Really?? Maybe because the Devs fail to listen to their customers!

I'll repeat what the customers was saying when we was told "don't like it don't play it."

THE GLASS SWORDS WERE STUPID!

I have no desire to make and build characters on a server that will close eventually. Easy to build characters or not...waste of time.

Buried in a deep deep grave beneath a heap of glass swords, the epitaph reads "If you don't like it, don't play it!"

I truly hope that the Shard of the Dead being dead is not a reflection on our interest in a classic shard.

The combination of the glass sword and it being non-permanent was a definite deterrent to many players.

I hope however they gauge it by its opening. There were a lot of people on and often before it went down hill.

I second this. I didn't touch it because it wasn't permanent. That doesn't mean that if we did get a permanent shard like this that I won't pack up and leave for it immediately.

Please participate if there is ever something like this in the future.

The original point is that it was not supposed to be permanent, yet. Like the test center shards, that shard was created to test the interest of players.

I do agree with others that the glass swords were a turn-off. I actually am suprised that this was not removed at the very beginning given that players immediately sited this as a showstopper.

Confusing to me is the fact that no attention was given to the one shard that is more close to a classic shard, Siege Perilous. I understand that the citizens there have been seeking attention for quite some time.

When Siege removes ROT, I will try playing there as well. I already trained every skill in UO, why should I do it again 10 times slower?

I have an hour a day to play uo. Why would I put it on a temp shard when I need to make money and train pets and tend to plants on my regular shard?

I logged in, created a character and that was it for shard of the dead. Otherwise until a permanent classic shard comes, I cant give a 2 month lifespan shard anytime for play.

This. An item that is a one-hit kill to players just makes it no fun. I was really hoping they would at least have made it so it only kills npc/monsters and NOT players.

.
Agreed, thing I like about test is the ability to try out certain skills or weapons to see if I want to waste my time with them back on a regular production shard, but only when I have a little extra time(which means rarely).

For those who asked for a Classic shard. That ^^^^^^ is why you won't get one!

Why would anyone be opposed to a classic shard other than just wanting attention and being arbitrarily insufferable? Oh, I think I just answered my own question.

glass swords ruined this test server

played on it a bunch of times, but one hit kills with no chance of missing is just stupid

My free time is important and I'm not about to throw it away on something that is:

(a) Not permanent

and

(b) Not classic

Why that would have any impact on a classic shard determination, I have no idea.

I never even bothered to check it out.

After reading the Devs' notes on what it was and what it contained it was obvious that it was not even remotely close to a classic shard.

I think the devs think a classic shard means a pvp only shard. I doubt the idea of a skill based world ever occurred to them.

I hope I'm wrong.

The devs dont know what a classic shard is. Somebody gave them paint chips mixed in with their potato chips and the one hit kill glass sword was born.....:loser:

The devs didn't intend it to be classic whatsoever nor did they intend it to be labeled as classic. The only reason it got called classic was because some idiotic person from some website wrote a little review on the shard and for some reason thought it was a bright idea to call it classic.

With a combination of Alacrity Scrolls (which i usually give away free when people are nice) and the fact that the ROT skill cap has been removed you can actually finish skills very quick.

Sure you still have to wait for the timer, but with alacrities it makes it a hell of alot quicker.

The person has been silent about this debacle and has not apologised, and that is because there is no reason to apoligise for posting without change exactly what someone from EA has sent them.

A few pertinent facts before I lock this.

1. the term 'classic shard' came from the source George used, which was later edited. Not EA.

Information from EA comes to us, the uo.stratics staff, via UOHerald

By the time I discovered the mistake and that the original had been edited it was already too late to edit our posting

2. Shard of the dead was originally devised by developers working in their own time as a 'gift' to the players.
