFLLOLOLOLOLWTF I HAVE HCI AND LIGHTING STRIKE TOO WHY I WHIFF??? LOLOLOLOLOLOL DEVS please change this ****, why melee dexer hits 120% of the time and I sometimes whiff? And why is it when melee losers whiff they dont lose anything and I LOSE arrows and bolts when I whiff? OLLOLOLOLWTF **** this game why so unfair? Please DEV please change it so this game is more reasonable.

By the way, I was much surprised to see that Focus Crystals do not stack for better storage purposes. I thought the Devs wanted to introduce new items as stackables as much as possible....

I think I was doing more damage than that with out a slayer on my wife's disco archer....I know her skills are horrible, as in untrained, so I can't exactly say why you do the damage you do. On the other hand.....30-40 is not that bad, depending on what your swing is at. If you are swinging at 2 seconds then yea not the best, but if swinging at 1.25 then it is not horrible either. When the server the archer is on comes back up I will check the damage.

The guards are not things you are really suppose to solo. EVERYONE does poor danage against them.

So, for sh*ts and giggles, I went to test it out. Using a magical short bow, not a slayer. 100 DI over all, eoo and divine fury (no concecrating). I did 34 damage on average.

with tactics at 85.4 and anatomy at 99.9 Archery is 95.4.

of course I discoed it as I said. So I imagine with a slayer would be double.

Using a yumi, with only 81 DI I do almost 55 average, so again double if was a slayer.

The Guards are Virtuebane's elite.

They are hard.

They are not the first monster to teleport archers to them. Nor will they be the last, in all likelihood. It is to make them harder.

No one does high damage against them. This is because they have high resists and lack a terribly vulnerable spot.

Armor ignore works well. As does sheer persistence.

They teleport back to the spawn point, presumably, as a crude way to duplicate military discipline. "Hold this spot."

Not sure if you can or cannot.
Been way too long since i played a bard character, but brigands were at the end not bardable though you could bard onto them.

They eat thru bane dragons in a few hits.
AI on a wammy is the fastest way.

Has anyone used a "Mystic" bow on Guards, yet? In the past, there were a few special event critters that took serious damage only when one of the old scholl Mystic weapons were used ...

You can attempt and succeed Provokes on all the Bane but none of it actually fights.

The guards are easily soloable on many templates. The easiest being a Throwing/wammy which can hit 273 every 1.5s. Staying within two tiles you never get hit or teleported. Archery can hit 291. Melee can hit 255. Ninjas, Tamers, Discorders, Necro/Mages, Spellweavers all also work.

I have two sampires which I bring of which one has disco. I honor with my main and spam LS with a demon ornate. Other account discos and just stands around. Dead in a few minutes but the loot sucks.

Exactly. My archer wammy can spam AI and does alot of damage. I do find that when teleported you go out of war mode which is very annoying.

I am asking because the Archer I was trying, sure, just a regular archer no end game one, was merely doing 30-40 damage and this was after Enemy of One, Consecrate Weapon and the Fury chivalry spell which increases damage and swing.

Actually, the question was not much about how many points would be fair, really, but how to increase the damage output of an archer for this particular target......
OMG, read the boards and make a wammy for goodness sake. Its not a end game char more of one of the current temps that actually work. If you're running a basic archer who is built for PvP(read as some LMC,MR with bushido and chiv but no necro or other modern stuffs) but are fighting in the PvM relm.

Work your suit to fit in DI, make a bow with ML, decent SSI, HLA and the slayer. In no time you will be hitting the larger numbers.

120 Tactics, 120 Anatomy, 120 Bushido, Heavy Crossbow, 150 Str, 100 DI on items, Demon Slayer + Enemy Of One or Demon Slayer + Perfection can reach 291 damage with critical hits. This applies to every monster that has a Slayer.

But by every 1.5s you are referring to AI instead of criticals from LS spam, correct?

i can pretty much solo a bane guard within the 3 minutes of the eoo before it runs out... i also never get ported

ninjitsu sampire, focus gem demon slayer hatchet, eoo, consecrate, 140-160 pt AI and LS crits if memory serves correct

i tailored this char to kill them tho.

I'd add "wraith form" for the win, as the combination of AI and HML will make sure that a wammy pretty much always has the mana they need to spam AI for big damage.

Having said that, we usually hunt guards as a group of tamers with GDs, and usually being pulled in next to the guards isn't a problem as long as the guard are "fixated" on one of the GDs.
