I just found out that the Trammel map has a resolution of 6144 x 4096 tiles (pixels). So, if we say 1 tile corresponds to roughly 1 meter square or 10 square feet, then trammel is roughly 25 square kilometers or 10 square miles. Now, we can say that more than three quarters of this map is either water or unreachable locations, so we end up with 6-7 square kilometers or 2-3 square miles. If that is the case, Trammel is as big as Gibraltar.

Adding up all maps:
Trammel & Felucca: 6144 x 4096
Ilshenar: 2304 x 1600
Malas: 2560 x 2048
Tokuno: 1448 x 1448
Ter Mur: 1280 x 4096

Total are in tiles: 66,600,512
Approximate accesible tiles (1/4th): 16,650,128

If 1 tile is about 1 square meter, whole map corresponds to roughly 17 square kilometers or 6.5 square miles. For comparison, Manhattan is 59 square kilometers or 23 square miles and central park is 3.41 square kilometers or 1.32 square miles.

You know, if you're so bored as to go to all the trouble of figuring this out, I might suggest farming iron beetles as a fun way to pass the time... ;)

interesting data...
but there is something wrong here:
if 1 tile = 1 square meter AND there are 16,650,128 tiles
1 kilometer = 1,000 meter --> 16,650,128 / 1,000 = 16,650.128 kilometers

so a 32x32 castle = 1,024 tiles = 1.024km? :O
a 18x18 home = 324 tiles = 324 meters

Farming iron beetle scales is not a fun way to pass time, try it. :D

I did some other calculations while trying not to farm iron beetle scales:

You need approximately 3 months to fish 800k fish or 3.2m raw fish steaks to get a maritime reding glass from the library without using gold.

A code can be easily developed using primitive image algorithms which captures the screen while the t-map is open and finds the t-chests sextant coordinates with +/- 1 tile error. This type of a program does not use anything other than a screenshot.

No its not kilometers, its square kilometers:

1 square kilometer = 1,000 meter x 1,000 meter = 1,000,000 square meters

So, a 32x32 castle is 1,024 square meters = 0.001 square kilometers.

By the way, thanks for the imbuing material calculator that comes with your Template Editor.

Don't forget that if you cut up a stack of fish for steaks, you get 4(2n-1) steaks per fish; not sure what the biggest stack is that you can carve but by doing that you only need a bit over 400k fish for your 3.2m steaks...so just one and a half months' solid fishing lol

And yeah, you're right, farming iron beetles can't honestly be called fun :( but at least you occasionally get a scale!
