Killing Turkeys

Can anyone suggest how to kill the giant turkeys without a legendary bard? I have just started playing again and don't know anyone on the shard.

I have tried to fight them, but they hit me once or twice and kill me. I even tried from a boat, but I was teleported to the bird and killed.

I can't seem to be able to provoke them with 96 provoke.

All advice appreciated.

One word, Archery. Takes a while but it works. Even when they hit you with the slow down you can still stay out of it's range while you heal up.

Ring up to 120 or close to it and use exceptional instrument.

Lure to a house, and you get on the steps, step off, whack it once or twice, step back on, should only take a couple hours +1-2k aids

When the event started last year - I first used an archer. It takes quite a while but what I did was I find a empty house plot and shoot them across it.

If you get in the right position relative to the turkeys the AI is not sophisticated enough to tell them how to move round the plot to you. Then you simply shoot until you kill it and hopefully not have to move too much..

Its time consuming but can be done. I very quickly moved on to my Bard and never went back as that is so much easier.

You dont have to be a legendary bard..my bard is only 109 with jewelry. She sometimes fails a couple of times but many times she succeeds on the first try.

+skill jewls, ex. insturment, and the provo mastery all give a boost to your provo chance. You should be able to get at least a 50% chance or higher depending on your skill caps

It is very easy in fact:

Just remember that this is an MMO and not a singleplayer game and get some other player to help you. In a group they usually go down pretty fast.

Since you already have a pretty trained up provoker, easiest way is to use him.

If you haven't used any provocation powerscrolls yet, simply equip an item to get it to GM. (the +5 from the bard talisman will boost your 96 provoke to GM)

Next, do the provocation bard mastery quest to get a 10% bonus chance.

Finally, use an exceptional instrument to get another 10% bonus chance.

That should give you an exactly 50/50 chance to provoke the turkeys.

Don't stand too close when you provoke. If you fail, it's the first target that will come after you, so keep the first target as far away as possible. Make sure you are mounted and lead the turkey around in a circle until you have waited out the skill delay.

For better chances, buy a cheap 110 music ps and a 110 provoke ps and jewel up to 110 music/provoke.

This will increase your chances to 70%.

I've solo'd about a dozen turkeys so far on my ABC Fisher/Archer. IMO, not worth the effort of solo'ing unless you enjoy the particular tedium for relatively low rewards. The turkeys just aren't that fun to fight alone.

On the few times I've found a group to hunt with, it was much more fun and the turkeys go down much faster. In the same time I can solo 1, a group can take down several.

My problem is that I can't always find a group when I have time to play. And when I do have time to play I'd rather not be solo'ing a giant turkey for 30-40 minutes. The only reward I really want is that Harvester's Blade, which I've yet to obtain. :D

Fight them at Meer Village. Get a couple of hits in, and then go drag another one over. Let the meers do the bulk of the work. Just like Slasher was the easiest way to get the bloody sash off the ancient hell hounds
