What are my options to get close to the 75 DCI cap?

Atm I get 10 from night eyes, 15 from my weapon, & 5 from my quiver. So all together I am at 30 DCI. The only two options I see left are really AoF or Fey leggings, which I am trying not to use because they really make a dent in my suit planning with their poor resists. :/

Even if I use AoF or Fey Leggings, it only pulls my DCI up to 45-50. The only way I can get anywhere close to the cap then is to equip a shield which I am trying not to do as I want to have one hand free.

Am I missing any major piece of armor that will help me here? Is there another route besides AoF or Fey Legs?

How about a DCI totem? Is there one?

Slither has 10

Lavaliere has 10

Twinkling Scimitar (one handed mage wep) has 20

Corguls Sash (if you can sacrifice the LT Sash) has 5 DCI

Ring of Soulbinder not to bad mods has 15 DCI, or can use customized jewels to get 30 from jewelry

Conjurors Garb + Tangle = 10 DCI

So if your getting 10 from night eyes, 15 from wep, 5 from quiver you could actually be getting 5 more from a 20 DCI wep, 10 from slither, 10 from conjurors garb + tangle. That'd put you at 55, then get 15 from jewels or instead get 15 from Fey Leggings, ditch the quiver and get the 1 MR 2 LMC cloak of rejuv? (or is it augmentation? I cant remember)

Personally I prefer using shield for my DCI over a mage wep cause i hate being disarmed and having to run around till i can re arm lol so I run with wrestling, thinking of switchign to anatomy+eval though. Thats on a mystic mage with 120 wrestling.

The options above should help you but please take note of the following:

DCI cap as a human or elf is 45 and Hit Lower Defense drops you by 25 so your goal should be 70, no need for 75.

something ive been looking at lately is the mana phasing orb. ive seen them with 10 LRC, 5 DCI, and 6 LMC. plus a random regen, either hp, stamina, or mana. i have a hp regen one. would almost prefer stamina more tho. mana would be nice too.

and yes shoot for 70 45 cap + 25 from HLD = 70. never heard of gargs having a dci cap of 50. are you sure that isnt HCI you're mixing up for DCI?

ACK!!!

I read those publish notes wrong long ago and just added that in to make myself feel better about having a gargoyle. yes you are correct 50 HCI and only 45 DCI.

it would be nice though, wouldn't it :)
if only they would let us mod our gargs' wing size.
i can't stand these 15 foot things which block my ability to open chests, loot corpses, and require me to shift+alt stuff. most of the time i just say !#$! it and turn flying off if I am crafting. the wings are just too annoyingly big.

I like the Light's Rampart replica, expensive shield to be sure but have to love the 20DCI it gives. Its such a forgotten piece that it isnt even listed on the page of items with DCI that a poster above included. Considering it has SC it works well for a mage that needs DCI

Metal Shield
Spell Channeling
Defense Chance Increase 20%
Physical Resist 4%
Fire Resist 5%
Cold Resist 13%
Poison Resist 3%
Energy Resist 3%
Durability 150/150

I love this shield too, i used to run it on my parry mage, and since shields can't be disarmed anymore I absolutly used the resistance to my advantage.

that 20dci shield is nice, but the arcane shield with 15dci and 1fc is a much better piece when incorporated into a suit as a whole. You can negate 140(?) intensity off of a jewel because of the 1FC.

I know ur just talking about dci, but that could also be the difference in some cases, of getting 15dci on a jewel vs. none or like 5.

on this same subject of DCI

i notice a lot of people running with an imbued Planesword mage weapon.
What makes this better then a normal mage weapon?

and how do you get one of these Planesword swords?

thanks

They are from the moonglow event ox, so can't get them no more. I am not sure about the second part of your question though.

planeswords dont have damage increase on them, but have the 500 imbue weight intensity, so you can fit more mods useful for a mage. you can still find them around without too much trouble.

To get 70dci, the cookie cutter faction gear suit is by far the easiest to make, but of course not a super high end one.

kasa - 10dci and 12 sdi
heart of lion - 15dci
ring - 3fcr, 15 mage skill, 3sdi, 25 ep
treatise on alchemy for the 5 magery, and ep

then your orny, leggings, gorget, arms, gloves for mods / needed resists

then theres the quiver, tangle, conjurers garb, corguls sash (if you have high seas) (probably dont want to use the new invasion sash with spell focus)

then your mageweapon, either 15 or 20 dci

Thats the most affordable suit, and you have a bit of room with items, like you can still get your 70 without the dci sash, or if you dont have a garb or a tangle.

One step up is to incorporate faction folded steel, 25 dci, and 8 str, but then have to get your sdi and resists elsewhere.

With imbuing and all the new gear, its pretty easy. Before all that i was very happy to have 45 dci on my pvp mage suit.

For a wrestle mage i go.

Lights rampart (20)
ring (15)
Conjurers (5)
Tangle (5)
Sash (5)
Fey legs (20)

For a non wrestle;

Scimitar (20)
AOF (15)
Folded Steels (15)
Ring (15)
Conjurers (5)

Both are 70DCI all 70's, butt loads of MR, 25HPI, (end with about 170mana), 40lmc, 2/6, wrestle has 10HPR too.

Are you mad!! Spell focus is amazing! even in PvP!

Invasion sash > Corgul's EVERY TIME! (for mage)

I havent used one for pvp, maybe ill give it a try. I know its good for drawn out fight, (which is the case most the time i guess in pvp) Im assuming it goes above the 15 percent sdi pvp cap?

Was just saying he might want to avoid it, because if hes trying to figure out how to get 70 dci on a mage suit, i assumed he didnt have much experience with mage pvp, and might not want to deal with all that counting. but yeah your right i could be wrong on that, maybe hes just asking about all the new gear and best way to get the 70.

Anyway theres lots of posts about the spell focus sash on here if the OP is interested in using it.

In my limited testing, it doesn't appear that the new sash affects Spell Weaving at all. WoD does the same damamge for me with, or without, the sash.

You can always imbuee 15% dci on a ring and braclet it's also relativly cheap to obtain.
I'm also a fan of the Heart of the Lion.
