Do you agree that the effort vs reward in UO is heavily weighted on effort?

Been doing navreys for 6 hours now. Myself and 1 other guildmate.

We do 150 - 240 Damage to navrey a pop. Drop her pretty quick, no deaths.

1 guy comes down, Complete Garbage suit. He brags about doing 45 damage to navrey with magic arrow. He does 3 with us, and gets a tangle.

We've been down here for 6 hours straight, 0 Drops. Lame

I jokingly made a comment to my friend that we would have better chances finding someone in fel with an uninsured tangle and killing them than doing these. Then I realized it was True.....

Friend just came down and did 2 Navreys with us, and he got a 3.0 Stealthing. We still have gotten nothing. 7 HOURS.

The problem is not the drop rate.

The problem is the lack of adventure and the importance of items. That's why people don't play for the fun of it anymore, but for rewards and items. Otherwise you'd fight the Stygian Dragon just because it is a great challenge.
I agree thats the problem with the game at large, but the game being the kinda lame item based game it is isn't working as it should.

I totally understand your frustration, like ive done sooo many mels and never got a crimson, while a friend got one his first run. This is kinda why i posted earlier that i think drop rates are fine, so that the game doesnt promote farming something until you get a drop. If you had fun killing the big scary spider for hours, thats great, but i wouldnt do it just to get a drop, because then that 6 hours probably wouldnt be very fun when a guy shows up and gets lucky.

For me its fun to just go around and bash or burn stuff, and if get a shiney then its a plus, its not a minus if i dont get anything.

(p.s. only tangle that dropped for me was the victim of a server revert, and yeah it sucked but i was just like "well thats UO")

I think the game needs to get more into the fun of just doing things. We have plenty of stuff to get and farm for. If they can make it for fun to do so, well, I think that's the way to go.
