Washed out hues

I logged in today and the hues for my runebooks and spellbooks are incorrect. They have a very washed out color to them. Anyone know why?

I noticed when I logged in to run some treasure maps in the EC. I guess they're fine with CC?

edit: It seems any sort of colored deed is also affected by this.

edit2: And after even further inspection, a huge number of items that have hues applied to them are washed out. =\

It seems the center of my ash soulforge is NOT as it was before the snow fell. I've noticed a few other oddities in the ec as well, like the EM placed lantern in Haven...

I thought that the ore that I was pulling from my carts looked a little washed out as well, even adjusting the brightness in the User Settings didn't really seem to make much of a difference, still washed out more than they used to be anyway.

Perhaps when they coded the fading paint for the new boats, it accidentally got coded onto additional colored objects. It is about time for the first fading to occur.

I noticed the colors were different, also.

I noticed that my bronze vet robe was faded big time.
Also the trick or treat stuff i made for my gargoyle was faded realy dark,it lost its sheen..

They definitely did something to the colours - not sure yet if I like it...

Managed to find an old screenie to compare colours:

New on the left, Old on the right.

I like the brighter colours, I think they are closer to 2d but the rune symbol is harder to see now.

My purple baskets are a mucky red colour.
My white baskets are normal basket colour.
My blue com deed box is a sort of mucky red.
My dyed silvery boxes are normal small box colour.
My snowman is green.
My ice patches are red.
My piles of snow are dirt coloured.

Me? I'm unimpressed.

On those New/Old screenie pics, looks like they made it brighter? most of UO is too dark anyways. I looked at some shadow ore(large pieces) last nite and they looked not as dark as I remember, and maybe it's me,but it seemed to lean towards the redish-purple hue also

Looks to me like they're trying to fix the hueing system finally... it hasn't really been complete since KR was launched.

Can't say that I'm a fan. I like better contrast between details that what's being shown. The Runebook example, the "new" version looks too "fuzzy" (ya know the old complaint about the KR client) compared to the old version.

Of course I can always play with the monitor and video card settings to see if I can improve it on my end as well.

Aye. I can't speak for the christmas stuff, but the other stuff, the containers, have been that way for months.

Also, side note; is it just my codeine addled imagination, or were the snow trees last year more like the maples foliage wise, rather than the peach tree sort of style we have this year? I can't help thinkin it's changed, although I could very well be wrong.
