This evening, on the eve of the eve of the eve of Christmas, the EM's treated the Chesapeake community to a little holiday treat. At the appointed time of 9pm Eastern sharp, a gate appeared at the bank in Luna. It led to Lord Balandar's home, on the eastern tip of Verity Isle in Trammel.

There, two gates lay awaiting, one labeled the Nice Gate and the other the Naughty Gate.

The Nice Gate led to Grizelda the Hag's broken down hovel in Trammel, just a short ways north of Gyldenfeld. A magical nutcracker stood silently in the corner. Double-clicking it yielded a fluffy pair of holiday socks!

The Naughty Gate led to Grizelda the Hag's broken down hovel, but this time in Felucca. Here, too, a magical nutcracker stood in the corner. Double-clicking it yielded a Burnt Xmas Apron!

Each gift from EM's Dudley and Drosselmeyer was only redeemable once each per character. Some people managed to claim both gifts with a character, some relogged with another char and got both. But overall, however, the magical appearance of the gift giving nutcrackers was short, perhaps 15 minutes, certainly ensuring all those who awaited promptly at 9pm got one or two of these gifts while also, hopefully, impairing those who would seek several dozen or more of each!

Neither EM appeared for the duration that I saw, but as this is last EM event of 2010, happy holidays to both EM's and see you next year!

I would say impairing those who are not on for that 15 minute window but no matter I wouldn't expect anything more or less of Chesapeake EMs. Thanks Redstar for the write up even though I was unable to attend, it is nice to see pictures and a recap.

Side note... I get very tired and annoyed when the EMs do a quick 15minute event where if your not standing in Luna or someone isn't sending out a mass icq, no one knows what is going on. I hope the EMs New Year Resolutions are to get better communication skills and not be so stubborn....(Is that off topic?)

Wasn't 15 minutes. The gate wasn't up at 9 EST, and it was already gone by 9:12 EST. I kept an eye on the clock as I was dashing around.

I dont know Gareth, I kinda like the randomness of it all. Sometimes its good to be in the right place at the right time. I can understand one's frustration though.

Personally I would have rather had a monster encounter with no rewards. Would you of guessed...undead!?

If you want to give the EM's a chance to respond to praise, questions or criticisms, you'll have to post in the Ches EM forum as they cannot post elsewhere and, frankly, it's not really fair to call them out where they can't respond :)

As for limiting the duration of the event, personally I dont think it was a bad idea. I think the intent was to give everyone a little holiday something, not a x-shardable item worth millions or something which could be stockpiled necessitating another 20% storage increase with the next expansion/booster, lol

Sorry for those who arrived late, ask around, I know some people got multiples of each item, maybe in the Christmas spirit they will give you one! :) The event was scheduled over 3 weeks ago, so if ya got there late it's not the EM's fault, lol. Christmas is two days away and I havent gotten anything for my wife yet, not her fault, I won't be cursing her when I'm hunting for a spot in the parking lot 3 miles away from the store and it's pouring rain tomorrow, hahaha!

If I want my questions answered I will email them or post on the EM forums. (I cannot move threads to the EM Forums) If the EMs would like to respond they can do so by creating a thread on the EM forums and quoting any messages over here.

Now yes it is nice to have random events and they did post the event weeks before but what happened to the quick notification on the EM forums. Many of us do RSS feeds that alert us when they post. Having a 10minute Holiday event for a select few is just ridiculous in my opinion. As for a undead attack, heck id welcome one if it was undead holiday creatures, can the undead attack be undead Slushy snowman?

Now as for the items, well they are items and wasn't the point of my disappointment I knew someone would have one for me anyways hehe. Thank you Geo and The Mac.

I would certainly run away from a Gareth made slushy snowman. Your tree was lovely, the snowman was lol :D

Idea for next year: Slushy snowmen take over Luna! Take note EM's, k? Thx!

My next year idea is this, Chesapeake is normally the stink bomb for holiday stuff. I highly suggesting going to the following shards for EM Holiday events.

Pacific (I have a thing for throwing explosion pots at their EM)
naughty soap, naughty child cod liver oil, caroling tambourine, and yuletide log

Catskills (Always good items)
Spoiled X-mas Santa milk, Toy bell, Coal for the naughty, and Baked Chocolate pie by Mrs. Claus

Baja (Never a dull time)
Pajamas, X-mas Book, Smelly socks
