What´s the trick with Corgul?

So. We gathered a group of adventurers on Drachs tonight for Corgul.
When we were there my damage output was as following:

E-Bolt : 12
Flamestrike: 13
Fireball: 3

I am a maxed out Inscri mage with lots of +SDI. Used a Repond Slayer!
(tested all other slayers as well - Damage then is 1-2)

What the hell...

Finally we gave up.

Any ideas?

Kill his spawn first, then use your Repond slayer. A Disco Tamer would help.

Also something i've not seen anyone mention.... leech effects heal him instead of damage him.

We just started on Corgal, went first time last night, with about 8 people, killed spawn then corgal. Second time we went with 6 people and did not have much problem. So today we tried with our main group of three people and were still successful. We had one player that died a couple of times, but today was her first time there, so was all new to her. We are simply killing off the spawn, then going for Corgal. It seems easiest when you keep Corgal in the center of the island so he is not always running off. We use repond slayers, disco him, but do not use any of the bard masteries. Be sure to keep curses removed.

The other thing I could tell you, is treat it like a champ spawn. If you have certain charectors or certain styles that work well for champ spawns, that may come in handy for Corgal too. The difference is you don't have to wait to spawn him. Corgal actually seems easier then some of the champ spawns, and I didn't think it took as long either. I could be off on the amount of time due to the thrill of doing something different. I've seen where others have written that you don't need to kill off the spawn, but we have not tried that approach yet. I've also heard mention that samps and or life leech is not working too well there. Haven't tried either, so can not verify.

Life leech in any form damages you. This includes weapon and vampyric embrace.

The problem with corpse skin is that it makes Corgul all-but-immune to physical damage.

Our working-tactic was to use a rune beetle for tanking, a necro-mage for debuffing and two mages for fireballs. It was slow, but it worked.

One thing I'd like to try is taking a bard for discord, but since I have no bard, I have to wait for the right time.

The problem is that Corgul has ALL resists at 85 or more, making damage without debuffing difficult, so the corpse skin is pretty much required, and the rune beetle helps a ton.

On a curious side note, I had less trouble keeping a rune beetle alive than the greater dragon I took the first time I tried.

It helps me that my tamer has 45% DCI and a mage weapon as well, so I could stay in and heal my beetle without having to run away.

Aye, that was me on the disco tamer. If i remember correctly we had only 1 dead mysticer a couple seconds before corgul died. The rest was pretty easy going. Great teamplay for a random group on sunday morning. We had no meelees so can't confirm/deny the leech feature.

When discored the weakest resists were 67 (iirc) on poison and 69 on enery.

A couple of questions.....

I see people suggesting a discord bard.

Does discording grant looting right to the Bard or would the Bard then have to rely on the party willingness to share whatever loot will come ?

Also, I see a reference to using tameables.

But I seem to recall reading the Corgul leeches health.
So, wouldn't using a pet back fire when Corgul would just leech health from pets back onto it ?

to add to sasha seeks post to help you popp's she is my wife and is a disco/archer so she does damage to corgil... not sure for a pure bard i know in past in taking my pure bard to and champ spawn i never got a drop so stopped taking him and moved skills to make a disco tamer...my main is a Archer and never tried in party due to have to be top 5 damager's to get the drop and with corgil it has been 3 drops per spawn so far 2 books and a sash

Im sure there must be a highly sought after item that the only way to get it is via corgul because it will be worth 30 -50 million.

But all the other stuff is laying around for 2 million or less.

No way!!! ROFL, we'd be more than happy to sell you the books or sashes at a slight discount even!!! Mine just get shoved in a chest at the house and forgotten about.

Whats in Corgul thats hot?

Sadly the cool fights often boil down to "what got dropped in my pack".

Not everyone wants stuff but most do.

For me now it seems gold is mighter then wasting an hour. So sad. Perhaps may does are numbered.

Oops, sorry Ravin, I misread your post, I thought you meant the books and sash were going for the crazy prices! As far as them flooding the market already, I don't have a clue, I haven't bothered to check. We simply enjoy having a new challenge to figure out.

Two things i did notice.
First , i had some easy and clean runs with 2 - 6 people when all of the spawn on the island had been killed. Yes right, 2 people,a throwing wammy and a mystic, no disco, no corpse skin , random group.

Second, some of the worst ,chaotic and longest runs were with large groups that didnt kill all of the spawn first. Under the exact same conditions as before i did only 2/3 or less of my usual armor ignore damage per hit. Could only think wtf is this. He also seems to respawn more of his buddies when more players are attacking him.

So either there is some bug with repond not workin at all times or he receives some damage reduction if spawn is alive. Hard to tell.
Can also confirm that life leech from weapon, vampiric embrace or curse weapon damages yourself. So if you want to melee him ,go with bandage healing,pots ,a feint weapon and wraith form for more mana leech. You still have to deal with very frequent bleed attacks.

As for arties, yes he can drop some stuff that is worth alot.But didnt get anything yet.

It's not really all that curious (and you call yourself a tamer?)

The Rune Beetle(75-95) has a much higher resist to poison than a greater dragon(55-60).

Hps are nice, but I'll take resist over hps anyday.

Another Think for worriors white out the chivalry spell cs if corpse skin active and make him nearly physical damage immun you can youse quiver of blight.

I think it not only worked on archery and worked on sword, mace and fencing too.
