Wondering if merchants of Zento would be interested in standardizing prices of wares sold? Just an idea ... post your thoughts.

That's called price fixing or collusion. Don't stifle competition!!! :gun:

While it would be easy to have a chart to go after I think that it is more fun not to have one and just do as you feel. Also adds the spirit of competition which is better for the costumer in the end and also IMO more fun for the seller.

But I wouldn´t mind either way...

I've looked around Zento and everyone pretty much has all the same prices. Maybe I'm missing something somewhere. Whatever happens let me know.

Don't take this thread the wrong way ... I have done absolutely no comparison shopping, I was merely throwing out an idea for discussion.

Bottom line everyone sells for what they want to...if you don't like being undercut, undercut the competition to what you will/can afford...what's the point of 10 vendors in zento all selling the same items for the same damn price...i was told as a child if you can't stand the heat get out the mother****'in kitchen...

I use to run a vendor house just outside the Luna walls, i was Tommy Hilfiger and i use to make a ****load of gold because i undercut everyone i could...

I always undercut tommy hahahahaha! Anyways ive been basing prices on the list in the sticky thread up top plus a mark up for labor. So my prices were Resource cost + Crafted Mats cost + Labor markup % = Total price item sold at.

As the wise Petra once said to me! "Im not in this for the gold, Running vendors is just fun" Not sure if that was the exact quote but you get the idea.

Back in the days when zeb had the pawn shop and i had mongbats revenge across the road we tried to work together. I sold what he didnt and he sold what i didnt. I think we both doubled on some stuff but our prices were basicaly the same. The only item that i ever undercut everyone on was basic barbed suits. That was because Tailoring is and always will be my favorite skill in the game.

I will not try to compete with Makers Mark but i will most likely stock the same items. Everyone has thier normal customers and i know that stocking a alchemy vendor takes a ton of work so most dont stock till thier empty or near empty.

As for a generalized price list im all for it. I dont want to be the person that runs another crafter off siege because they couldnt compete with others low prices.

I hope to eventually have a couple of vendors at the hospital. Now, I'm glad I couldn't find a spot in Zento.

Wow, some people really like to stir stuff up... I have been on this shard some time now and haven't worried about competition nor do I now. IT WAS AN IDEA!!!

It would maybe be kinda nice to see some guidelines for say suits !

I do not make those but when I do go comparitive shopping depending on their numbers I guess, I do see these all over the place on pricings. Same for some other items like UO given created items. A guideline might be good on those too.

But whatever people wish to ask or charge for anything they may sell, is probably why folks may go all over the shard just to see what others may be getting for even something as simple as enhanced bandages, empty rune books, or the price of a parrot. :)

I mostly stick to all carpentry items, even there I have seen folks charge like 1k+ for a simple rarewood chest to 100 gp even as low as 10gp for them which is way below the cost of boards or the time it took to lumberjack em, for them...ditto for addons those prices kinda run the gamut too. My own rarewood chests are 400gp per for the 3 low end wood types. I try to include what the price of the boards cost, time doing boring lumberjacking for lotsa boards, and how many boards an item hogs up to make. Thus you will NOT see me selling a 250 board hog arcane statue for 100gp !!! Even at 10gp a board 250 boards, board hogger item to me, is 2.5 k in price period !

I don't think we can 'control' what folks charge, also why I do not sell alchemy like even I used to do. Reason one, some charge way too less for a keg^100 btls. & some more. TIME is MONEY too, potions making is grueling time consuming, unless one is a scripter which I am not. Sooooooo whatever, my own gm alchemist is going FISHING ! Siege has you and plenty of others to make potions at whatever prices, even, & those that do sell em for 7k or less, for the reg. potions are cheating themselves. Granted they may sell more in the long run but they gonna BURN OUT making em all one day too for THAT cheaply restockin endlessly to keep up with their own too lowly priced alchemy !

I think apples grapes and bombs are pretty similar all over. I don't make those any longer for my vendors either...plenty of others to do those on this shard.

While we do still have plenty of carpenters it isn't as many as everything else sooooooooo I'll stick to making just about everything on the carp. makin menu ! If they want to pay 1k for a table or 10gp for the same they can go shop elsewhere. :) My prices on furny are what they are kinda in the middle anyhow.

I do think a form of promoting a Zento Trade Alliance also could be GOOD for the Zento vendors in general ie promoting our small plot of selling whatevers together as a diverse busy group could be GOOD for all of us too.

Regardless of what folks charge in Zento or elsewhere the sorriest to see are the many yet empty vendors that do NOT restock with any proficency ! :( Nothing worse to see than empty vendors or non restocking enough in timely fashion vendors on any shards anywhere !

I usually keep same pricing at Brit gate for goods as what you guys set up at Zento...but I'm all for some "medium" pricing guide :thumbup1:
