Be afraid, be very afraid....

Script mining tends to be obvious and usually, from what I've seen, tends to be recalling spot to spot around a cave, never taking a step, or noticing you just started mining a spot someone was already digging at. I got one apparently nailed last year. I did the report, got a thank you response from a GM, and the clown didn't do the next loop through the cave 15 minutes after the last. Haven't seen the character since.I know of a house that at minimum 5 script miners operate out of. Reported it.. nothings happened. I don't know of any player that can (actively) play 5 accounts at the same time... not to mention I know very few that would be patient enough to mine up over a million stones of ore... (Yes, the secure box has over 1 million stones in weight.)
I'd like to see stray elementals pop up off and on when your mining. It would releave the boredom.Maybe they should bring back the chance of digging up a blackrock elemental and add a twist in that the more times an area has been mined then the greater the odds of digging one up.
If my miner/lumberjack was hit for 50% health in one shot... the next shot would kill it. That would screw people in general unless you brought people with you to defend.kill. Example.. my fisherman. Serpents kill it fast since it's not a combat build, it's a survival (Fishing, camping, begging, cooking, etc.) build. I don't like my non-combat characters being forced into combat more. They need actual GMs that ban these bastards faster.I'd like to see stray elementals pop up off and on when your mining. It would releave the boredom.
Give each dig a character does a 0.5% chance to annoy an ore elemental thats nearby and have it attack with it's first 'surprise' blow doing 50% max hp damage to the miner, after that normal damage. I doubt a script run miner could be programmed to cope with that kind of instant handicap where a player run miner could.
For lumberjacking, have an occasional tree spawn a wood elemental or a tree sprite.
That was what I had in mind. A player would do an exit stage left Snagglepuss would have been proud of and healed up, then came back to kill the ele. I doubt a script could do it.If my miner/lumberjack was hit for 50% health in one shot... the next shot would kill it.
You're showing your age there boss. That was what I had in mind. A player would do an exit stage left Snagglepuss would have been proud of and healed up, then came back to kill the ele. I doubt a script could do it.

My new miner has 120 Magery with Meditation, but no Eval Int. She hunts dragons as a normal thing for barbed hides for her Father to use tailoring. She also carries an Earth ele crossbow now. An ele attack is nothing more than an interruption to her mining.
Her Father has 60 magery real skill brought to GM by jewelry & a spellbook. All other skill points are in crafting . He also hunts dragons, though more carefully than his daughter, and has the rating of Illustrious from his hunting.
If your character has enough magery to travel & heal with, it may be weak, but not helpless. Take it out with a bow, and hunting carefully, see how much rump it can thump. Landreu with 39 magery skill left from a -21 mage bow can still kill.
Being a Crafter would still work.Yea... that ruins having a crafter if I have to go combat. You want to make harvesting materials require combat. Running doesn't work if the first thing it does is go 50! because chances are, it'll get an instant hit/crit/something stupid to do a second hit *before* the chance to run is given. This wouldn't fix things, it would just get a lot of people killed and make it so being a crafter no longer works.
Oops!...You're showing your age there boss. That was what I had in mind. A player would do an exit stage left Snagglepuss would have been proud of and healed up, then came back to kill the ele. I doubt a script could do it.
I am going to agree with Tanivar. All of my resource gathering characters have a fighting skill (Archery mostly) You should see how shocked some of the miner PKs are when I start nailing them with freeze and mortal wound shots. (ROFL) I've actually taken a couple PK miners down before and YES I am proud of that. I also pot shot some of the afk miners.I built my Crafters so they could defend themselves against what they were likely to run into while doing their thing.
i donot recall you being one of the names. You the one that was watching my miner Valana up north of Shame yesterday? Watching and not saying a word? Those nice smooothly timed shovel strokes are a UOA macro.
I wondered if that was what was happening, particularly after brigands spawned in that cave I went to afterwards and they hadn't been bothering a miner just the other side of them, who left after a couple more token digs at a couple of spots after I set a blade spirits on the brigands as she approached them. It stank of seeing if my miner would react to the situation.
If that was you at the west end of the valley. Make that a possible, and apparently questionable, 4.
I think the idea of having eles spawn with normal mining & then the idea of having it slap the sass out of you upon spawning getting tossed in is what did it.i donot recall you being one of the names.
i didn't list the names due to being fearful of gareth's wraith.
Been out of town for the past week. funny this thread still has legs.
Well thats it folks!!! I have succeeded in my mission! "Drive fear into the hearts of Chesapeake players and for someone to recognize my wraith!!!" Now....I QUIT!.... or wait.... thats only one person....I need more!!!!i didn't list the names due to being fearful of gareth's wraith.
