[Imbuing] Imbuing Alacrity Scroll advice!

So, last night I did a couple treasure maps and low and behold, I got an imbuing alacrity scroll! I just so happen to have a human imbuer at 97.7 skill and would greatly like to get him to at least 115 (120 someday).

Now, I need advice on how I should go about using it. Do I want to use it now or at later levels of imbuing? I figure I'll pre-imbue around 40 or so exceptional Jinsagas with some progressively harder pre-imbues and have plenty of materials on a packhorse. Any other ideas on maximizing the possible skill I can gain in 15 minutes? Your advice will be appreciated (if it's good! :p)!!

If you want to use it, wait till you are near your limit, and combine with GGS to finish you off.
You will need too sacrifice play between GGS times, to work this way, but SoAs only count played time, not elapsed time. Thus you han make it trigger on maybe 15 GGS times if you time things just right.
Or sell it. :)

Use it in conjunction with GGS

Premake a ton of Jingasas

Stone all your other skills off of your imbuer, OR, stone your imbuing to another character which is scrolled to 120. Goal is to just have imbuing on this spare character which you will use for nothing but imbuing training.

Using the chart below, it will tell you how often you can log your character in for a ggs gain. Except instead of .1, you will get the 'alacrity' version of ggs, .2 to .5

Skill Gain Systems

Every day just log in, imbue one thing really quick, get your .2 - .5 gain, and log out. The less skills overall you have on the toon, the more often you can log them in for GGS gain.

That's why you moved all the skills off your character. So you didn't mind just loggin him in for a minute every day

Thanks guys! I guess my best option is to just sell it and use the gold for mats for skill gaining since I need to level up quicker. :)

If you chose to use it, make up A LOT of bags of stuff to unravel. I would do a good number of things like Swoop wearing luck armor and busting up runics. This is because even at that high a skill level, you can still gain multiple times off unraveling 1 bag of loot. But you need to make sure that is it high level stuff you are unraveling.

a trick i use to tell if i can gain while unraveling:

im at 114.x imbuing now. so when i go to imbue something, i will set the intensity of the dummy imbue such that the skill required is close to 50% as possible. i can then look at the weight in the menu, and see that ok, it looks like 315 weight gives 50% chance. i then look for 315 weight items. i only loot 315+ weight items, as only they will give me the 50% chance to gain

Or you can do what I did. Make a new account or invite a friend to UO, and party up with your imbuer. There is a promotion going on right now that gives accelerated skill gains to the new player and his party. Since I was looking into getting a new account anyway, I figured now would be the best time to do it. When from 85 imbuing to 115 last night in about 2-3 hours. Plan on finishing tonight.

I can't find anything about this Promotion. Do you have a link?

EDIT:
Nevermind. http://www.uoherald.com/news/news.php?newsid=1086

The new player token is currently only available for new player accounts (less than 30 days) and through the purchase of the Stygian Abyss Expansion. Currently, upgrade players may not receive the new player token.
New players with the token have what we called internally “the new baby smell.” Simply, it’s a limited time alacrity that allows elevated skill gain for themselves and their party members. In addition, they start with a bit of gold, a weapon and an armor set. The amount of gold is meant to get them started. From what I’ve experienced as a new player, and from inputs from players at the Town Hall, the 20K is just enough to “get you in the door.” We are hoping that the alacrity and grouping with more experienced players will get new players the rest of the way.
