So, ive been on the fence about whether or not this booster is fun. I mean, i love playing UO, but i really dont look forward lately to logging in to do quest grinds. Im not saying they should make the time required to get a fishing scroll lessened....but the sailing from one port to another in order to drop off my quest is a bit too much (at least for me)

i havent even tried the priate content yet because ive just gotta get motivated to make all of the stuff to get my cannons, etc.

The new ship movement....great! Course i couldnt imagine doing the fishing quests with the old movements....there would probably be a revolt by players if the movement was like before.

I just get tired of quest grinds....skill training can be enough of a grind by itself..

But...the great thing about UO is that there is plenty of other things to do....and I look forward to halloween stuff!

is it fun for you guys??

Gotta be honest, even with the buggy bits, I'm having a blast. We've been hunting pirates, doing fishing quests (the co-op has speeded that up so much, thanks guys :) ) and generally having fun.

It was for a while, but the quests got super irritating quickly. I haven't done the bosses cause I don't have anyone to do them with, so thats like half of the content I haven't had a chance to do.

Honestly, all things balanced out...no. Right now everything is a grind.

Fishing quest, over 70 quests now and no sign of a +5 ps. Some people got a +5 on their 10th quest. Some people have enough to bind them into a 110 now. It's called RNG. But it's unfair and it's turning people off. It's an exercise in time wasted sailing from port to port. Overall grade D

Fish species (for quest) numbers.. 56! Including a crab&lobster that have no uses. Dividing their locations between Inshore, Dungeons and Deep water was a good idea. Throwing 56 at us was not. Also add in 16 new "legendary/enchanted fish" for cooks to make fish pies which add buffs to your character for 5 minutes. Again good ideas, but execution is overwhelming. Overall grade C

Catching lobsters and crabs is a constant mouse clicking exercise, with unacceptably high losses of lobster traps. There should have been some fine print on the booster pack *caution, this booster has been know to cause carpel tunnel and worn out mice* Overall grade D

Pirate quests.. first spend hours collecting the salt peter.. yes even with new alchemists at the fish monger pier locations, it can be hours to collect enough. Then get on your alchemist and have them grind out some blackpowder, potash, fuse chords and match cords.. get on your cook to make the charcoal, your tailor to get the charges you need, and throw your tinker in for some ramrods and matches. Don't forget your blacksmith for making the actual canons (1800 ingots per heavy canon), canon balls and grapeshots. Make sure you have a beetle/packie to haul about 1500 boards and 1000 cloth to your boat. Sail it to the docks, and get a crew together. 5 minutes later you are in pirate infested waters, using the tracking feature which might get you to a pirate boat in under 10 minutes. Kill the crew/scuttle the boat in less than 5 minutes (If you've not encountered a bugged pirate ship that won't take any damage). Another 5 minuets of down time while the captain sails the boat back to the floating docks, where you get your reward.. 1 of 8 deeds to an orc ship *duplicates guaranteed* or a single shot of a flame/cold damaging canon ball. Overall grade C {drops to D when I get all 8 pieces of deed for the orc ship}

Corgul.. best of the Booster. Easy enough to summon, fast enough to get to, hard enough to need a group, but it doesn't slaughter everyone all the time. Some buggy issues with timers. Decent drop rates on new arties. Overall grade B+

Scalis.. unknown. No guarantee that when you throw your few and far between white nets that he will pop. We've wasted 5 so far with no sign of him. If we are ever able to summon hit for the fight, will update. Overall grade F

Ship to ship PVP.. unknown. Haven't been involved in any yet, haven't heard of anyone on the shard either. Right now it's bugged and you can scuttle anyone's ship in Tram, making FEL rather redundant at the moment. Overall grade N/A

** Bestest part of Booster... +20% Storage increase! Overall grade A

Not a bit. I haven't purchased it for any of my accounts. The bug list is still way too long and I read too many stories here daily of frustrated players. I read the excited posts as well and I know I would enjoy some of the content, but I refuse to pay for beta material and that's giving them the benefit of the doubt.

in theory, it is a great booster.

in reality, handling cannons and crafting the ammo is a nightmare and a nuisance, lobster fishing is absolutely tedious, and the fishing rewards either do not work or require an insane amount of effort.

many players i know have given up on this game content altogether, and no news from the devs whether this will be fixed or this works as designed.

corgul quest is fun though. scalis... never saw him.

Yes, I'm enjoying it. But I'm not playing it to the exclusion of all else and I'm not hell bent on getting scrolls before the end of the first week. I do a little fishing when I'm in the mood, and something else when I'm not. If it takes me 12 months to get scrolls, I'm not worried. As far as I know I'm not in a race.

So far, some really good content and the 20% storage bonus is great.

The one thing that really really needs help is the time it takes to make cannon ammo. I don't mind the individual parts that go together, but I really don't like the time it takes for the alchemy grinding of individual pieces, even with the EC make max. I spent two hours making items last night just to go pirate hunting later today with guild mates. If a hundred black powder (and everything like it) could be made all at once the time would be cut down by 2/3. THIS is my biggest disappointment in the booster.

Fishing has always been my main business, well actually plundering boats and buring of short term counts while fishing. When shot terms got rendered useless it was mainly plundering ;).

I loved to fish for mibs while reading boards or watching a movie. I'd kill anyone passing by. Simple system .. until that booster came. Now the fish is so heavy that i always have to have a lousy (ugly) beetle at my side to bring the fish home every couple minutes. Lobster fishing is even more annoying, staring at a dead screen waiting for a trap to bobble and click it as fast as i can...

Sailing from port to port stinks ... takes way to much time to get a single quest done.

Binding boats to accounts stinks even more! I have over 500 boats from plundering. What to do now, when i can place only 1? You can't even take the boats away from others anymore. I want the real pirating back. :sad3:

Don't get me wrong tho. I don't regret having paid for the booster. I just think the implementation wasn't the best. Even the player base could help to make the whole booster less annoying.

MYFB! (move your f... boats)
Yes, it would be so much better if not every damn port was blocked with boats.

I did not upgrade and from what I am reading on the expense of getting items just for one battle and repairs, I won't be getting it any time soon neither.

I am a casual player and I can sure as heck spend the few hours I can play per month on other tasks/objectives that will be more fulfilling to me.

Paradoxically perhaps, since I've not tried the NPC pirates or new 'champion monsters', or really got anywhere on the fishing quests, I'm quite enjoying it simple because of the novelty of stuff.....

Yes, there are too many bugs, and yes some of the crafting is mind-numbingly fiddly, but there's been enough new for me to look at, learn and experiment with that it's kept me entertained fairly well.

I'll Say it loudly IT ROCKS it has brought out another large scale add on to this game..One thing i have loved about this game in the 11 years maybe 12 now is the fact that i am never bored. my wife and i can do most things in game, and now With expansion were really never bored. not saying we was ever bored before the expansion, we love to do Doom ,Champ spawns, dungeons, tame, work our mules for armor and weapons ie imbueing, and now we can fish for new pies, added 2 new boss's ,and attack merchant ships and or capture pirates now. our Guild is small but very crafty group, we can figure out most ways to drop foes only due to our wide range of characters and skills for doing most things easily. its not like days of old when you saw a grandmaster mage you knew it took him months to gain that title and months of collecting reagents .. nowadays due to the whinning and complaining uo has made it easy to 120 most skills in less then a week using ggs to add other skills to your toons and having soulstone fragments/soustones, being able to keep those skills in the bank till needed and used when the need arises. As with everything new everyone wants the new ship ..give it a month and those who dont fish anyway will lose thier intrest and those ships will go away. Soon then the pvpers will go back to pvping only cause its way more fun to do battle 1on 1 or ganking as they do as needed against a real player instead of a npc, and then those who are the ones that complain the most , that cray i cant do this in a day types that will fall again by the wayside or actually impement change to the devs and make it a 3 day 120 skill gain like anything else in the game, but at this time i dont see it, i have done 67 quest before i got my 1st 105 scroll, i like it that way...I felt like i earned it. lobstering and crabbing rules once ya figure it out and i love traveling port to port fishing and filling my crates along the way. and i work 10 to 12 hours 6 to 7 days a week.. uo has and allways will be one of the Cheapest forms of entertainment i have ever had or will have next to riding my Chopper or my Softail.so to those that complain about the measley 15$ to add it .. guess you to young to have a job or maybe ya dont drink but in florida thats the cost of 3 beers going out vs. lifetime in uo of fun.. not hard to figure out..price of game a month, same equasion..anyhoo sever up im off to fish and plunder some pirates UO RULES

Pacific Cruiser, you are the man.. I have been playing this game for 9yrs now and with every major patch, add-on, or from now on Booster-Pack I'm going to love it even more.. I bought the Pack and a new boat but haven't had the time to fish or any of that other stuff. I love crafting. Crafting is my life in UO. And now with this new Pack I am like a kid in the candy store!!!!!! CRAFT CRAFT CRAFT.... I drive a truck all over this wonderful land, get to see things that most people will never see. Unless they see it in a book. AND I LOVE IT!! ( I hate driving in the snow and wind!!) But the one thing that keeps me going is knowing that when I stop today or tonight I will be back online making things in UO... I know that sounds *lame* BUT that's the way it is.. Its the cheapest form of entertainment left out there.. So thanks again Pacific Cruiser for that great post you posted your right on the mark.. so as long as the servers are up and running I'M PLAYING!!!! :lick:

Wow, you really have a positive charisma. ;)
Are you not having a little fun with the booster? I do, despite the little flaws.
That's why i added this line: "Don't get me wrong tho. I don't regret having paid for the booster."

I have a little fun, despite the fact that it destroyed my original style of pirating. :D I was just trying to give an honest answer and now iam waiting for the flaws to get fixed (while fishing and sailing to get a 120 scroll).

i think the whole thing is a grind.

its a grind to make the necessary things to fire a cannon.

its a grind to load and fire the cannon

its a grind to fix the damaged ship

its a 3 week cruise to go find, kill the pirate and sail back for a lousy cannonball and small gold

corgul is o.k. and tough enough.

scalis is hit and miss on the nets. im in agreement that he should spawn every time, even if it takes making a new net thats just for him.

i'm totally in disbelief that no fel based water champ spawn was made that required the use of new boats to complete and would have opened up a glorious opportunity for group pvp.

in my guild people are doing the pirate thing in order to get the pieces necessary for the orc ship. Once these ships are obtained they will loose interest in continuing to do it.

Also if you camp the sea market you can kill the pirate that another guild is bringing in for the bounty, which has the potential to be a huge grief feast.

Overall I rate this a colassal failure, unless your the type of person that has a good 5 hours plus a day to dedicate yourself to UO, which i do not.

I don't agree with the part that I bolded in your message.

It takes less than 30 seconds to clean, charge, load, prime and fire a cannon. Hotbar or macro to make it easier.

If you plan ahead of time, repairing the damaged ship is just a few minutes to bring enough repair items on a beetle and click repairs. Still, to me it would make more sense to dump the items in the cargo hold and make repairs from there.

Now, the 3 week cruise sure could use some improvements to make it easier to locate pirates. The pirate quest just seems broken, not being able to find a named pirate and the specified location.

And the ammo grind is way too much fiddling... not to mention the time that it takes to gather enough resources. However, the two pirate ships that we scuttled yesterday had more cannon ammo than we used... if this is normal, then it isn't so bad once you have enough to get started.

Also, do you guys realize how "positive" comments like "I will mindlessly buy any UO product" and "it only takes 30 seconds of clicking to fire a shot" sound to people?
