After a long time absent of UltimaOnline I decided to come back and start playing again. I was gone for almost 8 years and the one thing I would love to know is:
Why can we not do a character transfer to another account?(same person with account)
I started all over but ended up finding my old account info after some calls. (yea stupid me should of done that first).
My old account has all Grand Masters and I would love to be able to transfer 1 ( one ) char over to that account.You can do transfer to another server so why not do it to another account.
This question has probably been asked before if so I do not see it anywhere on the forums.

Should we be allowed to have this done?

Main reason is RMT. Sell outs that make a living off UO just make UO worse.

A superior alternative is make have skill tokens that give you 7x100 skill, and +5/+10 skill tokens.

There would also be technical issues such as old account have a skill cap of 720, and new accounts have skill cap of 700.

Various Skill tokens are the answer and that way all the money goes to EA which in turn means more development and advertising $$$ for UO.

Im not looking at ppl consolidating accounts, But I am looking at the Hacking part that would go rampant if you could! Think about it. Master X (fictisious name) has 7 ledgendery chars on his account worth $$$ to players who have no clue and willing to buy one... name change, shard change and he is lost. The hacker has made $$ on stolen goods this will allow. NO WAY JOSE.

That was the second thought that I had... first thought was what a security risk that would be, and start a whole new round of phishing attempts to steal passwords AND characters.

UO "used" to be about creating a character, building him or her up over time.....that added value, as you see. But, to restart on another shard, work it like you did, or stay put.

Its sad that because of the developers ineptitude in dealing with cheats, a good idea can become a bad idea because it will be exploited. It is so often the case.

I think the people who truley rule UO are not the devs but the cheaters exploiters and hackers.

@OP, I gotta tell you, while I'm not against the idea, I'm not really for it. If you want it for some GM characters then it would be a waste, it takes maybe a couple hours to get most skills to GM level. And I would say just use your old account rather than a new one anyway, your skill cap is maxed on the old one more than likely and you will have more vet reward choices.

Exactly my thoughts.

I have an account that holds a house and I would love to pay it for 30 days, then let it sit unpaid for 89 days, repay etc. However I have 1.. yes 1! Character I play on it. If I could take him off, EA would loose money. Can't see them saying yes to this great idea.

I'm sure there are holes in this idea as well...but why not let us interchange soulstones.
Most UO players own more than one account, why not figure a way to have soulstones transfer between accounts etc. ?

Same problem that Magdalene mentioned... you would have people scripting skills to 120 to sell maxed out soul stones. That would not be good for UO, imo.

Are you silly? You can already broker and buy skills on several sites if you want to.

You can already do that. Apart from Taming, most skills are fairly easy to train up if you truly wanted to consolidate. But you'll have the same problem as you do now. Only max 7 slots and only 1 house.

I certainly wouldn't, but not out of a security perspective. No longstanding RMT company would shoot itself in the foot by ripping accounts and if anything you could simply transfer anything valuable off it.

Transferring between accounts would encourage it a lot more just out of the sense that you don't have to hand over your password.

It would be just about the same and you could make that harder by only allowing transfers between linked accounts or your own accounts. This would make it a lot more expensive than just letting someone train your character.

Right now, they sell "the training of skills" and to purchase it, you have to turn over the name/password, plus wait time while they actually script the training (a risk on your account with the new detection routines?).

Under the proposal above, skills could be pre-scripted and transferred almost immediately with no security risk to the account, and no risk of "caught scripting" marks on the account.

It would open many new doors that I think are best left closed.

Plus they need the accounts to pay bills.

But i would like to see them remove the year limit to use certain vet rewards..

Wow I never thought I would get this many responses and I thank you all for them. The thing that realy got me is that I went ahead and got SA for my new account and then when I finally got info of my old account it was to late to do anything.Would I buy another upgrade for old account? realy not sure. But alot of people are talking about how easy it is now to get your GM in everything.
(wish I knew how).
I appreciate everyone who responded to this and guess I will just have to redo all over again or upgrade my old account.
BTW I am on GL server.
