You dont get it either.
there is nothing to get, this is the actual reality and will never change...

If under a "No Smoking" sign there is 1 man, he will pay for that, if there are 10 men they move the sign, if there are 100 men they will remove the sign. This is the same thing: or they make it something legal or people will use illegal sites, there are no other choices :)

Hail Folks,

I am Opposed to this idea/option. I could not care less what other MMORPG's do. Ultima Online is Unique, and uniquely superior in many ways to all the others.

What I would rather see is the following:

All Crafting Equipment (Looms, Spinning Wheels, Forges, Anvils, etc) in Houses become deco only and unusable.

All Crafting may only be performed at "in town" crafting areas such as the Brit Forge in NorthWest Brit, the areas surrounding Luna Bank, etc. This causes our Players to come together as Crafter and Customer, as Mentor and Student, etc.

Disable Vendors for they promote "remote selling" where seller and buyer rarely if ever see one another. Either let the Crafting Areas also serve as "Commerce" Centers where wares may be offered and bought and sold, or designate one or more Commerce Centers per Town where sellers may bring Items for sale, or promote Auction Houses per Shard to promote Commerce.

Ultima Online is designed for massively multi-player participation and interaction. Its Design needs to promote, encourage, and cause Players to seek out one another.

I AM NOT saying that it should be impossible for Players to be "loners" or to enjoy a "solo" style of play. However, that should be the more difficult path than that of the community participant.

These are a few of my thoughts. I invite yours as well.

LOL

I hate when people look at UO through rose tinted goggles. You realize that the crafting and community in UO died when people found out how easy this game is and could make crafters on their own. Thus ended the "North brit smith shop" era.

Having to force me to stand at a smith shop is an inconvenience to a 13 year old vet who has worked to obtain what I have. Having to deal with you is not enhancing my game any , and if you put a little work into it, you can have your own crafter, why not? you lazy?

But everything is fine right? UO has record breaking subscriber numbers and it's profitable to EA , EH?

I haven't read this thread, don't know if it's off topic yet or not, but my vote is for an in game search. It would be sooooo helpful.

1. They should add the skill merchant that allows you to search for different intensities and items and receive a discount.

2. They should place a cap on said items so that people need to sell things off of the vendor by using their character to barter with players to help keep prices low and so basic needs, type things are sold.

3. A system that will buy things from your vendor at random should be implemented so that the server does a check on different vendors and buys items. This would encourage people to sell and create vending houses.

Just to point out if they make all third party programs stop working then there won't be that bot that walks around luna and recalls to the vendor malls updating the item search engines.

1. I am perfectly ok with that.

2. I very seriously doubt that it will stop it. They can't stop all 3rd party programs. They can try, as I hope they do, but the truth of the matter is that stopping something like that is an ongoing process, because that is the search sites lively hood.

13 years and third party programs still flourish.. hell even the 12 year old programs are still working and remain pert much undetectable.

if they are detectable, then they obviously dont give a ****

? Wondering how that would work. I sell a orny for 5mil. The person with merchant skill comes buy and buys it for 4mil. I get the 5mil? If so then merchant sells what he bought for me for 4.5mil then another merchant comes by using the barter skill and buys it 3.5 mil then he sells it at 4mil then another with barting skill buys it at 3mil and continues to go that way till it hits a rock botton price that would be a waste to sell it at?

Second part I sell a rare 5 of a kind item at 100mil the random system comes by and buys it from me then there are only 4 of a kind eventually if all are placed then they won't exist anymore? Or even rare items that are still obtainable they just go poof?

Oh and the cap. If more than 70% of the players have more than 50 mil in worth should the cap be 50k on any item? Definetely not free commerce. Which means venders will never ever be used again.

People really need to keep the idea simple. No need for a "merchant skill", discounts, price caps and whatnot, all that's needed is a system that allows people to search every active vendor on the shard (with a method to link vendors into the system) such as the bulletin boards and then let the free market (a wonderous thing that is sadly maligned in this day and age) reign.

It doesn't have to be an auction house or remove vendors, but it really needs to be an internal system that includes everyone and NOT an external system run via bots that include only select locations.

I think an in game Vendor/item search engine would be an awesome idea.
It could create a great gold sink, too.
Players could list their vendors and items in a search and pay a small fee when the items sells (say 5% or whatever) if it's found through that system, or if you put your vendor into the search engine, it will just automatically deduct a fee.
I don't see why a vendor search engine would be a bad thing... plenty of people are already using them illegally. All it could do is help.
