cold elemental weapons - ok i give up :p

for the last week i've been trying - and been denied - making a nice mostly cold elemental runic double axe from DC hammers. i want to imbue the cold axe with reptile slayer. nearly all dragonkind and reptiles are cold vuln to some degree, some more than others..

ive had 100% energy, ive had cold/energy (not enough cold), ive had fire/poison (great with necro debuff), but i have yet to find any weapon with mostly cold.

am i battling the rng or should i be using a different hammer? energy elementals seem to be hella plentiful. cold does not

If you can get an item with 80 Cold & 20 Physical, you can imbue it with Shadow Iron to get to 100% cold. It will also increase its durability, IIRC.

Agapite adds 30% cold, followed by 20% energy if there's room for it. So a 70% cold weapon will become a 100% cold weapon, and a 50% cold will become 80% cold & 20% energy. (which energy is usually weak for the reptiles too).

You could also ask on your shard forum -some people collect 100% items and might have one from a T-map or other loot, if you don't mind it not being exceptional.

basara, what is the chance of breaking shadow iron enhanced weapons? is it like bows?

lets say i pof'd it to 255/255, imbued 5 modifications to 500 durability.

Actually, I got 2 yesterday from tmaps, a 100% poison and a 100% cold (executioners axe and a double bladed thing) with no other mods.

then that takes a mod slot...right? most materials have material bonuses like lesser requirements, etc. that take a mod slot..

Damage types don't take a slot and are not even discounted as a property when you use a runic (you can get a damaged modified with 2 mods and DI from a dull copper runic). As soon as you don t use dull, shadow, or gold you should be ok

thanks all, i tested enhancing an iron boomerang with shadow ore and it made it 80 phys/20 cold. i was then able to imbue hsl, hml, hla, hld, and it already had DI cause it was exceptional. so it seems it does not take up an imbuing slot and i can enhance beforehand so i dont risk breaking! i can now be on the look out for 80 or 70 cold items to enhance and get 100% cold dmg.

now, another question. is there anything i can do to up the frequency i get elemental damage weapons when crafting with runics? i dont seem to get elemental dmg weaps very often, the majority are 100% phys dmg.

You will get more elemental damage weapons from loot than runics. I have been doing miasma and they drop. I burned 15 dull copper and 5 shadow hammers last weekend trying to get a 100% fire katana to make a gift for a friend and never got one 100%.

Weird too because when I was raising imbuing in the beginning I used about 50 to 100 dull copper hammers I had been saving and made lots and lots of 100% damage daggers. I should have been making katana's.
