You still have to leave the guardzone to do that. And you can cast earth elms anyway ...so ...
this doesn't make any senseNah, go roll a dexer
Yeah EV's and other summons arn't allowed but when the invasion comes, all we'll get to see are the backs and wings of greater dragons. We'll have to use "all names" to target the banes that come in.The summon restrictions were in place when UO was concerned about lag. Then they were retained because NPCs could be killed in town.
Now, most NPCs are invulnerable (yellow named) so it shouldn't matter anymore. Mages should be able to cast summons AND use EQ in town. No justifiable reason to tie the hands of a template anymore.
Ding Ding Ding!! We have a winner Bob!! Tamers will overrun the towns..Yeah EV's and other summons arn't allowed but when the invasion comes, all we'll get to see are the backs and wings of greater dragons. We'll have to use "all names" to target the banes that come in.
Not sure but wasn't the restriction done because people EV players? The summon restrictions were in place when UO was concerned about lag. Then they were retained because NPCs could be killed in town.

On Great Lakes, you'd feel like there is no guardzone in Moonglow. A mongbat wanders in and you can yell "guards" all you want --- nothing happens.Personally I have no idea why guardzones in Trammel exist at all.
To kill the lonely Ogre or so that follows a new player into town?
Maybe we don't 'need' EV's but it is nice to have them as an option. The summons provide a secondary avenue for damage output, and in most cases act as a shield between us and what we are targeting. This option is always denied us when a city is invaded. If summons are not an option then allow us to have aoe spells unblocked. Give us back our 7th and 8th circle spells please.Real mages do not need EV's. Your mana and time is much more efficiently utilized with direct damage spells.
