I don't like this design. It was bad enough having to fight people under an overhang in the old COM base, now they will have that plus the roof and a 3 tile choke? This will become one of the most easily defended bases by far.

Also that Enhanced Client blurry star effect hurts my eyes, literally. I wouldn't be able to play there with that. I got teared up just looking at it for a few moments in the video.

Good video!

Definitely right about the star field blending with the water, looks odd.

They really need to FIX the star field graphic so it doesn't stretch outward from the center anymore. It used to look so cool in KR... All wavey and "deep" looking. Now it’s just hokey and blurred.

Awesome job. I like the new base a lot. =] Glad I'm already in Com, and I'm glad I don't have to travel by boat for sigils anymore!

I've heard a lot of Factioners complaining that COM's base is a lot better than any other base for fighting for mainly two reasons: Choke point and the fact it's two stories.

Personally, I've only ever been in the TB and COM bases, never MIN or SL. If this is really such an issue, I'm sure redesigning both bases would not be that difficult of a task. But redisgning structures based on fighting reasons isn't meaningful anymore - people never duke it out for sigils anymore as owning towns are quite useless unless you need faction horses. If the devs were to totally redesign factions and make actually owning sigils worth while again, which creates the fights and base fights, I would say it's absolutely necessary.

Then again I don't see snow either on TC1, wasn't that supposed to be in the publish just done to it?

Oh I got nothing wrong with the greatness of Ultima Online, to me it's still the best MMORPG out there.
Just kind of empty... :( Maybe free to play will bring back some numbers (even if for a time) like Pirates of the Burning Sea, Champions Online, etc.

Star field doesn't bother me, but, once again, I don't PvP w/ EC so ...

Sl base has multiple 1 tile choke points, and tb has massive crap in the way? Minax is the only base that "might" have 2 tiles all the way through but I have not checked this in awhile. If anything CoM's new base has the widest choke point of current bases.

But I think what JC was complaining about is the combination of the over hang, the roof, and the 3 tile choke.

I got seasick just watching that video and the blurry stars just annoyed my eyes.

Glad I won't be going to that base.

The snow will be on all shards, the CoM base only on TC1.
I've had them fail before, but it generally says that they failed, then you delete the temp files and let it re-patch...but when it first went it seemed to succeed, and now all I get when running uopatch is the normal..

Mmm, would rather they just put sea round it tastefully than stars...I know they're mages but surely they can be tasteful too lol. I'm not sure about the white and blue tiles either, looks a bit "stuck on" and strange.

I'm thinking we need a decoration contest :D

It's possible that patch will not work correctly on some systems. If this happened - you can find in your uo 2d client folder 21 files with names like RT<random letter><5 digits>. It's temporary patch files used by 2d client patcher. For some reason patch didn't replaced old version of files with new ones (but reported about successful patching). You should rename temp files according to the following table (filename, filesize):
1) AnimationFrame2.uop 46398030 bytes
2) AnimationSequence.uop 94878 bytes
3) art.mul 113545104 bytes
4) artidx.mul 982608 bytes
5) client.exe 3301376 bytes

I still don't see it having much on Minax or SL. CoM deserves a decent base, finally.

Admittedly I haven't tested anything with it, just watched the video, but I do see that entrance being a bugger... ;)

while the arches leading into the min base are wider, there are two spots in the path leading to the min base which are only 2 tiles wide. makes it fairly easy to defend.

Are you forgetting the entry to the mountain that is 1 or 2 tiles the whole way?

Who cares, there is no reason to defend the bases anyways.

I am having this same issue. Problem for me NOW is I uninstalled before someone linked this post to me. I now have no patch files in my folder due to a clean install and the patch reporting it is UPDATED. HELP!!!

Who cares, there is no reason to defend the bases anyways.
That path should have been made wider. It is also a double-edged sword for the defenders. You could just as easily get fielded behind and trapped. The only real defense point is at the entrance of the base.

You will care when there is a reason to defend bases again. It would be more difficult later on to rebuild the whole base yet again. Why not do it right the first time.

Ummm Minax Base has a huge pathway before that JC. Don't try and act like that massive choke isn't part of the base.
