It was nice to have known you Connor, even if we disagreed on many things.

Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that UO is starting to lose the last of it's veterans. The way the game has evolved, in my opinion, makes that inevitable. Granted, your reasons for leaving are very different from my own, but in the end...they really aren't. The truth of the matter is that when the game is no longer enjoyable, there is no reason left to continue to play...its that simple.

There is a big world out there, games will come and go, but there will never be another like UO...and that's because of the people that have played it over the years...people like Connor, and Tina, and Ahu, and Moon, and Clean, and myself...and all of you.

Origin created worlds.

But it was we that truly brought them to life.

Though going through college and not having time to game is just lol.

Not true. He has kids, a job, and school. That is pretty time consuming.
Just play your game and stop giving other great players crap.
Good luck in what you do, Connor. =] Thanks for all you've done in game and out.

Ok, as far as I read here, he is getting the job after school. Maybe he'll get time in the future, so I would just keep the accounts around, who knows what happens.

Well, to be honest, Connor wasn't a vet in the sense most were (I think he played 5-6 years or so iirc), and I can tell you I still know a lot of veteran players who still are with UO (I know, I happen to be one of them).

And by the way, people are still bringing it to life, every day. You just choose not to see that.

Billing info was removed last week and the remaining time for this month has run out. The account should be transferring to its new owner (who will be getting all my "stuff":lick:) in the next couple of weeks.

It was fun while it lasted, but due in part to my dislike of the way events have been handled over the last year or more, and the fact that I now have something meaningful taking up the majority of my free time, I no longer have the time or the urge to play.

I wish everyone the best and hope the RNG rolls in your favor more often than not.:thumbup1:
Good Luck.

You know after you're gone for a while you will remember the good times more than the bad. Thats what keeps people coming back. There's something more going on here than just a video game.

That would be a matter of priorities. My priorities put maintaining my 4.0 GPA so I will get job offers before I even graduate ahead of playing a video game that does absolutely nothing to benefit me or my family.

I guess we all know now what yours are. :dunce:

You don't have to play the game for 13 years to be a vet. I played UO for nearly half the time it has been around, and started when expansions were still sold from store shelves. According to the game, as soon as you qualify for your first vet reward you are a vet, thus the name vet reward.

Not that it really matters much now anyway.

Im guessing a 4.0 GPA is the equivilat in england to a "first" or in easy terms a average of 90% or more?

If so, i do it :D 9-5 at uni then 6-12 UO ;) Although be it i dont have a girl as of last week and no baby. If i did id be dong what you are as i'd rush home to give the wife a kiss (and maybe more if we are feeling naughty ;) )

Then id wana spend a few hours catching up with my baby before they go to bed and see what new skills they found during the day or what they destroid or managed to eat!!!! My best memory like that is my bro teaching my neece to blow a raspberry, and doing it while being fed :) my sister goes MAD when he makes her do it while shes feeding her.... But its soo funny to see the yogurt all over my sister face :D

I envy you bro, i hope you have so much fun and make every memory of it count. As thats what life is. Its not who remembers you its what you remember. Have a good one and im gona miss your advise on the forums as you made me become an aswome sampire.

Its his life, so shall he do with it what he wishes. Under the current economy, having a GPA of 4.0 by no means assures one of getting a job but hopefully your credientials will put you in the discussion.

If you take anything forward just remember that life is a balance. A balance of your health, economic well being, sprituality and love.

Best of luck, sir. May you find peace and happiness, moving forward.

The point you brought up was including playing UO as a priority while attending college, not whatever position you are in now. I too had a high paying job prior to the accident that left me disabled. Since I am no longer physically capable of continuing in my previous career, my priority is doing whatever it takes to ensure the best chances of starting at the high end of the payscale range in my new career. Since UO contributes absolutely nothing toward that end, it doesn't even register on my list of priorities. If you can't understand that, then there's no help for you.

A 4.0 Grade Point Average is the highest possible score according to the standard grade rating scale in the U.S. It basically means I have a 100%.

If so, i do it :D 9-5 at uni then 6-12 UO ;)
My normal day is school from 7-3, after which I pick my youngest daughter up from school and spend the rest of the day with her. :thumbup1:

I guess its good to be able to place fun as a priority. But I guess its fine, if you never want to play again and there will never be a time where you'd be tempted again, then bye bye, nice knowing ya.

Though that said, its nice that you don't let yourself get beat down by your disability and still fight.

Conner Graham, sorry to read that you feel you have to make such a drastic decision. I enjoyed your comments on the game and your posts on the warrior forum a lot. I am with lord chaos though on a lot of what you said. Most of the arguments you have put out are just excuses to leave the game. I can assure you that this game is the perfect occasional escape from an exceedingly fulfilling, busy and rewarding real life. You don't have to play every day to make it worth while. You don't have to be the most knowledgable person in UO to still enjoy the game. Furthermore you don't have to pay for your accounts to keep your characters and most of your stuff. You may regret tremendously that you handed off something you built over 6 years.

I suspect there is more to this situation. Compulsion and addiction are hard to kick and 10.000+ posts later that probably has something to do with it. I wish an accomplished player like yourself would have been able to just scale it back to an acceptable level and continue to enjoy, while it lasts, a great game that they have been part of for so long.

Glad though you seem to have been able to bounce back after a significant trauma. Don't forget that UO and your obsession with it, have been a part of that recovery though (so it seems from your posts). That is a powerful aspect of this game that soon will start gnawing inside again and is also why so many people, for their own little and big reasons, come back to find back that something special. Text book addictive behavior. And they called that other game ever crack, perhaps UO is more like wine. Enjoy a well aged vintage, but dont become a drunk pissing yourself. Keep it in check, G-C, and you could enjoy it for hopefully decades to come.

Wow.

You got all that from me being too busy with school and spending time with my girls, plus not liking the direction UO is going in to have time to play nor a wish to find any.

Just.

Wow.

Overthink much?

I guess it never occurred to you that 6 years of being phyically incapable of doing much more than sitting in front of a computer for a few hours at a time might have been the reason why I have so many posts? Not to mention that a few short years ago before so many of the good ones left, debating on Stratics was actually enjoyable, and provided a nice diversion.

Wow......

FYI.......my Archer never sucked.....
Knew that would get your attention :D

Archers are dependent on ammunition.
Which takes up weight even when in quivers. Weight that can be devoted to carrying loot!
Each swing takes 3gp for bows and 5 gp for crossbows.
Most of the time, it costs more if you need to resupply quickly.
That's money you can make by not playing an archer and instead, sell the ammo.
There's no whirlwind special.
No parrying.
No evasion.
No counterstrike.
Only the initial hp regen works when using confidence, the each parry=hp regained doesn't work.
No 1 handed archery weapons (boomerangs are throwing weapons).
Archers need to do re-supply runs more than melee'rs
They need to repair bows just like melee'rs need to repair weapons.
Melee'rs can use the weight used for ammo to carry several weapons that will last them much longer.

Tada! *Awaits counter*

Archers are dependent on ammunition. - They also don't have to worry much about being hit and take a hell of a lot less damage.
Which takes up weight even when in quivers. Weight that can be devoted to carrying loot! - Bag of Sending and change in gold weight......'nuf said...
Each swing takes 3gp for bows and 5 gp for crossbows. - They're free if you sell them too.
Most of the time, it costs more if you need to resupply quickly. - Unless you happen sell ammo and have backstocks of 500k of each, which I do/did.
That's money you can make by not playing an archer and instead, sell the ammo. - Or sell the ammo in bulk which pays for the supply and also makes a profit.
There's no whirlwind special. - Archers have plenty of ways to hit more than one opponent, and can do so without taking melee damage.
No parrying. - Not needed when you don't have to stand next to the target, which frees up 120 skill points too. Besides, it's only a 12% chance for Parry to actually be needed.
No evasion. - Not needed when the only damage an Archer takes is from ranged attack, which is easily Healed through.
No counterstrike. - See Whirlwind
Only the initial hp regen works when using confidence, the each parry=hp regained doesn't work. - Not needed since Archers take less damage.
No 1 handed archery weapons (boomerangs are throwing weapons). - Balanced bows.....'nuf said.
Archers need to do re-supply runs more than melee'rs - With the right quiver, an Archer can easily carry 4k arrows/bolts which lasts longer than a person would normally play for.
They need to repair bows just like melee'rs need to repair weapons. - But Archer's can repair their bows while in the field with 0 skill and don't need a crafter or repair deed to do it for them.
Melee'rs can use the weight used for ammo to carry several weapons that will last them much longer. - Bags of Sending + Quiver of the Elements = No worries.

Tada! *Awaits counter*

Actually, it was 3 months ago almost to the day when he announced he would be quitting 'soon'. From a July 8th, 2010 post:

Hold the door open for me Tina, I'll be following shortly. I made the decision to sell my account yesterday, so soon I too will be stepping away for good.
I'm guessing this is an 'EA/ UO Soon' example he is using. It feels anymore like those bad, cheesy 1940's western movie deaths where they spin and spin after being shot, saying 'I'm dying'... 'I'm dying'... 'I'm dying'... for like 5-10 full minutes before they collapse.

Just an observation, of course.

I wish you well, Connor, if and when you ever leave. Like I said before, however, I hope you treat others outside of this place with better consideration, moreso than you treated the staff of stratics (especially the past few months) and many of the posters during your tenure. Not saying I'm the most restrained poster (I am not), but that your treatment of others on this board has often been pretty condescending and full of intended instigation.

Good luck in expanding your education and career!

Some advice to consider, most physical therapists are employed by government ran agencies. These agencies are lacking major funds in the last few years, most as completely in debt. My suggestion is that you not only complete your physical therapy, but add in massage therapy. MT allows you to work in the private sector and offers much more opportunities for you. You can then work from there to expand a private clientele for your physical therapy. Also once you graduate, look to "partner" with some personal trainers (either private or at the gyms, etc.) so you can also get referrals from them for athletic/injured clients.

Coming from someone who runs her own business (I am a publishing lawyer!) and has several clients (including my husband), has several employees, etc. etc. I still have a lot of free time for playing and play more than just 1 game. I am a gamer, tried and true. So I believe whether its UO or not --- perhaps another game --- you will find yourself interested in gaming at some point in the future. If you have loved it this much, and it certainly looks like you have and still do, you will find it again... just maybe not in UO.

Since you didn't get it the first time around, the statement of mine that you quoted said I had made the decision to sell my account at that time, it didn't say I had anyone interested in it yet. I also stopped playing two weeks ago when the time ran out on my account. If you'll note, I said I was quitting UO, I never said I wouldn't poke my nose in UHall every so often just to annoy.:lie:

Also since you don't seem to get it, UO and Stratics both are nothing more than a game. People such as yourself and those "others on this board" need to remember that and stop taking everything so seriously. :violin: :sad2:

Then again, some people just flat out deserve it and/or ask for it.
