Hi.

Its me again.

Maybe a poll will get a Dev's attention!

Humans have not had any substantial choices for clothing options since Samurai Empire.

Elves, no choices except the clothes the race was "born" with when ML came out.

I'm not asking for anything with armor properties, (though adding properties is pretty simple...and a leather long coat would be sweet...and turbans do traditionally make for fine head protection...and quilted arming caps could look way less dorky than leather helmets..)
but isn't it time human and elf wardrobes saw some art-love?

Hell, if its too much work, have a contest and let the players render it and send in the art!

Personally, all of my characters are getting bored with dressing in the morning.

What about the rest of you?

Given how the new equipment is rendered, I'm skeptical. :/
All the gargoyle clothes aren't finished either btw.

For me, there's about a thousand other more urgent fixes that need the developer's attention.

I think the gargoyle stuff looks pretty good for, you know...gargoyle stuff.

And yes, I know, there are people complaining about a "thousand" other things: factions, monsters that are "too hard" (i.e. can't be solo'd), overpowered templates, underpowered templates, and other stuff that has been "ruining the game" since about 1998.

That will continue. "Fixing" rules is arbitrary. Whenever anything is changed in this game, it will make a percentage of the players happy and a percentage that liked the way things were before angry, and they will say the new "fix" is killing the game. If they took a day to make some new clothing options, I doubt it would upset the schedule of optimizing a nearly 13 year old game and figuring out a way to please everyone too badly. ;)

Adding a few new art choices for clothes is quick, simple and will not kill the game. An intern could do it, and I could name probably 10 Stratics users off the top of my head that could do it. (Hence suggesting making it a contest).

It'd be nice if the... flower garland, fur cape, gilded dress and such were given their own graphics.
I'd say Gargoyles currently have a bit more need though.
But at least they have half-aprons now.

Although I would like new clothes it's not something that's 'broken' so I would rather they spent what time they have on art fixes.

I wasn't really asking about when they would do it, even though I doubt it would put much of a strain on the time they will need for all the apparent thousands of other art fixes that exist and I've missed.

The poll is about if players would like new clothes or not.

UO is about content and not graphics.

No one should care how anything looks. Just be thankful this game is still around.

*nods heartily to the AoS clothes which have never had 2d graphics.

I doubt we will get new graphics as it seems to be a lot of work.
Though would be nice if they gave us tools to do our own.
The graphic for the paperdoll should not be too difficult, problem is the animation on the character

You don't care. I do. I spend time making a nice outfit. I don't like patchwork suits.
And I guess any house decorator cares how things look.

And no, we can't be just thankful, we pay for it. Only suckers are just thankful someone throw them a bone. And that's remarkably unhelpful for the game. We're customers, we give feedback.

This isn't a "But you're lacking another option!" sort of a reply, but new or old art wouldn't matter if we could at least graphically transform our items and get a choice to not show helmets, cloaks, robes.. Well, to turn invisible all items at will, I guess. rolleyes:

There's a bug in the EC where certain items do not show icons on the paper-doll slots sometimes and it really doesn't cause any problems. It's obvious something's there(slot back-ground hue), mouse-over works fine then too.. See what I'm saying? What could it possibly matter if we could turn cloaks and such "Off"?.. Or whether my mix of samurai and leather armour suit shows as a stylish full set of dragon scales armour underneath an invisible robe so I can show off if I want to? :p

I guess that would be neat, S!ckLoveR, but yanno someone would complain. "Not fair! I attacked him because it looked like he was just wearing a shirt and pants! I never would have if I knew he was armored! Entrapment!!"

Though from a role-playing standpoint, that option would be awesome. :) I've seen lots of armor pieces and robes and such I'd love to wear, but they look ridiculous (to me) on and my characters wouldn't be caught dead wearing them. Sadly it seems lots of Devs (and players) forget about the RP part of MMORPG, though.

And don't be too hard on Amren, he must have been being sarcastic. :)

Oh, and Mapper, sorry if my response to you seemed snippy, I was multi-tasking and it came out like I was jabbing at you. I was just trying to type fast 'cause I was needed in game. :blushing:

LOL. So it can't be about both? rolleyes:
NEVER!!!

It's always mutually exclusive:

Graphics OR Content
Graphics OR Gameplay
Graphics OR Population
Graphics OR *insert lie here*

I don't know why people are so dead set against things looking nice. It is actually quite important. Try playing UO with your eyes shut.

Regarding new clothes, they should tidy up the SE & ML wearable art for Classic, and redo the paperdolls & avatars for EC. Easy, right?

I'm going to have to agree with Beleg. We need more clothing options. Alot more.

But I'm also going to have to say that we have alot of clothing options (i.e. elven and female clothes; gargoyle weapons; etc.) that aren't accessable to human males; even though faction morph earrings prove that these items equip on humans just fine.

This leaves roleplayers, who largely don't participate in factions, up the proverbial creek when it comes to character customization.

I agree I'd love more clothing options...

Infact I'd prefer they give us more alternatives to wearing those hideous robes.

I'd like a long open leather coat like the one that Aragorn wears in LoTR.

That would be much cooler than an ugly robe... Robes are for priests..... which I am not. Robes are for Monks which I'm not... Yet quite a lot of the special bonus clothes are ROBES... despite the fact they look awful.

And as for the "I'd rather they worked on bugs." I hate to break this to you but I'm seriously doubting that the art team has anything at all to do with fixing bugs other than those that are graphical... they do art.... They aren't going to be coding any "fix" for speed hacking.
