Slasher put me in my place

So last night I solod a few champs, did a dread horn. Didn't get anything really good from any of them and I wanted to try something new.

Last time I tried to take Slasher I was only hitting him for like 25-30 per swing which wasn't really enough to leech back mana/life with the occasional crit. I left with my tail between my legs after about 15 minutes. This time I wanted to try him with my lumberjack sampire.

I don't really know what happened.

Things were going fine. I was chopping him for the usual 180-193 per AI. Mana was leeching back, life was leeching back. I had him down to about 3/4 life after a short while. He had a pretty strong curse on me, I just was appling every now and again.

Then he landed two swings on me, I whiffed. Then my screen flashed white, I was paralyzed somehow. Not even a box would let me move. And it looked like the animation from bombard but coming from the top of the screen down like a meteor shower type thing. It literally had me parad and took me from about 66% life to dead. The damage wasn't huge or anything, just consistent mid-grade damage that lasted forever and I was frozen and couldn't move.

I checked Stratics and UOGuide and while there is a description of the special moves he does, not really an in depth explanation of them and how to see them coming. Does anyone have info to share?

I think the next time I do this I'll have to start up my laptop and make a UOA macro for cleansing winds and targeting my sampire on the space bar. I really don't want to put on mysticism or anything and grind it out in stone form. I'd like to figure out how to tackle this with a sampire of some sort. My sampire is set up so I can soulstone off LJ for heal/parry/resist/spirit speak if/when needed. I'd prefer to solo it, but am not above multi clienting a cross healer

I think resist makes the para time shorter. Maybe try putting resist in place of LJ and see if you can still sustain a reasonable amount of damage on him.

Also, having the backup healer is tricky, because of the falling stones and he does alot of are effects. If an effect hits the healer he may target it, i'm not sure of the tile distance on his stuff tho.

I can't imagine his AoE has a further range than Rikktor's EQ. It's possible to stand back far enough and heal for that one. I'll give it a shot this weekend sometime.

Slasher's meteor shower special is the reason why there is healing on Lord God's throwing whammy.Thats the char i usually use for him.
However, 2 or 3 weeks ago i decided to use fencing instead of throwing on exactly the same char and fight him just for fun on melee. The result was the same as yours,i got destroyed everytime he used this attack, because every single meteor did fall on my poor head.This does not happen on a ranged char.

I did not do him since the bane dragons came out,but did him before solo on another melee char and it wasnt that bad with the meteors then.
I suspect a change with this attack in the time inbetween, perhaps in combination with the needless change to the rocks at navrey,they display exact the same behavior now,absolutly deadly now when you could heal trough them before.
Would be interesting if other people observed similar things.

Lord God's mystic dexxer countered the freeze/boulders with healing, pots, and the healing stone. That takes a lot of skill points. Maybe try removing LJ for healing and stocking up on greater heal pots and enhanced bandages.

I don't know if parry helps with handling the boulder damage, but may help mitigate some damage. Just an idea if the healing doesn't work.

No it isn't.


The Slasher's rock fall is a counter attack to it taking damage (including its own from its fire fields). It freezes the screen and rocks drop which are Physical damage, so Attunement absorbs it, some blue rocks land on the ground which can be picked up and thrown back at it for 100-200 damage. There's no way of telling when it will happen.

Oh, and it doesn't have an AoE, it just randomly changes targets, so a second character (apart from being well away to res) wouldn't be much use as an xhealer. (Well not if their both yours I mean.)

OK then,for me it is. Not exactly neccesary for the fight,but to heal trough the meteors.Didnt know about the attunment trick.
I just did notice that it isnt possible anymore to heal through it if you fight him on melee.
Just an idea, is there a possibiltiy that we have different slashers on different shards?

Info on it? Huge Area of effect, unresistable, really, really, annoying, bandages and pots can heal through it. With more people it goes off more often (probably due to increased number of hits).

It's very lame and tends to make Slasher not worth it.

Possible to multi client, and then when the meteor swarm paras me I run over there on my other mage to heal myself, once its done switch back?

Hopefully he wont target me, gotta try to know i guess.

If you are very fast,multi client could work. But if you go that far for farming him, i would replace lumberjacking with spirit speak and use wraith form. The fight ususally comes to a point where he does nothing except mana vamp for a good amount of time,annoying and boring as hell. Wraith helps with that a bit.

thats why i like the mystic dexxer only because of the falling rocks, u can heal through it or well keep your self alive till your free to run again, i have had him to that 3 times in a row and lived... its just timing.
