The latest patch seems to have broke this. When I try to enhance clubs, crooks etc the error message says can't not use this material on it. Anyone else have this issue?

Are you trying to enhance an artifact, like the cavorting club? You can't enhance those. Other than that, I just tried to enhance a club with frostwood and it let me.

Yes, not a cavorting club. just a plain club with the following stats
Lizardman slayer
Hit Fireball 18%
Hit Lower Attack 36%
Hit Chance Increase 10%
Damage Increase 34%
Durability 114/114
Just trying to enhance it to unravel for a relic fragment

I forget what it adds, but does it add another property other than those already on it? If so, might be too many.

Frostwood adds 12 DI and 40% cold damage. Good guess I think, but you can go over the number of properties with enhancing.
Is it a new club? If you found it in your home I'd guess it may already be enhanced with Yew? (5% HCI and 10% DI might be in the values on it?) Some items do show the wood type and others don't... Just guessing...

Ya brand new from miasma corpse, I'm just as puzzled why and I got a crook that won't enhance as well. I've been doing this for the last while and just all of a sudden start having problems
maybe your carpentry skill is bugged? try soulstoneing it and pulling it back off. I know a few other people said they had this issue with a few other skills like tactics occasionally (having 120 tactics but still getting the error message that they don't have the 90 skill required for secondary ability)
maybe test to see if you can craft a simple item with carpentry using frostwood?

Sometimes if the club is turned to the right you can't enhance them. Or maybe it's the opposite, but I'm relatively sure it's the way the club's turned that makes it enhanceable or not if it's just your standard unenhanced item.
Puni666 is right, it's down to the way it's facing.
Clubs with the same orientation as crafted ones will enhance, those going the opposite way won't. Some leather items have (or had?) the same problem when trying to 'salvage' them.
