GDC Online (aka Game Developers Conference in Austin) has opened up a category called the Audience Award. Ultima Online has already been announced as the winner of the Hall of Fame Award, but this is your chance to vote for Ultima Online in another category. Even BioWare is asking for all their players to vote for Ultima Online. Time to step up Sosarians and "represent"!

Game Developers Choice Online Awards organizers have announced the opening of the Audience Award, encouraging online game fans worldwide to vote for their favorite persistent online game from September 13th until September 24th.
To vote for the Audience Award simply enter the name of the game and a valid email address. You will receive an email prompting you to confirm your vote. You may choose any currently-operating persistent online game, whether it be a subscription MMO, free-to-play web game title, social network game, or anything else.

A good starting point to consider picks might be recently announced nominees of the Choice Online Awards, which run the gamut of online titles.

Deadline to vote is Friday, September 24th at 12am PDT. Note that an email address is required so that we may track the votes. Have fun and thanks for voting!

Farmville shouldnt be considered a game, its more of an interactive advertisement

Of all the Zynga "games" on Facebook, the only ones that are really interactive between players for more than gifting are Mafia Wars and Vampire Wars (and VW has 1/10 the players of MW), as they have a form of PvP, and MW even has an element that borders on PvM, that gets rotated in and out with new target names & rewards (4 boss fights, most be repeated 3 times for the best rewards, with obscene hp on the last tier to where only unbalanced or really creative characters can solo - sounds like a peerless or champ, put that way).

Farmville shouldn't even be eligible - it's a time waster, not so much a game. Hell, I started playing Farmville a few days ago, after hitting the endgame of two other FB games I played, and I'm able to gain a level a night after hitting the mid-teens, by just tending other people's gardens and feeding their chickens.

I voted. It's been said for years (and by many) that MMO's have been giving us players less and less for years, ever since UO. And UO is still the best of them all, art is the biggest thing against UO.

I predict the 'winner' will go to the 'scripter' that has the most email accounts voting for the game they want to win..

Just noticed that with multiple email accounts, you can vote several times.

I wonder if you can use those one-time-mail adresses...

Looks like you cannot use more than one email address if you use the same IP address.

I will not vote ... the game might be fine however part of it is crappy CS. I won't vote for anything where CS appears to not have a clue.
