Well, even if it is where they have to go to each individual one, they could have the EMs do it in lieu of one weekly event. I agree that it is off putting to see an announcement that happened, what... a year and a half ago or more?

Really, for the love of the Virtues, why don't they just do it. There are devs who have been working on this game off and on for YEARS, we can't be fooled by polite ignorance of newbies on everything.
Please sort it out or my characters will start flagellating themselves everytime a towncrier speaks an untruth to them.

According to Draconi, changing/deleting the global message on one Town Crier changes them all on the shard. He also said that the EMs could alter them. However, according to one who tried, they cannot.
Since Mythic hasn't seemed to care about this for over a year...

I think if it was changing 1 Towncrier then they would already have done it.
Although they might also have broken the system some time ago and never took the time to repair/update it.

It's very simple. EM's can change the Town Criers (or can have a flag changed to allow it), but they all have to be changed mannually. I know, because I had the ability to change them and I wasn't an EM, just a Companion from years ago. All you have to do is double click on them and a menu comes up to change the messages one-by-one, or there is a batch option which I never figured out how to do.
To change all of them at once, I believe takes a Developer.

If developers can change all at once then they just should hop in for an hour and update the towncriers.

It doesn't seem very fun to go around all the shards and update the criers, even just once per shard. It makes total sense to let the EMs do it, Not only can they alert for their events, but stuff like ToT would have been turned off asap.

3) What Martyna said.... they are too dang Lazy to do it.
4) If Cal ever gets to reading this he'll probably just make Mesanna do it.

You can copy and paste from Notepad, and you can make all the changes in about one minute. There was a limit I think of 5 messages... one of the event NPC's very briefly had a message of "Lap dances for 10 gold!"
Then I thought that wasn't such a good idea, fixed it, and asked Chrissay to remove that ability from my character. It was sooooo hard trying to be good.

They should just change the 'flag' that ems and gm can globally set the messages?

Thanks everyone for your feedback, presently the process of updating Town Criers makes it difficult to keep them up to date on current events. We’re looking into building a better system to make the information they share more relevant and easier to update.
Fair enough. How difficult is it to delete them? Someone should be embarrassed they are in the shape they are in and it shouldn't be only the players.

Don't forget that the Spring Cleaning reward Sherry The Mouse is tied into the Town Crier system. Whatever happens with the Town Criers needs to take this into consideration.
