Question about best template....

I am thinking my next char will be a Sampie....

However, all your talk has me very confused.

I have been away from the game for nearly 4 years, so I have no idea what the best things are.

I play on a shard that has limited people, so I have to solo a lot of things.

I am looking for a fairly versitile character that I can do doom, spawns, and the Dreadhorn type places.

I have not been to the new dungeon, but there looks to be some pretty fun places there.

Scrolls, Armour and rings and weapons shouldn't be a problem to gather, as I have some money from when I played before.

I am looking for suggestions, but in as lamen talk so to speak as possible.

I was thinking macing, but looks like the old LJ Swords option might be a lot better.

Thank you all for your input, and I look forward to reading what you have to say.

If I am to do Doom, I'd prefer to just log the char out in there, and return home with artifacts and repair & such. I might have a soulstone on me with stealing in case I see something I want in the gauntlet, but we will see.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I will need to know what my stats should be, armour I should build/craft. What mods on my swords, rings and such.

I know you are all busy, but would appreciate your help.

Everyone has a different opinion about the best template.

After reworking my mana pool to 78 I think my LJ sampire is the best with chain AIs to the face for 193 a pop.

Armor is easy though. Get to 45 dci and 45 hci. Get all 70s. Get 100 DI.

Weapons are easy, you need to swing at 1.25 and you MUST have stamina and mana leech.

Everything else is all preference.

As for skills (sampire) the must haves are:

Melee skill (120)
Tactics (at least 90)
Bushido (preferably 120)
Necromance 99
Chiv (at least 60 - I go with 54 and deal with ****ty casting success)

Everything after that is all up to you. We've had quite a few discussions on what has worked for different people. The best template differs between people and their playstyle.

why Necro?

Do I need Parry with Bushido?

How do you heal?

Necromancy: vampire form
Parry: NO!
Heal: see Necromancy

Now go make a template with Lynk's five skills and suit ideas. (a sixth skill can be anatomy for more damage)

Go kill stuff.

When you get stuck later, come back for more advice.

Thank you for your help guys!

I am sorry for my newbie ish.

When I played, I was a mage, so never explored the whole pvm with a warrior side of things. I haven't played in nearly 4 years, so just trying to get used to things.

I know, another newbie question coming...

I have read people fight in waith form. Is there a benefit to this or did I read this wrong and it is Vampire embrace they are talking about.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I just want to be able to play solo and actually survive.

One more question. Is necro spells like mage, where you need a lot less skill to cast it if you have the scroll?

My question is, if I have say 30 necro, and throw on a ring and bracelet to bring me to 60, could I cast the spell with the scroll, or do I need to be at 99 no matter what?

People use both. Read the spell descriptions on the Necromancy page, it'll clear things up.

Magery is the only casting skill that gets a skill requirement decrease for scrolls.
And you need 99 Necro to cast Vampire. And no, you can't remove jewelry after casting Vampire.
