See... I did it... but since i had no desire to do it on two characters I fought on the "Good" side, aiding the Ophidians. I eventually gave up because I was the only one there 90% of the time so I couldn't push the spawn, and if anyone showed the were pro bane for the dragon strew.I didnt do the initial bane / ophidian war stuff becuase the mindless grind didnt seem worth it. So now, i dont even want to think about how long it would take me to grind out the 10k rep needed. Looks like i cant do this quest *frowns* It will be alot easier just to farm essences and use that gold to buy any of the items you get from the new quests.
If im wrong, if theres anything special about this (like the dreadmares from the one invasion for example) Please let me know!
You have my total support behind you, and I hope it is well worth the grind. However, when a game becomes a simple grind, I look for other alternatives for my time and money. The war was fun. Why was there a 2500 cap to start with?im giving it my best shot, im at 4900 LP right now and yes it is a grind, but i believe i can be at the 7500 LP mark by friday.I will let you all know what the quest will give me.
I mean I know its doable... but even with the ophids it would be a laborious process. I got tired of it after half an hour.im giving it my best shot, im at 4900 LP right now and yes it is a grind, but i believe i can be at the 7500 LP mark by friday.I will let you all know what the quest will give me.
Cal has mentioned that the book will have a further purpose but until its clear what it is why bother? The reward for the quest is a 'Corrupted Book of Truth' with the char's name on it.
Yay.
Definately not worth the time it takes to get 7500 loyalty points.
It will most likely lead to another Completely Useless Item which requires Way more time invested for the "Payout"Cal has mentioned that the book will have a further purpose but until its clear what it is why bother?
I fully agree. To award 3 points for any Meer killed is not comensurate with the effort. The Meer captain's should yield at least 6 points and the Eternals 10 or more (if 3 points for a warrior is the base which is pretty little anyway). And the paragons well.... Try to fight a Meer Eternal Paragon: 30 points?I was here during Bane/Ophid war and used chars on both sides. Unfortunately, at that time, the loyalty was capped at 2500. I've taken my Bane allied character to fight Meer and at 3 pts loyalty per meer, I just cannot justify the time commitment. If the war scaling of points cannot be turned on then at least increase the points based on difficulty. You get the same 3 points whether you fight a meer mage or a para meer immortal. I really thought I would try to get the 7,500 points to see what the quest is, but I don't think it will happen without some change.
Hmm, I have collected a "personalised" book of Truth. It is the same graphic as the old quest item (Book of Truth?) but the question mark in the item's tag is missing. On the one hand, from the point of view of Ultima lore, you shouldn't be fighting for the Bane; tis a sad day when the virtues are being abandoned, just in the hopes of gaining a new piece of material wealth...
But from a gameplay perspective, you should at least be able to make that choice, if you want too. I don't want to see Magincia doomed by players greed, but it's not up to me to tell people they must play virtuously; but right now no one can even express their preferences in game because the quest targets are so ridiculous. The UOHerald post indicated that the Bane loyal quest was in Trammel Magincia, but the NPC at Britain moongate also seems to indicate you get a personalized Book of Truth... which isn't very humble is it? And worse, the Devs seem to have completely over estimated the availability of Virtue Armor; I purchased every piece I could find in Luna the day before the patch... which amounted to just 2 each of 3 of the pieces. The other 3 were not and have not since become available on the market. Even the rares collectors I know don't have many pieces of the set. And the sollets have always been desirable in of themselves... ok, we need to sacrifice, which may mean giving up what we would value.... But how do you even get them in the first place? I spent about 6 hours over last week doing nothing but dungeon crawling to try and get drops for myself; I got just 1, the Jaana staff.
But OK, you want to side with the Bane from there, if you somehow manage to get that far. I have a Bane loyal character, but considering how badly the quest was bungled last time around, with there being no point to further loyalty, and the quest not requiring you to fight Meer at all (Blackthorn minions have the crystals too), you have now an insane uphill struggle to get the reputation for them. I wouldn't have done it anyway, because the character concerned is only a naughty chancer, rather than outright Bane-ish. But still, being forced by circumstances to be that feels incredibly disappointing. I can't currently be either virtuous or evil.
A shame.
Cal did Not make it easy to do this either, there's no 'easy mode' that's turned on. 1.5hr emptying 3 dungeons today(exc. collector of souls, and henchmen), got 1 item, a Boring grind, espec in Hythloth, where it's just an endless spam of poison spellsOn top of that i need to farm up a suit of the valor armor besides, so It's pretty unrealistic
Getting something besides stale, year old candy, is like using luck, broken & worthless.the story is effectively over as far as I'm concerned
Wait. Things get mixed-up here. The reward for handing the virtue armor part in is the "book of truth" (without the question markThe reward is ..... a book?
Hmm.
Puts Ophid quest on the to-do-list.. behind root canal and proctological exam.
The "reward" for that quest requires you to have done the book of truth quest, and is a corrupted book of truth with your name on it.Wait. Things get mixed-up here. The reward for handing the virtue armor part in is the "book of truth" (without the question mark). The quest reward from the Bane Chosen in Magincia is not yet known as far as I know, because it is so difficult to achieve the required loyalty.
The booster has nothing to do with it. I love it, because of the peerless. Corgul and my Dexxer have become close friends!
ya the bane side of the quest has you giving them that book of truth, and they giving it back to you with your name on it basicly...like they would say in * that tv show*...reward worth playing for?Wait. Which is where things get confusing; from what I'd read in the CLILOC the first part of the quest is supposed to be the Virtuous part (hence sacrificing the items you gain from fighting the anti-virtuous)... but the quest at Britain Moongate describes it as "a rare, personal copy of the Book of Truth". The personalization would though remove it from the realm of Humility. And that's done apparently before you get to corrupt it and join the Bane, so depending on what is intended, the virtuous don't actually have anything to do again so far. I've not done the quest yet myself to see if it's named at this point, because I can't get the remaining virtue items as yet... And I don't intend to do the second part on my bane-sympathetic character because in game he's an Arthur Daley type rather than true evil, and out of game because enough of you greedy gits will go for the rewards Magincia needs all the help it can get.ya the bane side of the quest has you giving them that book of truth, and they giving it back to you with your name on it basicly...like they would say in * that tv show*...reward worth playing for?
Well, I play Ultima Online for the Ultima, so if I was certain it would save Magincia, I'd Sacrifice all the suits I had... except I don't have another piece even after 3 hours in Despise. I could go and kill Bane again but someone has had the wonderful idea of remaining hidden on Europa amongst them, and when someone tries to fight there, triggering an Ancient Hell Hound on that player. *sighs again*remember too, that 'crappy' suit you're trading for a book has all mid-80's stats, Plus blessed
i finished the brit gate part of the quest, (had a few spare suits put away from random drops here and there), turnd it in and received only a big blue book (like the old one with the ? at the end of it)..this one just says book of truth, no name on it, no way to alter it..nothing, then i heard from someone else that in order to get it personalized! you had to do the bane side..i decided to check it out! but starting from the beginning of the loyalty chain is makin it pretty difficult lol..ive been doing nothing but killing meers..ignoring the halloween stuff..and so far been able to get....700 points out of 7500 needed lmfao, if i continue and eventually reach the loyalty needed and they turn it off?..someones gettin beat lolWhich is where things get confusing; from what I'd read in the CLILOC the first part of the quest is supposed to be the Virtuous part (hence sacrificing the items you gain from fighting the anti-virtuous)... but the quest at Britain Moongate describes it as "a rare, personal copy of the Book of Truth". Before the patch, I had great hopes of this stage, because it looked like you just got a Book Of Truth in the first part, so the balance would come down to Pure and Uncorrupted. But now, it's just entirely frustrating because it's an incredible grind to take part in either element. And even if the Ophidians were turned back on for Bane reputation, deep down I don't want to see any of you doing it in game... from a game mechanics, and wider player enjoyment side I know it must, but an event where those who side with Good, or the wider Britannic History (Britannia isn't the same without a Magincia! An entire city of the Virtues missing?!) don't know what to do, and might not even be able to realistically "win"... *sighs again* No, no, no..
Thank you for that information; so we know at least it's not personalized at that stage. I stand by my previous thinking then, that this first quest at least appears to be intended to be the "Virtuous" part... but with such a huge disincentive to do either part, I really hope the final fate of Magincia doesn't swing on the tiny amount of people who can complete it with current drop rates... or stay stalled for more months ahead to give people time to do it.i finished the brit gate part of the quest, (had a few spare suits put away from random drops here and there), turnd it in and received only a big blue book (like the old one with the ? at the end of it)..this one just says book of truth, no name on it, no way to alter it..nothing, then i heard from someone else that in order to get it personalized! you had to do the bane side..i decided to check it out! but starting from the beginning of the loyalty chain is makin it pretty difficult lol..ive been doing nothing but killing meers..ignoring the halloween stuff..and so far been able to get....700 points out of 7500 needed lmfao, if i continue and eventually reach the loyalty needed and they turn it off?..someones gettin beat lol
I am currently at 5000 points towards the 7500. All I have to say is if they end up making this 'easier' for others later, like they did with the crystal turn-ins having a different point value AFTER the event was off, I am going to be pissed, Pissed, PISSED.Cal has mentioned that the book will have a further purpose but until its clear what it is why bother?
I'd say steel yourself mentally for exactly that. Since the moment this came out, a good number of people have been questioning the amount of loyalty needed, the means to do it being uninteresting both in fictional lore and game mechanics, and the reward for doing so being questionable. If you have gone ahead with the grind as it is now, you've done so while ignoring all the warning signs. Sorry. But be sure to give us the skinny when you finally complete the grind.I am currently at 5000 points towards the 7500. Heh, and I think every one else will be pissed if they dont.I am currently at 5000 points towards the 7500. Tumbs up for that!!!honestly if they just turned the ophidian point gains back on! i would be happy lol...really dont care about the 3 points per..
