Problem with logging in

g'day everyone.
I logged out, and now I can`t log in on that character.I pick the shard and the character, and then the game gets stuck (not responding).So, I can`t log in.
Anyone experienced the same problem?

I paged a GM.

How did you page a GM if you can't log in?

Yes, I've experienced that, but not for many years. It sounds as if the char is blackholed. Where did you log out?
Can you log in other characters on the account?

the key words are 'on that character'. I've been there, done that. I had to page on another character and explain my plight. The GM had me log in the affected character while he watched. He snatched the character from where it was stuck, I appeared very briefly in jail and then outside the inn in Brit.

Other solutions now include logging in with the other client or, if possible, logging in with a better computer or connection.

Yes, I can log on other shards, and can log in on another character on Atlantic.

Guess that answers all the dump questions about how I was able to page a GM ;D

I logged out just west of Blackthorn`s Castle in Central Illshenar, not far from the entrance of that exodus dungeon.

I've been blackholed on Siege before. Not much fun trying to explain to gms that it's one char per account there.
A kindly gm eventually got my char fixed, and transported me to the Northside tavern in Brit. Where I was promptly guardwhacked for being red.
Still it's the thought that counts.

oki, Things to try:
close everything else and try starting the client without uoa (if you use that). Cut right down on what you're asking the pc to process.
I guess a different pc or the other client are not options?
Page a GM - as previously detailed.

This one is totally at your discretion - if there's someone else you really feel you can trust, ask them to log into your account and move it for you - But if you do that, I'd advise changing your password immediately afterward.

Hop-la, a GM talked to me.I logged in on the 'blackholed' char, but can`t see if anything`s happening.Gonna wait for half an hour and then re-log.

Well, I would have stayed for longer, but I lost my internet connection.When I checked back I still couldnt log on that char.

Hrm, logged in an hour ago on my second character, and there was some "message" in the upper left corner of the screen.I clicked it and...it disappeared.Huh.
I paged once more, then had to log out, and since I came back online a few mins ago I don`t get that yellow message about the queue and the request.
My main character is still stuck in the void, acutally, don`t know where is he stuck, as the client crashes when I log and all I see is a gray screen (in the UO window).
Now, if there is any way to contact a GM via ICQ, because it is hard to catch one in game.

Maybe a long shot, but just in case it's something that's corrupted in your settings - have a look for that character's settings folder on your PC and rename it, so when you try log in again it should recreate a blank one... not sure it will work in this case but probably worth a try.

I called Customer Service a long, long time ago when a GM refused to help with a character issue. They paged an in-game GM for me and got it fixed. Chrissay helped with with two separate character issues that GM's could not fix.

Sadly, I don't think this kind of service is available any more.

When it happened to me it was because my pc couldn't handle the amount of information the pc was trying to process. I walked into a very elaborately decorated keep while using a pc that just barely met specs and an internet connection of about the same calibre. Luckily I've had a few upgrades since then.

well, my pc is quite strong, at least it can handle UO, and the connection is good.I play with my second character just fine.

You could also try switching clients - if you use the CC log on with the EC. If you use EC, log on with CC.

Pick a day when you can sit at a computer all day from the moment they start work, and after hours of paging and sitting in queues you may eventually get a gm that knows how to pull you out of your black hole.

Like was mentioned above, go to your "my documents" folder and rename the "EA Games" folder to something else, then try to log in. This folder holds the desktop and macro info for your characters. Sometimes that folder gets corrupted and needs to be rebuilt, especially if you have gone a long time without reinstalling the game.

Also, IF there is a problem in the my documents files, add a blank space in your login name somewhere, it will make a new ones to match that name - your window size will be different, macros, skill/spell icons, etc may be missing, but you can still log in. I do this to get extra sets of macros in uoa.

I had a blackholed character before. I normally use the legacy client, so I logged in using the Kingdom Reborn client and was able to log into the character. Maybe you could switching clients to see if it works.
