It was my understanding, though, that scripting for traps' fishing was not possible or, at least, not easily possible thus reducing the problem.

Why do you think this way? What makes trap fishing (trap is an adjective not a noun in this case) difficult to script?

If it bobs you grab it and deploy a new one. If it gets sucked under you deploy a new one. Trivial.

Well, they can do what they want. But I don't believe that catering to the hard core is necessarily the answer.

Here are things from my point of view:

I've had my GM fisher for more then eight years.

Fishing is slow to raise and always has been. I will not be spending millions of gold for a scroll and then countless hours to get my fisher back to where she was before this change went in.

If there is enough added benefit? Well sure, but not more gold and more hours for something I finished grinding through years and years ago.

And the last point: No value to 120 equals no value to the upgrade for me.

Hate to point this out but this is the time of year when EA does their cuts. No sales, no new customers, no new revenue.. well, you figure it out.

I know a lot of you wouldn't like this or agree. Oh well.

I am playing the same UO as everyone else. So, I don't see how I could have fishing easy my way while others have it harder....

I am doing my fishmonger quests, crabs and lobster traps included, as everyone else.

It is not like I am 120 legendary fisherman already and want to have it made harder for other players...

Actually, there is several players out there who are already 110, not sure if some have gone past that also. That I am aware of, I do not think that anyone is 120 legendary yet. Probably not even there is any 115.......

So, I am quite behind many fishermen out there and I would also be at a disadvantage like everyone else.

I just see a certain amount of hypocracy in your posts. Perhaps you should seriously think before you put something to words. If you want it to be easy, well, nothing should be easy, lest the reward of accomplishment be 0. Just want to point out again a major point that is being missed in this dicussion.

Getting fishing scrolls is trival. It's one of the easiest things in the game. There is no skill and no risk involved.

If something is hard and challengeing then at least your brain is engaged with the challenge.

The fish monger quests are nothing but a time sink. There is nothing difficult about them. Champ spawns in fel are hard. Clicking a fishing pole then clicking water then dragging a fish is not hard.

There's nothing wrong with making something take a long time to get, or have a small chance of dropping, if that time engages the brain.

However long non-challenge grinds are just a broken design.

This is your plea. What the name in all that is fishy do you mean? Don't make it too easy. Keep them hard, not impossible but quite hard.

Lets say 1-100 is too easy
1-1000 is mostly easy
1-2500 is medium
1-5000 is hard.

No matter No matter No matter what you make it. In time everyone will have one.

So lets give you one and stop giving them out for 6 months and then turn them back on. Will that work?

Why give out 110 and above at all.. why not just allow fishers to fish up 105's and bind those to gain the higher levels. There your looking at a minimal amount of fishers able to put the time in to acheive this.. unless in fishing groups or later trades.

Keep 110 pluses.. rare.

And as for all the others acquiring them in champ spawns.. make 105 power scrolls the norm and no higher.

Those Binding books need to be used not shelved.. haha..

Reboot every damn shard.

Reset all characters to noob status.

Leave homes up and gear intact.

Just wipe every character back to the starting 50/50/0 screen.

By the way, 5 shards - 4 x GM Fisherman -old school gained. Nothing, and mean nothing ANYWHERE on-line can ever compare to the pain of old school gump fishing (8 x * and pray) methodology.
