Seeing the demo with the ships really made me feel itchy to return to UO.
I was forced to quit a few years ago when the 3D client was discontinued, as both the 2D client as the KR client had atrocious performance and usability problems for me back then. (when I tried to install the new enhanced client, both my gaming computers had hard crashes that forced a reboot on the computer during the update session, since that wasn't a good omen I went to get the classic one instead).
Anyway.
How is Europa doing nowadays? Since my 18x18 house is gone, I was looking to buy a new one but I didn't see any for sale recently on the sell forum. Has the population dropped so much that 18x18s can now be placed freely?
What of my characters, my gear must be pretty outdated as my warrior specialized in some HCI/DCI setup and my mage suit never became anything good.
I should have these skills over various characters, and soulstones to transfer them over:
115 swords
110 archery
100 parry
85 chivalry
100 healing
100 anatomy
105 tactics
110 magery
110 eval int
110 blacksmithy
110 tailoring
100 tinkering
100 carpentry
100 mining
Some lumberjacking
100 focus
100 meditation
I plan to play PVM, is there anything I can salvage off this to make a decent PVM character capable of earning me some income? What kind of gear will I need for this character and how much will that cost me? Current gear is a bit crap, I do have some arties like a rune beetle carapace, samurai helmet, violet courage, stormthingie gloves and even a crimson cincture but not enough for a full suit with max resists. Weapons are some specialized slayers but no good all-round weapons with leech. What weapon style should I go with, 1h + shield, 2h, 2h axe or archer? I kinda like the whirlwind attack on the halberd, axes or radiant scimitar, I imagine that would be awesome with some hit area and mana leech...
Speaking of money, where can I go hunting or crafting nowadays? Where are the hotspots and what is there to do?
What should I do with my crafter? I always hated the grind for runics and didn't bother with them, but I read up and found that arms lore and some skills for the new imbuing system are essential nowadays, should I pick them up? How does this imbuing differ from runic items? Is leather armor still king and does metal armor still suck because you can't med in it?
