Just noticed red named Hell Houds in Skara Brae : is there an invasion ?

I just recalled to the bank at Skara Brae, Trammel, and there were red named Hell Hounds and others.

Is there perhaps some invasion ? What are the towns interested ?

Also, I noticed more lag as compared to yesterday, is that just a coincidence or does it have anything to do with the invasion for some reasons ?

Well to be honest, I was thinking the same thing Mal posted...I mean, it's been done and overdone for a week. And Popps is posting something 20 times a day...

Meanwhile, for me, invasion is already over. Can't cast that in town, blah blah blah. Can't lure anything away from Guardzone, it rebounds right back in. And I'm not spending the time to slay em one by one with ebolts. Same ole guardzone story, every time. And for you who will be saying "well, work for it for a change, instead of ev ev ev" that'll be fair when the tamers can only use a mare instead of a GD, when archers can only use one type bow, etc etc...looks like sooner or later the devs would realize they are taking away half a mage's arsenal with the GZ, and I say that with a straight face, cause you have to admit 2/3 of the spells in the book are fairly useless now.

Yes, I will be skipping the entire invasion scenario since my main (a mystic mage) is useless. Pity, that, because I usually spend many hours, days, weeks on the new content.

Seems it's the same way, over and over and over. They always forget the GZ...Do none of em play this game and try it out? Are they all tamers? And then they get mad about us pancakes, so they turn off the guardzone and make everything there insta dispel, so they get the last laugh in anyway

Sorry, but lately pretty much all of my gaming time has been poured into fishing.
Yes, also posting I pretty much have been selective in either paying attention to fishing issues or taking care of the tickets trading.

I just noticed the invasion because I recalled to Skara and bumped into them but to be honest my mind was not set for the invasion.

Not that I noticed it I seem to recall posts from a while back asking about it but to be honest, I have not been actively paying attention to it, fishing was pretty much my world for the recent past days.

Besides, fishing can be quite a very time consuming activity in between fishing for shallow, deep and dungeon fish as well as crabs and lobsters.

I wished my time was endless but unfortunately that is not the case and I have to make choices with the little time I have at end.

By the way, will all towns be interested by it ? Only some ? So far I saw them only in Skara Brae, not in Luna, for example. Anyone knows what are/will be the towns interested by the invasion ?

Yeah, I just did some with my mystic mage in Trinsic on LA, and without EVs or RCs, the best I could do was energy bolts and flamestrikes -- and as it turned out, the most useful thing I could do is keep healing the pets of other tamers there and occasionally resurrect other killed players. And, of course, that is only lucrative if you are out with friends who will cut you in on their loot, since the mage that keeps the GD's alive gets no credit for the kill or the right to loot since they didn't kill anything, but merely kept their friends alive.

My tamer isn't strong enough yet (and no GD yet, just a regular dragon) and my archer regularly hunts Slasher in the Abyss so I can't let that toon become an enemy of the Bane lest those hell hounds get all over me. So I was pretty much left with the mystic mage by default.

And I agree what was said earlier -- some people who don't play mages regularly may say "boo hoo" about mages and mystics not being allowed to use summoning spells like EV and RC, but would they like it if their archer couldn't use their best bow or their tamer wasn't allowed to bring their GD into town?

If you had read the publish notes, you would have a better idea. OK, having said that, I didn't get a specification of towns, but I have the impression it will be those in Britannia, and that's about all I got into, before my "give-a-darn" broke, and I went on to something else.

It's not a matter of "sympathy." It's just a statement than anything that happens in the guardzones puts mages and mystics at a disadvantage because a huge part of their "game" has been taken away. And that's fine as long as various other events impact other professions in a similar way, though I'm not aware of any event where archers aren't allowed to spam AI in wammy form or where tamers can't bring GDs. As I said I play several character types a lot and thus have no "anti-mage bias" agenda to throw out, and those I hunt with are good about sharing loot for the "offensive linemen" of efforts like this, folks who help a lot but don't get the glory, the loyalty points or the right to loot. I have no axe to grind.

Having said that, if the folks I hunted with had your attitude there's no way I'd be willing to come along and help you get the loot and the glory while I stayed behind helping to keep your GD alive (and perhaps heal and resurrect you from time to time).

And not everyone casts two evs and hides, some people cast 2 evs and use them to tank (like you do your GD) and then ebolt and FS at the same time.

I've been lucky in taht the alliance i am in, I can stand behind them and heal GDs all evening long, and at the end, I get something...every healer should be so lucky.

The Latest Announcements on the patch screen should have info that is the latest and greatest aplling to all shards. The info in Latest Announcements should be like a town cryer of information and redflag warnings. Not everyone with their few hours of online entertainment wnat to come spend half it here gleeming through the boards. As far as red flag info, how many people would of been happier with the game not wasting gold or dye charges on dragon scale barding? Little things like this build up and **** players off. A "WARNING" don't waste gold any cloth dyed white or game mechanics abused acquired dye tubs. The tubs are being added as a monster loot drop. This would of relieved players stress and being a rule bending donkey will not make you rich. The news drop tubs could of been coded off from the NPC earned ones and players peddling them caught could spend three days playing Spider Solitaire instead of UO.

The short: Latest Announcements needs the latest and greatest player need to know info. Not peddling the High Seas booster. And swap Latest Announcements with Patch Notes for space used in the window.

Awww poor mages.... so stop crying over gz and diversify the character! I keep a gd in my mages stable and soulstone tame lore when situation calls for it, or i just Word of Death things the tamers were killing hehehe and if your a pure mage ummm... you can allways summon elementals/demon and use them as pets.. mystic mages well the mystic dmg spells are strong and theres allways a healer nearby to rez you since your not used to spell combat you ev freeks.

Key to a successfull character is to eat every 120 ps and have 15+ soulstones

A mage is actually my preferred character for the invasion. I'm doing pretty well. An archer still has a little better damage output, but I don't want to waste so much ammo.

Mages do well in the invasion as long as you stay away from the Bane guards, apart from them the rest is easy with slayer spell books and EB's and lots of running. Havent died yet, though i probly will at some point lol.

Im getting my loyalty points I need to do the new ophidian quest so what better way to do it than to take part in the event.

Aye Id like to use EV's where ever possible but atm i cant so I just hit and run.

On a side note Provo seems to not work or it may just be me, it seems to have no effect. Ill give it another go when I can.

This. The "good guys" have drops as well, which you can always trade for the drops on the "bad guys". So if it is an item-based need you have, you can trade items for items. Go ahead and give the Bane side a try... without evil there would be no need for good! Switch sides even...
