For a new account with a 700 point cap, I would go for this as a final template:

120 Weapon Skill
120 Bushido
100 Parrying
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
99 Necro
61 Chiv

Your weapon skill is the most important item for any warrior. You can get a 120 mace scroll on most shards for fairly cheap. I've seen them as low as 200K... You should be able to find on for 400K or less if you shop around.

The weapon is also critical. You want the following 5 mods to start out:

SSI
DI
HSL
HML
Your choice (usually HLA or a Slayer)

100 Resist or Spirit Speak

If you max your DCI, Parry is a waste of skill points in PvM for the most part. The chance that parry will come into play while in combat is 8-12% (if I'm remembering correctly, but I do know the number is very low). You would be better off using those points with either Resist or Spirit Speak, using a soul stone to swap the skills. I prefer swords over the other weapon skills because of the larger number of weapon choices.

I'm not back, I just stopped in to check my messages and couldn't resist the urge when I saw someone asking for help.

That and dealing with the stupidity I saw in UHall regarding Chivalry....:gun:

So, I'm trying to get to the bottom of this parry debate. According to the Stratics calculator, chance of blocking with a 1-handed weapon is as follows:

120 Bush/120 Parry = 35%
120 Bush/100 Parry = 30%
120 Bush/0 Parry = 5%

The difference seems substantial to me. Is the calculator off?

its the order in which parry is used when checks are made to determine if a hit is scored

first its weap skill vs weap skill
then dci/hci vs. dci/hci
then parry comes into play

according to them because parry isn't even checked until so far down the line after so many other checks, having 120 parry only amounts to a slight (10-12% are the numbers ive seen thrown around) chance to avoid being hit. thus it's "not worth the points"

you may find usage for evade etc. never played with it much
