I Want My Old font Back

Back when they made changes to the font's. There was a way to get the original font back. For system messages I believe. I just got a new computer and I am really not liking the font type, partly do to age. Heh have a hard time reading it. Anyone set me straight please............pretty please

scroll down past the gap after 'inform me of skill increases' the fonts don't show till you get to the bottom of the list.

i had an issue with the fonts. i did what you said petra, about a year ago, and changed to a bigger font, just to try it out. i didn't like it, so i tried to go back to the default font and it worked, but every time i logged out/back in, it reverted to the bigger font. i tried everything. i finally had to totally uninstall UO and reinstall before the font would go back to the default. not sure if anyone else ever had that issue, but it drove me insane.

Yeah, I could never get it to work when they made the change. I've probably tried it dozens of times and I'm still stuck with the blocky, uninteresting font and it ruined all my screenshots.

yeah, the blocky looks ugly, but readability is better for a lot of folks. Personally, I prefer Consolas - they should let us pick from our our installed fonts

the OP doesn't stat which client this is about. Because if it's about the EC, I can recommend the Copper or Stone Enhanced Skins - they have the orignal UO font as an option.

Are you just Xing out? Some things don't save unless you go through the logout procedure. Maybe that's it.

I have found this to be true as well.

There are certain settings which, when you change them, seem to override the defaults. Colors are another. I found the only way to get rid of them is to manually re-set every uo.cfg file for each character in the my documents/ea games folder and the main one in the program files /electronic arts folder.
If you log in any character that has the changed setting it will overwrite the default again.

Sorry for delay in posting, work well is work. This is 2d client. Thanks for the replies. A minor set back. What a pain in the butt. It will be worth it in the end. I keep tellin myself that.

ok, say I wanted to try the EC, will I have to d/l every patch since fall 2009 (several gig+)?

Well, not exactly. The EC uses a new patching system in which you download the installer, then it installs/patches the game up to current in one patch. So instead of:

Download Patch A... Apply Patch A... Download Patch B... Apply Patch B... ... Download Patch Z... Apply Patch Z

you have...

Download client files as of current Patch... Apply files as of current Patch.

Which means the first time you install/patch it you'll have about a 2.5 gig patch/install to sit through, but then you'll be current.

Basically instead of downloading every version of every file as they are changed/patched, you download/patch the current version.
