It's not like that's anything new. They're always cautious in regards to what they answer and how they answer. That's why they had a PR developer at one point, but I have no idea how the team is structured now.

The thing is, they answer questions, and then people either take that answer way out of context and/or come back later with "but you PROMISED! ;_;"

No, it isn't. I asked a question (that I found the answer in that forum a couple minutes afterwards) and Phoenix responded to me that it had already been answered.

While they are not all in the "Ask a Dev" forum, I count 95 posts from EA-Mythic team members in July alone. Hard to say we'll "never ever again see squat from the DEV's.".

Oh give me a break.... 95 posts where? NOT in Ask the DEV's that's for sure! And 85 of those posts you see aren't at all informative either. Ok maybe not 85 but at least 50 of those 95 posts... So put the pompoms down and quit acting like that's acceptable. Because quite frankly it's not.
There are 52 weeks in the year.... used to be we'd at least get 5 questions answered in a week IN ADDITION to the several posts on the forums by various DEV's... So don't be giving excuses for them...
I'll say this though... After the first 4 or 5 months of my submitting question after question to the "Ask the DEV's forum" only to have ZERO of them answered... I quit bothering with it because I figured it was a useless waste of my time and effort.
So... more than likely I'd say the blame for the lack of posts in the "Ask the DEV's forum" is maybe on both sides. However I myself gave them at least 4 or 5 months benefit of the doubt before I wised up.
Honestly it's my opinion that the lack of anything in that forum is because most everyone found that asking DEV's directly in UHall got FAR more results than submitting the question into the "void" that is the "Ask the DEV's Forum".
Considering the devs are posting on through their own free-will on stratics directly, I find it acceptable. They have been quite active on the forums, more active than they ever been. Maybe I can just appreciate a lot more than some people. I would hardly consider it "squat," in fact, very far from it.
Not that I don't want to hear some answers to some questions unrelated to current changes, it would be nice. But I wont rage around calling their interaction horrible because I am not hearing what I want.

Of those ’95 posts’ less than 1/3rd are actually useful, informative posts. Most are Cal just being silly…a tactic he uses to deflect actual issues far too often.
The UO playerbase, Stratics posters mainly, act like a spineless abused spouse in regards to communication from Mythic. Stop making excuses for their behavior people, they suck when it comes to communication. UO is the only ‘major’ (and I use that word lightly) MMO that has nearly zero ongoing meaningful communication between the content providers and the players.
Every other MMO has official message boards and has a page listing what is being worked on by their development team. Hell, even WAR has this…and it’s a Mythic product! Compare the UO Herald and the Warhammer website. Notice the difference?
While they get Dev Blogs and podcasts, UO gets Cal’s spin-control letter-of-the-month which is full of vague wording, hype and very little substance. 5 on Friday is gone and the Ask the Devs forum was a pathetic replacement that we all knew would fail miserably.
Mythic has promised better communication for several years now, and has NEVER delivered. If UO’s playerbase wasn’t so devoted to this game this problem wouldn’t matter. But we are. So, its long past time for Mythic to live up to its responsibilities and dramatically step up communication to the levels other MMO subscribers demand.

The comment was made that we did not see "squat" from the Dev's. Even if less than 1/3rd of those posts... say 30? have real info - that's still more than we got in a month of 5-on-Fridays. And of those 5 each week... was it really 5? How many times did they answer the "Gargoyle-flying mount-delay/dismount" question?
I'm not saying communications are great by any means. But I think we got more than squat... and more than the old 5-on-Friday.

I posted a question there 2 days ago regarding if LJ will ever get something like the Gargoyle's Pickaxe, and it's still not up there yet.

The questions are forwarded to a dev-only forum to await an answer. If it is answered, the thread is moved back to the "Ask a Dev" forum for all to see.

No, we can't show you 20 questions that have been answered because nobody has submitted any. If you want answers you have to submit questions first.
It's not that the Devs have been ignoring the forum, it's that there's nothing in there for them to answer.

If players aren't submitting questions now, is that not also a sign of despondency, having submitted reasonable enough questions, yet failed to get any answer?
I can think of a couple of questions that haven't had a response. I'm one person. How many others have submitted stuff without reply or even their question displayed in the forum?
I understand that there's going to be duplication of questions, or even what might seem like insignificant questions to some, but to the players concerned, they're important.
Lack of any answers to questions, can suggest either lack of ability to answer, or lack of interest.
I'm not sure what you mean. I've submitted at least 10 questions, maybe more in the past and none were ever answered. I figured it was a waste of time so I stopped. Are you saying questions get deleted after a certain period of time?

Questions do not get deleted over time - though over time, many questions loose their relevance (for example: there's still several in there from specific events that are now over). Questions that are duplicates are merged with the original.
Some questions simply can not be answered for a large variety of reasons. Posting there is not a guarantee of an answer - but not posting there is a guarantee of not getting an answer there.
