Different Desktops

*edit* Nevermind, I've decided to go with the batch file idea.

Incidentally, it works quite well. You just need to quit the client entirely to reload, but otherwise it's fine. I have .bat files that save, load, or backup my settings files. I'm sure there are more elegant ways to do this but this is pretty simple (as am I, so it suits me).

I have most characters set up identically, all conforming to the common settings that span characters.

I want one character to use a different size & placement for both the chat window and the play window, and possibly chat tabs. Can these all be adjusted via a Command macro?

I see one Command in the sticky thread that resizes the play window but I don't know how to achieve the rest. Basically I would have two macros on this character, one to change the settings to its own setup, then one to change back to the common settings before logging out.

Ideally I'd like to just reload with a different UserSettings.xml and not have to worry about hardcoding the changes. That way I can continue to adjust the settings on that character as fit and not have to tinker with the macro every time.

I guess if all else fails I could have a batch file that copies .xml files around. I did that before with conflicting (identical) character names.

Good workaround. But I wish they would add some additional support for multiple accounts and/or different configs for characters in the account.

2d let you have one global macro file with the option to have individual custom macro files for specific chars. Seems like the EC could also allow you to put a different user settings file in character specific sub dirs. But for the most part, I am ok with the desktop settings be the same.

One other feature I would really like to see is to have a global user data file where common stuff - open doors/pet commands/commonly used spells etc etc could reside that would merge with char specific data files where char specific hotkeys/macros, eg equip macros could be maintained.

That's a good suggestion. :thumbup1:

A checkbox for "Use Global Settings" and another for "Share Global Macros". The global options would override any layout, skin, settings, bindings, etc.
