great idea, poor execution once again

not all the metal arties can be dyed
the colors are the trick or treating ones? bleh yuck
a better gift would have been a tool that samples colors from the game enviroment and then applies it to a tub.

I would atleast like it if the metal dye tub could dye the various metal colors out there, such as valorite or agapite etc.

Wep and plate dyed w/ new hues. As mentioned, shields still cannot be dyed. Nor can jewelry. Limited metallic dye tub.

I think we all need relax a bit and stop complaining. It's not perfect but a welcomed step in the right direction over using dyes with limited numbers of charges. I think the color options are fine. I would like to see it fixed do that we could dye metal jewelry and shields.

Has anyone tested it on artifact metal items such as the Rune Beetle Carapace, Jackal's Collar, or the Heart of the Lion to verify it works properly with those?

relax? maybe the dev's need to stop relaxing and make good on an item they offer as a reward, look it is a nice idea as i stated, but you dont even have the original base metal colors available, is that going to be the "special metallic dye tub"?

and yes it works on artifacts such as inquisitor's, glad collar, carapace, weps as well. i think its only the shields that missed it

Does not work on:
-Rings
-Bracelets
-Glasses (Head slot)
-Shields
-Necklaces
-Earrings

Assuming doesn't work with any tinker made metal tools either. Doesn't work on a pickaxe or a tinker toolkit ;P.

I'm pretty sure these are "Rewards" and not something anyone should have the right to really complain about. It's like snickering at family when they get you something you don't like for Christmas, you just don't do it.

Otherwise I think a new tub is pretty cool.

Well to a point. We don't pay our family to get us gifts. I'm not complaining about the gifts myself. They do a good job on the effort front.

I also think the tub is nice, and the borua would have been great if not for the fact that they decided to paint bucket white wash it. If it was regular boura colors it would be waaaaay cooler to me.

The rugs on the other hand... don't feel to me like they fit in with the rest of the game art. The applications are nice though.

I understand we pay to play this game, but the original game design did not include Vet Rewards. They were added in later as a thank you for playing our game type of thing. Call me crazy but I am happy to have an ethy period.

I simply do not understand why we can not have some kind of unified color scheme.

Metal colors as in actual ores do not match BoD cloth rewards, ToT dyes almost match cloth rewards, but introduced new colors and did not cover some of the more popular cloth colors (crimson and the two different reds)

Wood anything is completely out there on its own.

And now this

Pass

How hard could it be to introduce a crimson dye?

And who decided these graded colors were cool anyhow? That nasty Dryad green is more appealing.

*edit*
I wanted to revise this only a bit to add that if you are playing in the EC then the color shading becomes, at least, interesting. I'm still not a fan of the colors offered accept maybe for a vendor or something as a look at me option.

I'm just saying anything they provide to entertain us is all part of trying to keep us playing, and giving them money.

I think is ok to criticize/critique gifts so long as its not just to be mean. The more input they get the better product we potentially get in return.

I am not being sarcastic here...for once, but seriously...why not just release dye tubes that just dye anything any color?

It has no negative effect on gameplay, and players would love to customize their characters even more.

Having taken a look a couple of other MMOs recently, I can say the following:

- UO really shines when it comes to character customization. Go play WoW, and you will see that everyone at blank level with blank gear that are blank class look just alike. Boring!

- Champions Online has the right idea! Make it so that you can make your character look however you want. It's your character, and if you want to make her look really awesome, or really silly, or really dark, or really perky...you should be able to...without having to do anything special. In the old days of UO, we had cloth, and dye tubs. These were not expensive or restricted to any certain group. The idea was the same as Champions...let the play decide what they want to look like. Good idea!

I went to Test Center and play around with the tub. It works on (parenthesis is specific items I tested):

- All normal metal armor
- All normal metal weapons
- All normal metal shields
- Artifact weapons (i.e. Berserker's maul)
- Artifact armor (RBC, Jackal's Collar)
- Artifact Shields (i.e. Chaos Shield, Arcane Shield, Aegis)

It does not work on:
- Glasses (i.e. Brightsight lenses)
- Normal Jewelry
- Artifact Jewelry (Orny, Crystalline Ring)

I think the colors are fine. It is definitely personal opinion if you like the color options or not. There is nothing wrong with the color implementation. You can make some hideous colors, but I also fouind some really nice ones I'd use.

I plan to get tub after evaluating it. I can do some cool stuff with to accenting my suits.

Having played around with it a bit on test I conclude that I'm most happy with the results if I choose the highlight colour that is closest to the base colour.

Works on shields now? Cool, step in the right direction. I couldn't get any shields to dye when I was on last.

It was in the last set of notes, they also added metal chests to the list and the ability to colour them when they're locked down in a house.

I think I might have preferred a tub that dyes the same colours as the leather tub.
The Halloween colours are nice, but it would be nice to be able to match metal pieces with leather pieces (and cloth pieces, in the case of the bugged leather tubs). Although I suppose it comes down to not wanting to render the relatively boring "natural" ToT pigments redundant.

Yes, I also verified on TC. It works on artifact shields (i.e. Sign of Chaos, Aegis, Arcane Shield). I also purchased a metal shield from the local npc blacksmith and it also can be dyed.

Hopefully the devs will adjust to include jewelry and glasses.

Played with one on Test Center. Immediately went back to Atlantic and claimed my last available vet reward for something else. What horrible colors.

People will def complain if glasses aren't included.

I really don't understand this. You could be having a feeding frenzy, instead you're letting your good taste get in the way. It's your own fault, dude.

I'm a bit sad for the gardeners. For once they had something to sell apart from orange petals and an incentive to grow all colors and now it's been made nearly obsolete.

The rare color plants will still sell, but yeah, not for nearly as much with the white dye tub coming in and all the other stuff.

Nothing but plant-grown dyes can make my heart of the Lion black. Or my plate arms a non-horrible red. Or anything not ridiculous.

Trust me, next time I need to color something I plan to actually wear? I'll be buying some dyes. The colors this tub can make are mostly absurd-looking metallic pastels.

No really? I love pastel, can we get a little sharper with the pink cause my warrior looks much better when the out side edge of his shield, sword and armor glow with the pastel highlights.

I might have used a public one to hue my 5437945398453 visually identical Blackthorn Krysses so I could tell them apart more easily, but I already did that with plant dye a couple months ago anyway.
