I think this Booster was well designed and well thought.
It was intended, as my perception is, as a TEAM WORK activity.
Noted.
You've preached that point a million times now.
We got your "perception".
TEAM.
Ok.
Give it a rest.

I do not understand why in Ultima Online everything often is wanted to be done by players on their own.... Why play a Multiplayer game then ??
I can help you there.
1. I may want to do certain things on my own for ACCOMPLISHMENT. Shouldnt be that hard of a concept to understand.

2. There are plenty of times on a less populated shard that Im ALONE. This means I should just log out cause I dont have a TEAM?

3. Why play? Cause I choose to. I can do that ya know. Its what I pay for, the choice to log in or not, which, btw, on more occasions than not, has JACK to do with whether or not theres a TEAM to play with.

Let's have at least a few areas of the game, like Ship Battles, where TEAMS of players are required.......
No lets DONT.
REQUIRED is NOT the way to promote TEAM play.
Easier to finish, yes.
More productive (less resources), yes.
More chance for the high fallutin loot, absotivly!
Required.....Pfftt!! (not my choice of words, but cant use them here!)
Besides, I think we all can mutually agree that the BOSS's are all mostly designated as a TEAM event, even tho some are solo-able. with the right build.

So, I get your point.
Question is, do you get mine/ours?

Well, I keep reading in some posts about a "rewards" issue.

Thing is, I see no issue with rewards in this Booster......

This Booster is designed differently than in the past, it is NOT about instant gratification but more on like "building up" credit and claiming it only later on, quite later on, when "enough" credit has built up.

I do not like instant gratification, it is diseducative, IMHO and gets players to always want more, more and want it yesterday, already.

This Booster has been well thought out and well designed, IMHO, with a tiered Quests system were one has to build up Quests credit to be offered higher Quests with better rewards and also in regards to Ship Battles, the Bounty Quests to track down and arrest Pirates, eventually lead to a VERY valuable reward, the Orc Galleon (not to mention the Orc ship parts also highly wanted and valuable..) which is highly desired by players because of its 150% Cannon damage bonus (I reckon that one recently sold for 100 millions UO gold).

So, there is no issue about rewards, only it is that there is no instant gratification. valuable Powerscrolls do come, eventually, valuable Orc Galleon and parts do also come, only they come later on, after the players have built up enough Quests and credit.

This Booster was not about instant gratification and I applaude this Design choice.

And there is no issue either with the crafting complaints, IMHO.

The crafting is well thought and well designed and it brings business back to crafters.

I can understand that some players may not like crafting then, leave crafting to crafters !!!

It is about time that in the game there was something which players incline to crafting enjoy doing and players incline to fighting find obnoxious to do on their own.

If it was too easy and troubleless most players would just do the crafting on their own and players who enjoy crafting would remain jobless.

This way, instead, players who enjoy the crafting and its complexity WILL be able to support with their profession those players who hate the crafting steps.

As several noted, designed this way, IT DOES BRING CRAFTING BACK INTO THE GAME, AS A PROFESSION !!

This Booster has been well thought out and well designed and I applaude the Developers and sincerely hope that they resist all nay sayers.

As someone else said on another forum where this is getting laughed at, NOBODY WILL BE DOING THIS CONTENT IN TWO MONTHS IF YOU CAN'T MAKE ANY MONEY AT IT.

Recently an Orc Galleon sold for 100 millions and Orc ship parts also are considered as very valuable.

Not to mention, fishing powerscrolls. I heard of a 120 fishing pscroll going like 50 millions.....

There does is gold at the end of the tunnel only that the tunnel ain't short as it used to be, this time is a tad longer.......

This Booster is not built around instant gratification and I applaude that choice.

This Booster from fishing quests to ship battles with Pirates for Bounties rely on a longer path to build up anough credit or deeds for the orc ship to be made.

But in the end, once that reward come, it is quite a reward.......

Unfortunately, for too long players have been used to think short term, here is my kill, here is my juicy reward.

Well, that is no longer, at least as in regards to this Booster, and I like it.

Now it is necessary to work longer and harder, to eventually get to the goodies.

Others may not like it and prefer instant gratification but I don't, I much prefer it the way this Booster was designed.

Well, in 8 years of playing my savings are 8 million. According to your plan, only 97 years to go until I can buy an Orc Galleon. :)

What I find interesting is that you've been constantly asking for changes to make the game a lot easier (especially concerning rewards) during the past months. What made you you turn around by 180° and change your mind?

i don't know about you guys but i play in felucca sailing around finding unattened ships or attended ones to actually attack and take their hull. there is almost no escaping and people are forced to fight. the PvP is out there and actually fun and new.

however, if you're looking for rewards, go for the bounty quests to get the orc ship. people are paying 50-90m for one on atlantic.

Anna, being on the losing end of a pvp battle can be unpleasant after you lose your hull and the opposing team keeps you trapped so you can't rez and come back. However, when you are on the winning team, it is quite exciting.

YARRR!!!!

More haughty elitist responses from the blinkered who are having their fun, whilst many others aren't.
Finding something fun in a game, that others don't find fun, makes someone a haughty elitist? lmao

When they're :cheerleader: cretins, who fail to realise that the more they :cheerleader: , then criticise others for not liking what they like, showing they've actually no real interest in community... just "me...me...me". Sod everyone else. Then they suddenly wonder...

Oh... why aren't there many people playing UO any more?

...then yes.

These are just the sort of people who drive people away from UO. The game population shrinks again, because there's some people, who aren't willing to lap up the crap and :cheerleader: or be belittled by the :cheerleader: any more, for actually having an opinion and caring about the future of UO.

BTW, I wasn't saying you're a cretin Syrus of Gahd. But surely you're not too blinkered to see that when only one section of the community playing UO is happy, when a sizeable enough portion isn't...

It splits the "community" of people playing UO and does it absolutely no good whatsoever.

If this "booster" policy is to be the future of UO, then I think it's going to do much more harm than good. Anything that divides opinion so openly, is poorly presented and rushed, is only going to have dire consequences.

Oh, I understand why there's a need for these boosters. Twofold. Regular revenue stream for EA and (hopefully) the development team. Regular "new" content interest for the players.

The added "bonus" if you will, would be the hope that there's enough time between releases that each booster is tested properly and that the player base is sufficiently consulted about important aspects, prior to their implementation - and fix what's still not finished/fixed from previous expansions.

I mean, come on... The game isn't growing. It's declining. That's not speculation and I'm not going to throw out fictional figures from some obscure website. My eyes tell me all I need to see with less players and less houses on multiple, even popular shards.

So, the more crap is pushed out the door in a hurry, the more the :cheerleader: crowd lap it up and criticise the rest of the player base for not being happy, the faster the decline gathers pace.

Sorry, but that's just the way I see it.

Frankly I've had enough of the same two or three cheerleaders going "I DON'T CARE THAT THE CONTENT IS WORTHLESS, I DON'T NEED INSTANT (or any) GRATIFICATION! LOOK HOW MATURE I AM!"

I've seen rare cannonballs on vendors for 10 mil and crap like that, I'm not surprised orc ships are going for a bunch at the moment. Two problems.

1) What does the rest of my TEEEEEEAAAAAM get?

2) How much is this garbage going to be worth when it's not the first week of the expansion anymore?

Two weeks is a long time.
Wait until they rebalance things, next year or the year after

Patience!
Patience? UO players have patience by the spade full. We've been patiently waiting for over 10 years for them to fix bugs that still exist today, while they churn out even more bug ridden crap that will likely never get fixed.

I'll be patient as soon as someone from EA tells me they're aware that they need to fix this.

"A sizeable enough portion"? What I see on stratics are the same dozen posters whining and complaining about everything, and then claiming that they speak for the great unwashed masses. What I see in game is a lot of people playing the High Seas content and having fun.

What I also see are a number of people who don't complain about everything but do from time to time raise legitimate concerns. Those are the people I pay attention to. There have been some legitimate concerns raised and it looks as though those are being addressed.

For the constant "[insert every game feature, and every effort the devs ever make here] sucks" crowd, at some point you just start laughing and wonder what the next ridiculous thing they are going to post is.

Welp, you changed my mind. 10k is a fortune, and this is all terribly worthwhile. Couple months from now when the novelty has worn off, this will certainly still be popular.
