What is the point of a Test Shard where every single spot where any size house will fit has been filled by empty plots????

All Housing on the Test Shard should be wiped away at least every 48 hours.

What a frustrating experience and frustrating waste of time.

Dev's REALLY need to address this!

This is a horrible thread, which is why I rated it with 1 star.

Can we place houses on TC without it affecting our rl houses or houses on our home shards?

Yes.

I place a house wherever I can find a spot, then place any addons that are new (to test) so although you see blank plots, people likely have stuff on them that they tested.

But I do agree with the deleting of housing after maybe 7 days of placing.

How about no housing on TC1 unless there is a specific reason to have houses ... like tests needed on changes to the system.

Would clearcut a lot of land real fast!

there are biggest problem on tc that not regards housing...
for example there is no room in the bank box and you have always to throw all away...
why they dont give an object that generate a specific artifact, resource or something else on deman... like the list of heritage token.

I (should still) have 2 seemingly empty plots on TC. I set them up when we got to test the house teleporters and wood workers benches. They're both private so they look blank, but in reality one is a horrible mess of addons and bags full of crafted stuff and resources. The other is just a house with a teleporter in it that I use to try out design ideas. If you want I'd be happy to give you one.

would you settle for some  on uhall? :grouphug:

so, i have no idea how you can see empty plots if they're .. empty.

but last time i was on tc1 there was tons of room everywhere but i couldn't place.. some stupid bug

super annoying, because, as someone pointed out, your bank box is full, and i wanted to stash all the crafting stuff so i could make decent armor etc and begin testing new skills etc

I went and found a lot of land near Umbra that one could place four or five 18x18's on. You just have to go look.

1. All houses on TC are public and no locked doors unless you are there logged in, you log off doors auto unlock. Some people place houses to test while the majority do it to take up space.
2. Turn auto refresh off and if you do not refresh house every 3 days it goes poof ASAP.

I seem the remember before my 8 year hiatus that the test shard would be wiped on average about every 2 weeks or so. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but still a fairly consistent happening. It's not like it was a guaranteed schedule or anything, just what I remember being the accepted average lifespan for TC chars and housing.

I believe it should be run more like how it was in the past. Similar to how I stated above. Every 48 hours I think is a bit extreme, but 2 weeks or maybe even a month would work fine. I'm certain that if it was wiped only every 3 weeks, it would still be easy to find plots for the even largest of homes... If would I read here and what I'm told is true, than anything would be an improvement over how it currently is. I know a lot of people rely on test to design a new home prior to committing to it on their home shard. (Which I believe even though it's not testing additions or whatnot to the game, is still in the spirit of a test shard)

I don't know where I'm going with this anymore, so I'm just going to stop there. lol...

How do you know that all of those empty plots arent being used by players to experiment with house designs, which have not yet been committed hence they appear as empty plots. Maybe TC is being used in this way exactly as it should be... wiping them after 48 hours would defeat the object of being able to use TC for house experimentation.

This is exactly what I use TC for, I have designed many houses for people to be able to come look at before attempting anything with their property on the production shards.

I also set up a house with all the tools I need for crafting etc out of the trash zones in cities where I can play with crafting or gardening or any of the other systems in the game. I don't need to put up walls to do this and my houses are private so you may not see all I have on the property though its there and being used.
