UPDATE

Okay the person in question returned all the pumpkins and I thank him for it.
No, he didn't throw them in the trash. I saw him take the pumpkins yes, but I reach that conculsion after trying to talk to him and he came back with the pumpkin theif anwser.

It was a huge misunderstand and I am profoundly sorry.

99% of the Legends population are what I call "Weekend Warriors. There were many players that were upset because they wanted their Jack O' Lantern.

I did not smear him in global chat, me and three other players were talking. One of them said it. No matter I will take the blame for it if it makes everyone feel better.

I did say it on here, and I'm sorry for that too. I have deleted the original post.

Again it was a huge misunderstand and I am incredibly sorry.

What you could do is have someone setup a house with mail boxes, people could drop all the pumpkins they find in those. Then have 10-20 people who are honest and well known on the shard put the pumpkins in locked down containers, people browse, if they see their pumpkin call in general chat and someone with access to the house can give them it.

Thats all I can suggest, And atleast that is something you can do right now, Rather than wait for Dev help.

Actually that's pretty close to what we've come up with I have volunteered the use of my Luna vendor house. We are filling it up now hehehe

I gues now its not a vendor house, its a Jack O Lantern patch!!

The devs shouldn't 'help you'. Not that I encourage people to toss these in the trash, but they were willingly laid out in a public place. So yes... this kind of thing happens.

From my time dealing with the general public,one thing I have learned is that if someone can do something and get away with it,they will. It's human nature,and some are just born self-centered idiots. Unfortunatly one of these idiots crossed your path. The solution? Do as the other posters have said and create secured crates in a vendor house to keep this idiot from being well.... an idiot.

You make a great point for the difference between being LAWFUL and being MORAL. They are completely separate.

Ok, you blew all your cred right there. See that's an unlawful act. It is against the law to steal someone's car regardless of the keys being in the ignition or not.

To do something which violates the TOS would be similar to breaking the law. The legal action would be a GM's determination.

Tossing pumpkins is more of a MORAL issue. It's not a nice thing to do, but it harms no one, and definitely not against the rules.

I agree, the guy was being a jerk, but don't try to say he's breaking some kind of rule by doing this. Some people play jerks in UO and some jerks play UO. This guy is probably a combination of both.

I wasn't saying he was breaking the rules or any such thing. I was just give examples. That one came to mind because I had recently seen the TruTV show Bait Car.

The show is the cops put out a car that is rigged with cameras and a remote kill switch that is run by a cop with a laptop computer near by. Anyway I was thinking of some of the "Dumb" perps that try steal the bait car.
These are the ones that when asked "Why did you steal it" they anwser "Because the keys were in it."

Honestly I wasn't think about Lawful or unlawful. You read more into it than was there.

FYI: Mr. KnowItAll I was using global as part of the Jack O' Lantern exchange I generally as a rule avoid it.

Don't you think you could put you energies to a better use than trolling a internet MMO Forum. I mean I would think that a intelligent, and articulate guy as yourself would rather do something constructive to help people.

the chessy community has been awesome for this event. jol's are lined up by the stable and there hasn't been much in the way of shennanigans. many people are calling out names in g chat as well.

i even saw reds/blues workng the fields in brit fwiw.

Well first off there is no comma needed between 'dumb' and 'blonde'. And secondly, did I ever even state I was a guy? I don't recall so.

If you read my post history, I'm far from trolling the boards. I'm calling you out based on your post history: you rant, cyber scream and constantly carry on in the majority of your posts. You threaten to quit the game publicly when you dislike someone or something. Many of my posts are quite positive and encouraging to the game and its players as a whole. My responses to you are often the opposite, but then again... look at your posting history. It pretty much speaks for itself.

As far as 'doing something constructive'... well, I suspect you don't know me on that either. And that is quite OK with me. I do not use my character's name on these boards, as I prefer my UO my UO and my Stratics my Stratics, but rest assured anyone who does know who I play will agree I'm probably one of the most proactive 'community' players on my shard... which, thankfully, isn't on Legends with you.

to the guy who was making the pumpkin maze: i didn't have a hand in the name-calling--but i did stand by and say nothing--for which i apologize. your heart was in the right place, but we just are so used to seeing the bad in people that sometimes we forget that there are still good people out there too.

i love how legends has been banding together, collecting and distributing pumpkins, and calling out names over chat, just to ensure that everyone gets their jack-o-lanterns. sometimes when the real world looks its worst, it's just refreshing to come online and know that people are largely pretty decent.
